Oh yeah, I'm only a little over 3 months out! Surgery was 12-16-14.
-
I too was only eating about 600-700 calories a day but actually only netting about 400 or so with working out. A couple of weeks ago at the support group meeting the nurse suggested I up my calories. It's only been one full week but I went from losing 1.8 pounds to 4.4 this week. I'm now eating about 900 or so a day.

Is it necessary to drink protein shakes?
MGR1852 replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat try to eat high protein foods at every meal. I typically don't get in the 60 grams ( my doc's recommendation) a day but I simply can't do the shakes. After surgery, the taste makes me sick. I would rather not get the correct amount than throw up everyday. I eat baked pork chops, steak, chicken, some lean hamburger. It's worked for me. I've lost 91 pounds since I started this journey and 50 since surgery. Everyone has to do what works for them. -

HW 322 March 2013 SW 278 December 16, 2013 CW 230.4 Getting close to the 100 pound mark! Clothes sizes are going down nearly as fast! Love it! -
I also track all my food on MyFitnessPal. It keeps me honest and it's a constant reminder to not over-eat!

I'm not perfect by any means. I try to do right but I have only gotten in 60 grams of protein ( my doc's recommended amount) ONE day since surgery on 12-16-13. I do eat protein at every meal and try to eat it first. I have never gotten in 64 ounces of water--never! And, I can't stand the protein shakes. But, I have been exercising more since I had surgery. I've lost about 45 pounds since surgery. That's an average of 2-4 pounds a week. I also lost 40 pounds pre-op. I'm satisfied with my results. Down from 322 to 233.8!!

sleeved on 1/27/2014 food tastes so gross
MGR1852 replied to cdestrada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12-16 and there are a lot of days nothing sounds good. I linger and linger in the kitchen just dreading having to eat a meal. Other days, it's not as bad. I'm hopeful it will get better as time goes on..... -

Lettuce? Any problems? How Long?
MGR1852 replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first salad last week, spinach leaves only. It went down fine with no problems. I'm about 10 weeks out--surgery 12-16-13. -
The bill for the two night stay, anesthesia, & surgeon said $32,000. I paid my out-of-pocket maximum of $1500 and about $250 co-pays for the physician supervised diet (supposed to be 6 months but dragged on for 10)! Blessed to have a good job and great insurance!

I average about 800 calories a day but net about 600 usually after I exercise.

Hi all! Had a great NSV today. I'm moved to "severely obese" now rather than being "morbidly obese" thanks to my 4 pound weight loss this week! That's 80.4 pounds down so far in this journey! I've had to get new clothes because my old ones are just falling off. Great problems to have! HW 322 (March 2013) SW 278 (Dec 16, 2013) CW 241.6 -

1 month out, how many calories?
MGR1852 replied to kahlualouie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two months out and eat, on average, between 650-700 calories a day. I am exercising everyday so I am not "netting" that many calories. I have not eaten 900 calories yet. -

HW 322 (March 2013) SW 278 (Dec 16, 2013) CW 256.2 I'm so excited because all week I felt like I wasn't losing. Surprise, surprise, I lost 2.8 pounds this week!! -
Whole wheat pasta and brown rice are on my list of approved foods for weeks 2-6. I haven't tried any yet (5 weeks out) but will eventually. I was never a big bread eater before surgery so I don't think carbs are a "trigger" for me.

Not getting enough calories or protein!
MGR1852 replied to Ree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ree, I can totally relate. I can't stand the shakes. Premier is disgusting! Syntrax is disgusting! Even the thought of a shake makes me want to throw up! Today, I have 215 net calories and 33 grams of protein. I ate half of a Premier protein bar for breakfast, 2 oz of turkey & 1 slice of Swiss cheese for lunch, and about 3 ozs of broccoli cheese soup for dinner. I had a frozen yogurt for a snack. I have only gotten about 16 ozs of water today. I am 5 weeks out and just struggling. -
This was my first surgery, first IV, first everything! I had only had a couple of blood draws before I decided to do this surgery. In my opinion, and I have nothing to compare it to, the sleeve surgery was no problem. I had more trouble with no ice chips, no liquids for 24 hours than I did actual pain. I used the morphine pump several times throughout the day but last used it at midnight the day of surgery. I was up walking to the bathroom a few hours after surgery & walking the halls the next two days. So, if I can do it you can too!
