Bob2013 got a reaction from mike2019 in Pureed Question
I went to pureed on day 21 post op, per my surgeons instructions. I didnt skip a beat on weight loss. 2 months out and I still never go more than 3 days without seeing some sort of loss.
My more frequent foods during this period was:
Egg Beaters, cooked on medium heat using non stick spray, I made sure they did not brown as they stiffen up a bit. Small bites and they were great and easy on the stomach. I either made 1/3 to 1/2 cup or 1/2 packet or instant grits and 1/4 cup of the egg beaters. After cooked I put the eggs on top of the grits so the moisture of the grits slightly softened the egg beaters.
Canned chicken, tuna and hard boiled eggs with kraft non fat mayo. Puree them in a food processor. I added various things to them, Pickle relish(just a little) , lowrys seasoning, mustard. Even a little hot sauce in the eggs (yum)
Lite, low cal Soups ran through a blender.
One of my favs was ground turkey cooked well, drained and ran through a food processor so it was very tiny bits. Mixed in some low fat re fried Beans and salsa. Just make sure there are no chew able pieces.
With all this I ALWAYS use my scale. 4 to 5 ounces maximum. I was very anal about this is for the most part I still am. If it goes slightly about 5 ounces I pull some out. If its not on my plate I dont miss it. And if I go over I always regret it because I feel like crap when I eat too much.

Bob2013 got a reaction from Swampdoggie in Are stalls real or do we just make excuses ?
I am 18 months out and have been at my target for about 8 months with over 115lbs lost since surgery and 150 since my highest weight. With that said, Yes, stalls are real but the body will catch up. I had a couple weeks here and there where I lost nothing and even a time where I gained a few pounds. But after a week poof, 5+ lbs disappear. And in the end I got to my goal.
Just be honest with yourself, and make sure the stall wasnt your own doing. If it was, get back on track and move on.

Bob2013 got a reaction from Riz2006 in Why hide it?
I have been seeing many threads on here about people keeping their surgery a secret and it really puzzles me. I understand its a personal choice but whenever someone makes a post about it they never really give the reasoning behind it.
I personally do not hide it. If anyone is curious I gladly tell them and when the questions pop up I am pretty well versed as to the facts behind the surgery so I educate them. The way I look at it is if it wasnt for people being open about it I would have never looked into making one of the best decision I have ever made. To me, it seems that keeping that secret would be more harmful mentally than whatever benefit keeping it a secret would do.
So what are the reasons? Is it being embarrassed that you had to have the surgery to lose weight? Do you want people to think you did it on your own? Is it being afraid of "What if it doesnt work"? Or is it "I just like keeping secrets"
I am not judging anyone, I am just curious.

Bob2013 got a reaction from BigGirlPanties in Survey - Carbonated Drinks? Do u drink them?
I look at it this way. Addictions are all the same. For some it may be drugs or alcohol. For others its foods. When a addict decides to clean up, all it takes is just one time to slip back to where they were. So when it comes to certain foods, I feel its best to abstain than to take a chance. If any of us really had the willpower to control ourselves prior to the surgery, we wouldn't have needed the surgery to begin with.
Today its a couple sips of soda or a bite or two of bread. Tomorrow its a whole glass and a 12 inch subway. I have worked too hard and put myself through too much to take a chance. I am in this for the long haul. Eating to Live not Living To Eat!!!!

My apologies, looking back at my post I came off rude.
I guess it has to do with my thinking of the whole process. When I decided to go the surgery route, I made the decision I was going to completely let go of all the bad habits that got me to where I was. Throughout the process, between the seminars and other group settings so many people are so worried about what they wont be able to eat or drink anymore. I made the decision I was not going to do that. My focus was going to be on where I wanted to go, not where I came from or what I was leaving behind.
With that said, everyone is different. And while my way of thinking may be good to some, it may not be good for others. So once again, my apologies for coming off rudely.
