Must have been a nice surprise. Nothing taste as good as skinny. . Keep up the great job.
  2. I had the lapband to sleeve conversion and lost 40 pounds in 4 months. I also lost 10 pounds just prior to surgery. I am happy with my progress. How many calories are you ingesting. At one month, I was eating about 600 calories per day. You are really working out a lot if your calorie intake is about 600 calories. Maybe increase your calories or decrease your calorie burnt thru exercise and see how your body reacts. In my opinion, u r putting your body in stress mode if you are burning 200-300 calories thru exercise and not eating much.

    Four-Week Pre-op Diet?

Ask your dr..it may depend how much you weigh ....maybe people with less weight to lose only do 2 weeks. And others who have more weight ..say over 100 pounds have do a 4 week diet to have less risk at time of surgery.

    Need motivation

Sometimes we just have to force ourselves to ho to the gym. Committ the days and time u want to work out at the beginning. of the week. I do better working out in the morning. I also am dragging either exercise lately.. But I know what works. I just to take action. !!!!!!!!!
  5. Wishing u a speedy recovery, I love my sleeve.
  6. Groggy, no pain, no tube. Just sleepy. No nausea cause I ask for a nausea patch before I went into surgery. Anesthesia usually gets me nauseated. But not this time I took precaution. Never had pain.. Except for a little gas ache in the shoulders.

    Milestone reached today. !

Thanks to all for my yahoos
  8. As of today.. I have lost 50 pounds ...15 pounds left to go. I am in a size 8 now and decided on a goal weight of 150 pounds. That should bring me to a size 6. It has been such a great ride these past 4 months. I have no regrets .. The sleeve is a eons earful tool for me to easily control my hunger. I even have a very keen sense of head hunger now..versus real hunger. Going to a nutritionist and a psychologist since 3 months prior to surgery has been such a priceless tool to go into why I use food to soothe me in times of stress, tiredness, anger, , etc etc. I am a joyous person today.

    Favorite Motovational quote

Love this quote. Our mindset is so key to losing weight and taking action. I have "tried, and retried" to lose weight ..only to gain it back.. However, this retrying has brought me to where I am today. I would not have had the sleeve if it were nit for my retries. I always knew I would never give up trying to be at a normal , healthy weight, no matter how exhausting it was over as time went on. The sleeve is so different than being on my previous diets... And the biggest difference is my hunger. The sleeve has really diminished most of my hunger pangs. And I finally can feel satisfied with eating a healthy meal without stuffing myself with food junk. I feel like a normal person now. A person who can live lied without always obsessing on my next diet. I have no regrets with having this sleeve. I wish I had done it earlier ..but it was meant to be ..I had not even heard of the sleeve surgery 4 months before I had the surgery. My friend had the sleeve and when she told me that she has maintained her weight for over a year., ( she yoyo'd like me). I was very excited to find out more. To those who are still struggling ..your efforts will pay off one day.

6mo post op. Down 101lbs. My success ..

Wow.. What a transformation.? U look fabulous. !!!!!!!
  13. Same here..could not get much protein for several weeks after surgery. My dr told me not to worry..cause stomach was healing ..it took time for liquids to settle in my stomach without me regurgitating it. At 6 weeks is when I started eating / drinking my protein at 60 grams per day. I have since increased my protein intake since my blood results on protein was low. Now I target 80 grams. I eat cottage cheese, homemade shake with Greek yogurt , skim milk, and fruits. Chicken, regular eggs with egg whites, lots of seafood, little beef and pork, cheese sticks low in carbs and fat.

    Meds vs sleeve

I do take 2 "anti irritability" meds prescribed by my physchatrist And had no change in how I feel after the sleeve. I would suggest to wait how u feel after a couple of weeks after surgery ..before changing anything. That is just my humble opinion.

    Tips for a newbie runner

Correction on my previous post...3 minutes walking then 1 minute jogging..

    Tips for a newbie runner

I love to the 3 and 1..that is 3 minutes walking (at a fast pace, then running for three. I continue doing this cycle throughout my exercise. It is easier on my knees and I. Get a good cardio workout as well. 10 years ago , at the age of 50 I diid a marathon, (26.2 miles). Doing the 3:1 and finished it . If u find this routine is something u want to consider....buy a sports watch with intervals.. Set 3 minutes than 1 minute to beep continuously in that pattern . You can get a decent sports watch for less than $50.. Good investment. I just started going back to my 3:1 routine.
  18. Yep..had the same issue. Just do the best u can. It will get better overtime. Don't worry too much about how much protein u intake are the beginning..most people cannot get the recommended protein for a few weeks. Call your dr if you are concerned.
  19. Yes, for me the first month was.tough , however it gets easier with time. Just hang in there.. In about 6 weeks u will be having healthy, nutritious meals.

    fear of failing

Yes I had the same fear at the beginning. I had the sleeve to help me keep weight off once I loss my excess weight .. I am 4 months out and I don't have that fear anymore. As long as I stick t what has to be done to get and stay healthy..there is no reason to be afraid. I do have days when I do treat myself to an occasional ice cream, slice of pizza, speciality meal , especially when I go in a trip. I don't beat myself down anymore for the occasional treat. When I was a "diet" in the past, I felt I cheated if I had something off the plan.. Of course the sabotage began I would binge since I was not perfect on my diet. Nowadays I do have these treats and do not have the cheating mentality. This works for me. As time goes by find out what works for you. Find out your triggers to want to over eat, mine is tiredness and anxiety So when I head hunger I evaluate how am feeling physically and mentally.. Is. My body really hungry ..and how do i feel ..angry, sad, exhausted, Etc. Once I identify my trigger. I take a moment to have a few swords with myself, like "no job or person is worth for me to sabotage my health". .. You will find your way to be more confident in your choices as times go on. Be positive, be hopeful, be courageous .. Best of luck
  21. Good for u. Doesn't it feel great that u maintained your weight on a 2 week vacation. As u said, the walking probably helped a lot. Congrats on your vacation victory.

    Rate of weight loss

You are doing fine. Don't get bogged down too much with the numbers on the scale. Feel how your clothes fit, how light u will start feeling , how much more energy you will have as time goes by. Remember u r doing this for the rest of life., it will take time for concrete lifetime changes, so go slow with your weight loss journey. Weigh and measure your food, be aware of head hunger as it pops its ugly head sometimes, figure out what your bread hunger triggers are, exercise consistently. Concentrate on these changing and the weight loss wil follow.
