teacherlady2133 got a reaction from April83 in Friendships and Gastric bypass surgery
Be prepared for it to change... You will change, your outlook on things will change, and how you allow others to treat you will change...I have had only one friend that I lost.. But I think it was a combination of things going on... Her own issues of fitting in and proving herself as good enough... She has taken up working out and eating different and changing her life which I am glad, but I am not competing with anyone anymore... I am too old for that high school stuff... My family has been very supportive even when they can not relate to my issues... They try... I have one friend that supports the changes in me... Tells me all the time she likes the new me.. How I am more out going and voice my stuff more...
This is more than just a physical change... I wish I knew before surgery more how my thoughts and feelings would have to adjust...

    I am 6 1/2 months out. Down 130.
88 pounds since surgery date. Weight has came off steady. I lose in chucks then body plays catch up.. I started at 347HW. SW 305 current weight of last week 217. The inches are amazing. I have went from a size 28/30 to a 14/16. 3-4x to a large/xlarge depending on clothing.
I think my losses could be even more if I could find more time to exercise..

teacherlady2133 got a reaction from Alex Brecher in Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
Yes, I would have the surgery again , for the weight loss and for having control over food. I am 7 months out and no complications physically except hair loss but that is normal.
No, I would not have the surgery for the mental changes. I just wish I knew how much I was going to change mentally before hand. I was a strong woman before my surgery. I could face many stressful disruptions in my life and keep pressing forward. Today any stress makes me sick. I throw up, I cry, I shut down. I feel like I can't handle things like I normally would. I am forgetful and at times confused.
I thought under all this weight was a firecracker of a woman, but really I found I am uncovering a broken little girl. At times this is hard to deal with and I miss not having to deal with these emotions or feelings. The overwhelming feeling of not fitting in and being normal is stronger now then when I weighted 350.
Like any choice there are two sides. I understand all the yeses, I too would do it again. I also understand the when others say No.

teacherlady2133 got a reaction from katesuccess in New face.. New Make up
I am open to any suggestions as this is an unsure area for me...
I would never claim I knew how to properly put makeup on my old face but now it seems like I really am missing the mark...
I have been think about when I learned to put make up on and it was around 14 messing with my grandma's old stuff in her bathroom.. Loved that black eye liner and dried up mascara...
Until I was 16 I had never even bought new makeup and then it was wet and wild.. Needless to say I was overweight and covered with acne then and have only ever seen my
Overweight face and neck all made up.. So now on my almost 40 year old, 190 pound face things just don't look right.. Now the makeup has gotten a little better in brands..Cover girl or similar but application doesn't work the same...
I was thinking of maybe going to even more expensive makeup seeing if that would help..
I am a teacher so makeup is part of my daily route..
Would love any suggestions about brands or how you adjusted..

teacherlady2133 got a reaction from momto3daughters in How did your weight loss affect your marriage/relationship?
I have been married 16 years and to be honest the closer I get to goal the harder things are getting between us. We have always been best friends and he married me heavy and loved me no matter what.. Now that I am 165lbs lighter there has been some real insecurity issues in both of us popping up.. Me in my looks and what others think and see.. He has the same issues about me but doesn't know how to deal with it... Last night we talked about how he never had to worry about me getting hit on or talked to by other guys.. I laughed because of my own issues can't image men talking to me...but the truth is guys are starting to talk to me.. They do seem to be more ready to open doors or say hi as I walk in places...
I love my husband and have never ever wanted this attention from anyone but him... I saw a different side of him last night and how he doesn't know how to be excited about the changes without feeling his own insecurities about himself...
We vowed to keep talking to keep working on how to react to this major change in our life and what it means for each other...I think that is such a key... Talk, talk, talk.... And see this not a one-sided change...

Wearing a necklace bought over the counter as a gift from my daughter! I can't tell you how many dollar necklace I have in the bottom of my jewelry box because never could fit... Yesterday she came running and I was like sweetie you know that won't... In mid sentence she slipped it around my neck and clasped it and yes it does!!!!
    And yes it does!!

Married 16 years... My husband has been Very supportive, but there has been issues.. One comes from others... He gets very upset when others say I bet he is so excited and happy, or what does your husband think... He takes them questioning that he loved me heavy.. Or that now he loves me more since I am thinner..
Something else I think has happened is how to handle my new interest or new experiences I want to have.. Sometimes the tension of doing things together where I want to try things and he wants to watch is there...
The emotions of all the physical changes can also causes tension.. My own tears still over clothes fitting right. He is kind and tries to understand I have good days and bad days no matter my size...
He tells me everyday I am his world and anything that will keep me here longer was worth everything we go through...we did this for my health... And it has gotten so much better...

Being able to talk to strangers. This is such a big deal. I hadn't noticed the change but my son pointed it out at a football game. Then today I was able to talk, to sit and hold a conversation with a a group of strangers and never felt out of place.

In 2 days I have been described with the adjective of thin. I have never been called thin in all my 37 years! Having new adjectives in how people describe me is a NSV.

Got to love children.... I was told can't believe how flexible you are now mom. You can crawl into a ball in chairs. I hadn't noticed but I like sitting with my legs up tight to my chest.. Big change to have my knees to my chest...

Ok, here I am down from 350 to 197 over 150 gone.. Sizes are amazing when looking at numbers size 12/14 from a 30/32 and medium from a 4x..Off all medication, except vitamins... Why can't I see it? I see just a shrunk up me.. I see rolls lots of them.. I love spanx..if I could I would sleep in them.. Not just for the look but the feel of my body being tight..
My goal weight was 180, I think my bones are made of steel! I am 5'8, turning 38, with 3 c-sections and over weight since I was 12...I am 9 months post-op from WLS.
I keep thinking loving myself the way I did at 350 has really messed up my body vision..what and how should I feel about myself now.. Do I learn to love me how I am, or should I be judging myself hard, so I keep pushing to make more and more changes...but the question is change into what? I mean the damage being over weight created on my body just isn't going away and now I am a super model...I think that is my problem... I want something to compare too and everyone is so different and has different background stories..
I am driving my family nuts when I ask if I am so and so size, or am I as small as her? Does this go away?
