  1. Chronic dehydration can stress the kidneys. If you have other issues (like certain medications or high/low blood pressure) is can make it worse. Talk to your doctor. I don't want you to be alarmed, but just in case, you should report it. You might be just fine! I am finding it hard to get enough fluids. I am not as good at sipping as I was at guzzling water pre sleeve. If you are worried, you should go see your PCP. Are you taking any meds?

I had surgery at Vanderbilt last Thursday. Doing well. First 48 hours were tough but it has gotten better each day.

    help...I can't poop

5 days post op. Miralax since day 2. Getting worried. Just drank a cup of the smooth move. Dread the taste of MOM. Miralax always works pre sleeve. Frustrating!
  4. Make sure you're not doing damage to your kidneys. It's hard. I was that way pre sleeve. This is hard! I feel like all I do is sip.

    Sleeved on March 11th

Me on the 13th. But my pain is up higher, under my diaphragm.
  6. I have it. I'm 5 days post op. Feels like pressure under my diaphragm. So etimes I think it's from drinking too big of sips or too fast. But it's not like reflux. Just pressure. Sometimes it relieves with burping. I'm still burping but nothing like the gas of the first few days.
  7. I am only 5 days post op so I don't know where I'll settle in at in regards to weighing. Generally once a day in the morning after peeing. I do believe in making "corse corrections" when I see feedback. Preop, when I was eating clean, I weighed every day. When I was "cheating" I would skip weighing out of avoidance. When I finally would, I'd see the result. Weighing makes me accountable to some degree. So does MFP which I never cheat on. I lost 28 pounds preop. I've lost 10 in a week. In these early weeks, it's probably going to be all over the place. My WW scale sucked. It wouldn't vary by even an ounce for days. I got another scale and it is legit. If I miss a day, it doesn't make me crazy.

    Not feeling full

I'm 5 days post op and have moments of hunger but nothing like traditional hunger. I do get full. Very, very tight and it sort of scares me. Not so much with the shakes but more so with the puréed soups (Unjury chicken). Today I puréed some broccoli cheese, thinned with water and I was so full after 2 ounces. The colder liquids don't fill me up near as much but the hotter ones do. I'm no where near 60 g of protein or oz of water because I have to stop to rest. I've definitely had head hunger (ugly little B%#>€,). But I'm dealing with it. I get scared I'm going to stretch my sleeve so I'm trying to listen to the tightness. I get pressure under my diaphragm that I assume is fullness? I don't know. It grumbles and makes noises too but not necessarily when I feel hungry. I always heard that the stomach was numb for a while which is why everything should be measured.

    Who is in March?

I'm sorry. . I guess it's better to be safe than sorry but that won't make you feel better. What a bummer. I did just see someone who had to go back for a revision 6 months out of their sleeve because of scar tissue. This might save you a different complication later. Still, I'm bummed for you!

    Reliable set of Scales recommendations?

I hate the WW one. Was not worth the money. I went out and bought another (Thurman - I thin???) which has all these bells ans whistles and weight 3-4 pounds lighter than the WW. However, it defaults to kilos EVERY time. Drives me nuts. I programmed it for pounds but it keeps going back to kilos. I've just given up and started converting the kilos to pounds each morning. Luckily, it's one of the few calculations I remember and use from nursing school! I'm not buying another. I'll just have to deal with it!

    10 Mistakes WLS Patients Make...

Thanks for posting. Needs to be printed and posted on my forehead.

    Who is in March?

It gets better! The pain was excruciating for about an hour. Then it settled down but was bad for about a day. The nausea was the worst part for me. Good for you walking so much. I got up every hour to pee but I didn't walk til next day. Each day gets easier!

Firming lotions for the loose skin?

I was just sleeved so can't comment on skin yet. But I love the Philosophy stuff. It is expensive. I used it for a few years and I kinda think it made a difference in my arms (pre surg). Not sure anything will really work for this kind of weight loss though.

    freezing!

Freezing as I sit with a fleece blanket and space heater blowing on me. Brrr.

Four months out- bizarre occurrence today

Definitely heart meds. Get them adjusted ASAP. Critical care nurse here. Blood sugar symptoms give warning signs very different than those. You need to sit and SLOWLY rise, stand for 30 sec or so before starting to walk. WLS creates lower volume to pump around. Your heart will beat faster to compensate. Beta blockers prevent the faster heart rate. You can't compensate for activity or postural changes. Be safe! Get checked quick!

THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

Yup, week one has been on target. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - this sipping thing is a full time job! I had bronchitis the week before surgery so I've been coughing up crap and it freaking hurts! I put my binder back in today to give myself a rest. Also, I would just love to chew something. Bacon? Probably not. Sigh.....

    Who is in March?

Good for you! I promise each day gets better! Rest, sip, walk, rest! The first 48 hours were my worst.
  19. I'm 4 days post op. Finding stuff to eat of drink is so much harder than I thought it would be. It takes me 90 min to sip a protein shake! But I think I'm doing ok in general. Ready to move onto real food someday!

    Pre-op freak out! Help!

The first 48 hours are tough BUT each day has been much easier and those first days are "fuzzy" already. It's not easy but it's also not as bad as I worried about. The drugs work well. I'm down 10 pounds since surgery. The hard part is balancing hydration and feeling full which happens in an instant! But it's all worth it. Just take one min at a time. Hang in there!

    Puréed stage food ideas

How long did you wait to try those? I'm cleared for puréed but I'm nervous since I feel so full with puréed soups. I'm hungry but then instantly full. I am really wanting to move forward but I feel like I need to be a little farther out to try it. I had my surgery last Thursday.
