  1. So, not that I'm complaining, but I think it's weird that I can fit into size 10 pants and dresses and yet I weigh 193lbs... I don't get it. That seems strange, no?

I agree with woo woo. What is now a misses size 10 would have been labeled a 12 a few years ago.

  2. I have cravings for chocolate, need some advice guys

There are Quest protein bars with chocolate in them. There are calcium supplements that are chocolate flavored. And there are protein drinks that are chocolate flavored.

Cravings for chocolate MAY mean you are magnesium deficient, but it's not a given. You could be craving chocolate just because you love chocolate!

  3. Surgiversary: 7 mos out today. Down 53 lbs, with 21 to go. Happy dance!

  4. Down 36 pounds now since one week preop 4/4/14. Was hoping for more but being realistic the 36lbs down is pretty good. I would love to be out of the 300s by the end of June. I'm optimistic but, can it be done?

  5. After my surgery nearly 5 years ago.......I've had complications simply taking over the counter medications. The Drs have no answers and I feel stuck with allergies.

      JeanZ_RN

      What kind of complications?

  6. Ok, so I found a snack that I can eat that is almost like having potato chips? If your interested, it's Pork rinds. They have no carbs, and are protein and they curb that snacky craving!!! Check it out!!!

I agree they're like chips. To me they're ok with tuna, and it does give you that crunch.

  8. Dining Out and Small Victories: Yes, there are small victories that overshadow the number on the scale. Today was my first day eating out. My siblings and I took mom out to dinner for Mother's Day (and no I did not monitor her bite sizes....just mine). The restaurant we went to, make the best onion ring appetizers in town...or so we think. My family would have opted out of getting them for my sake but, I gotta learn how to do this eventually so, what better time than the present. I encouraged them to go for it. Of course when they brought them out the waiter sat the dish directly in front of me to savor its delicious aroma...and I did. Surprisingly, that was enough. The family enjoyed the onion rings and I enjoyed them enjoying the onion rings. And then for another first I ordered something totally different from my usual fare, which we won't ruminate on right now. So, my meal (lunch size) consisted of grilled salmon on a bed of rice (my rice was quickly shuffled off to my sister's plate), steamed broccoli, and black beans. Although the salmon was delicious I only finished a third of it and had room left for three broccoli florets and a spoon of black beans....no water yet...that was hard. Still trying to adjust to the water regimen. The remainder of the meal was packed away in the appropriate container and brought home to enjoy for at least two more meals. All in all I'd say it was a very successful dining out experience.

    1. JeanZ_RN

Yes, I had mine repaired during sleeve surgery. If the surgeon hadn't told me he did it I would not have known - absolutely no problems.
