    Dr Kuri

Hi Ussr28. I got banded by Dr Kuri on Nov 26. He did not fill the band because you will need time to heal after the surgery. You will still lose weight. You will notice going into the 5th and 6th week you may start to get your old appetite back and you will be ready for your first fill when that 6th week comes. I just had my first fill mid Jan and I have since lost another 5 lbs. Slowly bit surely it's coming off and will for you too. Maybe even faster. . I absolutely love Dr Kuri and his staff. They took such good care of me during and after my surgery. All his staff is very nice. Annabelle especially. I was so pleased I went back to Dr Kuri for my fill as well. I didn't want to go anywhere else. I am from AZ tho so both trips were easy for me. Good luck with your surgery. I am so happy I made the choice to get lap band for myself. Best wishes to you!!!
  2. I had my surgery done on Tuesday, November 26th and didn't go back to work until Monday the 2nd. I feel I could have gone to work on Friday, but I was off because of Thanksgiving. Most likely you would be fine, driving to school and sitting through a class depending how long it is, you may need to get up and walk in between if it's a long seesion. Just make sure to not carry anything heavy. You may have to leave your books behind and just bring a notebook. Everyone does adjust differently however, so you may have to just use your judgement when the time comes. Maybe notify your teachers that you are having surgery and could potentially miss class, but that you will try to be there as long as you are feeling well. I'm sure they would understand. Or as someone aboved mentioned maybe reschedule to have the surgery done over spring break. Best wishes and Good luck!

    9.5 Hrs Till I'm Banded

Surgery went well. Had it done yesterday morning and was released this morning. A little sore at the incision sites and some shoulder pain. Nothing unbearable. Just walking and walking and waiting for my flight home.
  4. Thanks Icy, I emailed my patient facilitator so I'm sure she will get back to me in the morning. I definitely wouldn't want to go through with the surgery if my body is weak. I just know they told me not to take things like aspirin or ibuprofen this week but was hoping I could do something like Tylenol cold. I have stuck to hot tea and honey for now and some Vitamin c drops. It could just be allergies too.

    Is It Just Me?

Thanks ErinMarie. Your exactly right. I don't have to let anyone know for I fear I wouldn't be supported. I have only told 2 people other than this forum and thank goodness because tho I want to keep my decision semi private in my personal life I feel I can get support on this forum as people don't know me or some may have experience that is similar to me. Everyone's feedback has been a positive impact on me and I'm very appreciative of that. Although I'm doing it alone I don't really feel that way thanks to many of you.

    Is It Just Me?

I am having it done in Mexico because insurance and my BMI is under 35 and currently I have no comorbidities. I have yo-yo dieted for years and can lose some weight but I tend to always gain back and then some. I honestly at one point didn't think I would be able to qualify it have it done because I thought their were even stricter requirements to qualify. Then I happened to stumble upon a conversation one day and found out that I could potential have the lap band procedure done and use t as a tool to lose Nd maintain before I run into health related issues as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure all run in my family. As well as I will soon be 40 and dieting seems to get harder and harder the older I get. I just decided I want to make the choice to do this now and have the healthier lifestyle with the assistance of the band.
