  1. Hello. I was told to always weigh and measure everything I put in my mouth. After surgery I didn't have a full feeling like I did prior. I was also told just because I could doesn't mean I should. Measure out your food, eat dense protein first, and then see if you can get some veggies in. I too at first felt I could have eaten more and then one day my pouch said "hello!" All of the sudden I felt the restriction that I thought I should have had. Your body of healing so give it a minute but my suggestion would be to weigh and measure. I still do it at almost 10 months out and plan to continue. It helps me to stay on track with weight loss and to know how much protein, carbs, and fats are in my diet.

    What's wrong with me?

I understand where you are coming from. I have used my weight to keep people away for so long and now that I am getting thinner I am getting attention from men. Although it is flattering it is really uncomfortable. When I do get attention my first response it to grab something to eat. Therapy is a good for me. I need to work on my head as well as my physical health. I wish you the best.

    4 months out today!

    Awesome Sauce! Very inspiring.
  4. I am feeling grateful that I was given this opportunity to improve my life. I love getting up every morning in this body of mine, flaws and all.

  5. At first I couldn't tell when I was full do to the nerve being cut. I stayed to my plan which was 2oz. Just because he can really doesn't mean he should. I am still new at 7 months but I am still weighing, measuring, and recording everything I eat. I don't plan on that changing either. It is also easier to overeat on soft foods such as refried beans.
  6. In the beginning I didn't have a sense of fullness or hunger I believe due to the fact that the nerve is cut. The sense of fullness did come back. I was told to weigh and measure everything that I ate and to follow my plan. At 4 weeks out my plan was about 400-500 calories with 60-70 grams of protein but everybody's surgeon has a different plan it seems. Liquids such as protein drinks and other fluids have always been really easy for me to get down and I am grateful for that. Just follow your plan and it will work. I too was nervous that it wouldn't work for me but it is working because I am working the plan. Congrats on the pouch!

In search of 5'2" results pics.

I am 5'2 but started at 332. Now 180. Surgery 2/24/14 and down to a size 13/14 from 28/30 pants. I will try to post pics on my profile if I can figure it out on my darn phone. If I can do this so can you. Congrats on your new way of life. So worth it!
  9. To Katesucess, I just had my surgery with Jeffery Landers on 2.24. They told us at the beginning it was going to be a long wait. I requested from my pcp on August 15th so it only took a little over 6 months. The time went fast. Spent it getting as much info as possible. It sounds like you are too. I hope it goes faster than expecte for you too. I too was frustrated with the nut appointments so I made a long list for my post op phone appointment and she was much more informative. I still think 500 bucks is to much for 4 appointments and only 2 are office visits. Although I had rny the experience was way easier than i expected. Landers is an awesome surgeon. I wish you the best. It has been totally worth it. Overall I have lost a total of 71 pounds, 50 was preop that i started on my own on 12.20.13. I am so excited for you. Mo

      That's very inspiring!!!

  11. The nurse told my that it might sting for a few minutes but it didn't. It just felt really weird. I could feel it unraveling in my belly but it didn't hurt at all. They took mine out that day after my surgery so it wasn't in very long. Hope you are doing well!

    February Surgeries

I got the call this morning letting me know that my surgery time is at 7:30 this Monday morning. I have been so anxious and excited this past week. I have been in a non-stop cleaning frenzy because when I sit down my mind just spins. At least my house is clean actually at this point it is a bit sterile. I have been on this pre-op diet for almost a month and it has been difficult but at least I have already dropped two pant sizes. I hope everyone who has already had their surgery is healing well and to those who surgeries are yet to come I wish you the best. Mo
  13. I started walking at the mall. I am not comfortable going to a gym yet and I don't think I can really do much but walk now anyways. I started walking for 30 minutes at a pretty slow pace. Now I am up to around 60 minutes at a bit faster pace. I have been doing this for about a month. I try to get there at least 3 days a week. I am lucky to have the mall close by. I live in Washington so it is mostly wet outside and I am not that much of a trooper.
  14. Got a call from the hospital today to do my preregistration. I still have to the 24th for my surgery but it is just so exciting that this is happening!

How did it go? I haven't been on in a while otherwise I would have responded sooner. A week prior to my surgery I kind of went a bit nuts and totally cleaned out my house due to the anxiety. Every closet and every drawer was organized. I didn't get much sleep. I hope you had a great experience for your surgery. Mine was a lot easier to recover than I thought it would be. All I can say is eating is a chore. I haven't been hungry and the only reason I eat is for the protein. Getting 60-70 grams in and staying between 300 and 500 calories. Trying to wean off of protein drinks and I am down to a half a day. I do supplement some of my food with Beneprotein. Hope you are doing great! Congrats on a new life. Mo

    February Surgeries

OMG... I knew the pre-op diet was going to be tough but I am only on day 6 of 30 and it seems like forever. I can honestly say I am hungry. My sense of smell has gone hog wild. I was walking the mall this morning and I could smell the pretzel shop food and they weren't even open. I don't even want to eat crap. I would settle for a dried out chicken breast at this point. 3 shakes and a protein bar is not much. I know I can do this but I just needed to vent a bit. It is a means to an end and if it can make my surgery safer and my recovery easier I can and will do this thing. It can only make me stronger, right? Thanks for listening to my whining.
