Me, parentals, sister and nephew - I keep thinking of that song from Sesame street when I look at this..."One of these things is not like the others..." LOL -

This is my "goal" dress and my way of seeing difference over time... -
Congratulations! That's an amazing result!

I should say that I am hoping to be sleeved though
-
Hi - I haven't been sleeved so to a certain extent I will say that I don't know what I am talking about. But sometimes with low energy (generally from a medical perspective) it can be helpful to adjust your expectation of yourself during this period. For now, it might be tough to do all you used to do. That's okay - you've had major surgery. If you can adjust your expectation about what you're going to be able to do it might make it easier to cope. You'll be kinder to yourself, take more breaks and not push yourself to the "limit". Sure you still may struggle wtih low energy but it may not worry you quite as much. I hope this is helpful Cheers, Lila

To Hear Words Skinny Miny
Lissa_S replied to gatacous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow that is amazing and congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing your success with us and what you've learned. Exercise will be really important for me as I have about 200 pounds to lose (I think that's right, I'm from Australia so we use kilo's and I am getting used to converting weights lol). Thanks again, Lila -
I find that it does help but I am still thinking about it all of the time lol Honestly I think as worried as I am about the actual surgery (although funnily enough I am getting less worried as time goes on), for the first time that I can remember I am actually excited and hopeful that something will be different. And if I can, I wanna capture that even if I am the only one who see's it, particularly to use for motivation later on when I am struggling to get the last of the weight off and it's being a bit stubborn (which I am told happens). I have so much weight to lose though (about 200 pounds) so as you can imagine I am very much keeping an eye on the long term outcomes too. Good luck and I look forward to chatting with you about how you're going and your successes!!!! Cheers, Lila

Wow that is awesome! Congrats!

These are great idea's to deal with the 'head hunger'. I am worried that I will have the same problems when I start my pre-op diet. Will keep these idea's in mind in a few weeks when I do my pre-op diet

I have started recording my thoughts but am not sure if I will ever post them either. I would definitely be using an alias as I want to keep it a bit anonymous but I too have found that the long term vlog's on youtube have been wonderful. I would also like to be a part of that for someone else but am nervous. For now, I am recording them for me and I will make a decision about uploading a little later. Good luck with your decision!

I completely agree with CdnExpat! In the past, would you have bothered to look up on the net to see what the calorie content was? that is a change. The fact you are seeking other options besides falling into the "food trap" means further change. Sure we will make mistakes on this - not to be corney but it's a journey. With many paths and roads, hazards and detours. But by doing what you are doing, searching for another alternative to get to your destination (nope, I'm not done with this analogy yet , you're winning. it's small victories but if you can start to celebrate them and then plan actions to adjust when things aren't going so well, you are going to succeed in the long-run. Keep up the great work!! Cheers, Lila

Good luck! I hope that the exam isn't too hard!

I have similar concerns...I am hoping that I will be able to have some of these questions answered when I see the surgeon in 10 days! If I get any good information, I'll share

Nothing much to offer unfortunately but congratulations on getting your surgery. I look forward to hearing about all your successes

4 Days After Surgery And Worried
Lissa_S replied to girlnamedNikki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also wonder if it isn't a little psychological - at the moment, you're probably so mentally focused on feeling full and you've risked so much for this change, it could be your 'lil ole brain wanting to play silly-buggers Try a little distraction if you're up to it and maybe have a chat about it to a close friend or family member who understands. If you like go "go it alone" perhaps you could just journal a little? Start with all of the thoughts you're having, and how it's making you feel. Then consider what is happening to your behaviour. Once you've done that, go back to the thoughts and ask yourself if they are helping you or hurting you? How can you slightly change those thoughts so that the feelings are less intense (or if you're really good at this, eliminated) and if that is having a change in your behaviour. An example might be: Original Thought - If I don't have something to eat I am going to be sick. Original feelings - worried, hungry, sick, frustrated, annoyed Behaviour - to have something to eat or drink that perhaps I don't really need Modified Thought - If I am feeling sick, maybe I need to move around and have a little to drink. If I am still hungry in half an hour or so, I can consider trying something light to eat. Modified Feelings - still worried, but maybe a little less. Still probably feeling sick, frustrated and annoyed but again I would expect it to be a little less intense a feeling. Modified behavioural options - I still might have something to eat, but it's something I've considered and given myself time to try something different Maybe I will have a drink and see how I feel in half an hour Go for a little walk or phone a friend/ watch TV/ read etc (distraction). This may or may not work for you but it might just help analyse why this is happening to you if it's not a physiological thing. If you have a psychologist involved they will be able to help you with this (it's a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach). I hope that this helps in some small way! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your many successes and new adventures post-surgery! Cheers, Melissa -
I know what you mean - it's awful having to worry about if you will fit in the chair etc. Good luck with your surgery! And enjoy your new chair in the meantime!!

I too understand what it's like. I have my first appointment coming up with the surgeon on July 25 and all going well, I should have a surgery date early in September (it seems to move more quickly here in Australia). Realistically, it's only 6 weeks away which sounds like a long time but I am sure it will go very fast!! Good luck with your surgery! I look forward to hearing of your many successes!

That is simply amazing! It's life changing - I find that I can't even imagine what I will be like at the end of this, what I will look like It's an adventure!!
-
That's fantastic! I hope that my experience is as fast as yours. How did you cope with the pre-op diet? I haven't tried optislim before but am thinking I might get some to try...Congratuations on your weight loss to date - it's amazing!!

Hi I am in Gunnedah in rural NSW but I am having my op on the Gold Coast. How are you feeling? Is the pain etc as bad as I've seen in Youtube posts???

Sleeved July 10Th! My Story.
Lissa_S replied to lizzybeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for posting this as I am hoping to get my surgery date in September and being detail oriented, your account settled my nerves heaps!! -
It's interesting to hear the process you have to go through - I am from Australia and have my first appointments in a few weeks. i too was hoping that I would be able to book surgery quickly and now I am a bit worried. Fingers crossed i'll have good news and will be able to have my surgery sooner rather than later. Good luck to everyone else waiting for their surgeries!
