Carlotta1 got a reaction from gohelpyourself in Why is my doctor pushing for bypass?
I have had friends who had the bypass and regained lots of weight, and now they have malabsorption for the rest of their lives. I personally would never have the bypass..too drastic ..but to each his on. Whether we have the bypass or the sleeve..we can lose and put back the weight on ..however we need to remember these surgery are tools. .if we don't change our lifestyle with eating ..exercising and know why we go to food for comfort ..we will have a greater potential to regain the weight back. What we put in this process is wht we reap. It is a journey ..

Carlotta1 reacted to NewSetOfCurves in Need some mental support as I realize this...
I too have a husband that is fit. Always has been. He doesn't have protruding abs (he carries his excess weight in his midsection, but his pectoral muscles, arms and legs are very muscular and defined. I too refused to believe or admit how big I was. I rarely took pictures, I never owned a full length mirror, and I refused to see myself as I really was. He never told me anything, he never made me feel insecure, and--similar to you--he rarely complimented me--but his love for me was undeniable.
Now that I have lost all the weight and am close to goal, I have definitely noticed my husband's physical reaction to me. I confronted him about it. This is what he basically said: "When we first met, I was drawn to you because I was attracted to you [i was skinny before]. Then I got to know you--the you that is inside--and I was a goner. The you inside is what I love. Not the outside. When you started gaining weight, it didn't matter--other than you health--because I married you for you, not your body. However, I cannot deny that what drew me to when we first met--that basic animal, physical attraction--has re-emerged. But, no matter what happens; not matter what you look like, I will ALWAYS love you."
Point is, talk to him. He loves you. He has been by your side. He will love you no matter what.
    Good luck to you!

I have been seeing a physchologist two months prior to surgery and continue to do so. She told me I am way too hard on myself. If this is your case..be kind to yourself..understand why you went to food for comfort, and share with your husband how u feel ...your confidence and self esteem will improve as u lose wight ..however it would be good to get deep into yourself to understand the why and making peace with yourself ( or others) so that you will not use food as your comfort.

I had a hard time on purée foods. It did not hurt me.. But it would not stay down. There are plenty of symptoms that we all feel after our surgery ..some are normal, some are not. I would call my doc and explain your situation.. Just to be safe.

Protein is very important for weight loss and keeping muscle mass while u lose weight. Your dr office or your nutritionist should have given u eating guidelines for continue weight loss success. Find out this info quickly ,,u need guidance of what and how much to eat. If your doc/ hospital where u had the surgery does not have this info...the internet has tons of info of what to eat..getting in enough protein is a key cimponent to continued weight loss after the sleeve,

None.. However the first week after surgery I did have a moment of realization that my relationship with food will changeforever. I had a little melt down for one day. Just wanted to cry. I never looked back that day. Now ..no regrets at all. Food is def not my focus in life like it was preop,

Veggie Burger certainly not a soft food .. Your body is telling u it is not ready for that. I had to stay on soft foods longer till my body was able to handle something like a veggie or tofu burger.

R u exercising .. Ii am 10 weeks out and was at a stall for two weeks. I knew I had to exercise to get out of my stall. I do 30 minutes 4 days a week of medium strenuous exercise ( I do break out into a pouring sweat)and am taking swimming lessons. Once I started exercising my stall broke. I lost 3 pounds that first week of exercising and continue yo lose consistently.
How many calories and Protein r u ingesting. I am about 800 calories and 70 gprotrin. R u eating enough calories. Contact your nutritionist also. She can help.

Enjoy your stay in the hospital and let the nurses take care of you.. I was so restful in the hospital that I wanted to stay another day.v . If u do get anxious when u get to the hospital .ask for something to relax u. Ahhhhh.
And most importantly stick to the eating protocol that was given to u, either by your doc office or nutritionist when u get home. Be patient with the process,
Wishing u a speedy recovery. Mine recovery went so smooth, except for some
Weakness and tiredness the first two weeks.

Carlotta1 got a reaction from lcoll in 4 week post op stall? cant be happening!
This stall happens to most of us. Your body is adjusting to your 30 pound weight loss in 3 weeks. You can't expect your body to lose 10 pounds per weeks. I lost 18 pounds the first three weeks. Now it is slower but I am getting there. Start exercising if your dr released u to exercise. Move your body. You also want to increase your caloric. Intake a little also. See what works for u., but most of all , don't get discouraged ..keep a positive mind. And don't put all of your success on the scale., there are inches being lost, more energy being had, more of a heather body by feeding your body with healthier foods, etc. Hopefully this helps you look at the big picture.

You need to be positive and not focus on what happened in the past. Find a motivational quote, something that speaks to you. Post it on the wallpaper of your phone, computer anything that you see several times during the day. You need to remind yourself that this is for you and you only. Stay connected here and go to support groups, even after your surgery. Surround yourself with people who will keep you on track. I've told those who I'm closest too, they're the ones who maybe won't say the words if I slip, but a look is all it will take. Good Luck and BE POSITIVE, YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!!!!
