  1. A forever stall and the culprit is Skinny Pop Popcorn and Pumpkin Seeds. Not over eating because I can't but definitely grazing like mad and not eating the protein that I should. I had a spark of inspiration and then it fizzled. Maybe I just need to get my mouth wired shut!

you don't need your mouth wired shut, you just need to be more self conscious on what your putting in your mouth and how often. I know it's hard honey, but you can do this!!! I still have a hard time with getting my protein in but I do my best, and I am down to my goal weight but I still have to make sure I eat right to make sure I don't go back to where I came from. I have days where I feel like I over eat, and luckily I step on the scale and I haven't moved, but still it could happen, and so I am very conscious about what goes in. Good luck girl, I know you can do this just take it one day at a time!!!

I dont know what to do!

Do the 5-day fast and see if that helps. I'm considering it too.
  3. Still can't eat fish! That makes me really sad :(

  4. Yes, I did...but it didn't. Still struggling to get to my goal weight loss. I am having the hardest time with food which is why I got the surgery. I still don't eat a lot, but I do and can eat small portions of the wrong foods though. Sometimes I wish I had just gotten the bypass instead so that I could see more of a drastic weight loss.
  5. Gut bacteria may decrease weight loss from bariatric surgery What do you think about this? Date: March 6, 2015 Source: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Summary: Some patients do not experience the optimal weight loss from bariatric surgery. The presence of a specific methane gas-producing organism in the gastrointestinal tract may account for a decrease in optimal weight loss, according to new research. The benefits of weight loss surgery, along with a treatment plan that includes exercise and dietary changes, are well documented. In addition to a significant decrease in body mass, many patients find their risk factors for heart disease are drastically lowered and blood sugar regulation is improved for those with Type 2 diabetes. Some patients, however, do not experience the optimal weight loss from bariatric surgery. The presence of a specific methane gas-producing organism in the gastrointestinal tract may account for a decrease in optimal weight loss, according to new research by Ruchi Mathur, MD, director of the Diabetes Outpatient Treatment and Education Center at Cedars-Sinai. "We looked at 156 obese adults who either had Roux-en-Y bypass surgery or received a gastric sleeve. Four months after surgery we gave them a breath test, which provides a way of measuring gases produced by microbes in the gut," said Mathur. "We found that those whose breath test revealed higher concentrations of both methane and hydrogen were the ones who had the lowest percentage of weight loss and lowest reduction in BMI (body mass index) when compared to others in the study." The methane-producing microorganism methanobrevibacter smithii is the biggest maker of methane in the gut, says Mathur, and may be the culprit thwarting significant weight loss in bariatric patient. Mathur and her colleagues are conducting further studies to explore the role this organism plays in human metabolism. While that research continues, bariatric patients may still have options to improve weight loss after surgery. "Identifying individuals with this pattern of intestinal gas production may allow for interventions through diet. In the future there may be therapeutic drugs that can improve a patient's post-surgical course and help them achieve optimal weight loss," said Mathur. The study, "Intestinal Methane Production is Associated with Decreased Weight Loss Following Bariatric Surgery" was done in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. The paper is being presented by Mathur Thursday, March 5, at the 97th annual meeting of the Endocrine Society in San Diego. 6. I have heard about fecal transplants recently and really enjoyed your story Kindle. Now, outside of the c-diff, did you lose the weight because of the poo transplant or the surgery AND do you now eat different with a skinny gene?

    Thoughts after 2 years

Hey Sharonintx, it is good to know about your journey. I am one that has stopped losing weight. I stopped in August some time. I feel sooo great in my skin. I'm also not where I want to be in a size 12 but I'm, a 16 and honestly feel awesome, sexy, confident and empowered where I am. I have asked myself if I want to try to reach my goal and I do, just without the stress of keeping up with others. That's too much of a head stress. Again, congrats on your successes. The sleeve is a wonderful tool that boldly reminds us to watch what we eat.
  8. I was in a panic this week because I tried on a blouse that I had been wearing and it was too small. FREAKED ME OUT! So I got on the scale with a lot of trepidation to find out that I am still at the same weight I've been at over the past 6 months - WHEW!!! Turns out, my husband did the was and shrunk my blouse :( but glad :) all at the same time!

    When Can You Eat Lettuce?

I find that when I eat lettuce, 'baby' starts growling something awful! I have to eat it when I have no where to go and then sometimes it just comes up. 10 months out.
  10. The only reason I haven't posted anything is because I have slipped. No, I haven't gained, but I sure haven't lost either. Just staying at where I am right now. One excuse I have is stress. It has been a stressful year and not letting up. I know that exercising would help me to get back on the losing end, but just having the energy to exercise is a problem. I think I need intervention, quite honestly.

Girl, I know stress can get us in a bad place, I have been under a lot of stress myself lately, but you have to push past that, and just do what you know is right for yourself, I have faith in you to get back on track, and motivated!!! have faith in yourself!!!

Thank you everyone for all of your kind words of support. My mind wants to exercise and do the 5-day pouch test to jumpstart my process all over again. Another thing that I found encouraging is watching those shows "600-lb Life" it is making me want to just get moving. I'm coming along and truly believe that I will get there really soon. Thanks again!

  11. Wow, I haven't posted anything since December 17! Well, I'm back and with a better attitude. I'm realizing that exercise is the only thing that will help me during these tough times, so I'm making plans to HIT THAT GYM! Yep, the gym to see if I can shock my long aggravating stall back into 'How you do'in' phase!!!

I am so glad that I feel better too, that was a rough month and a half, cause literally right after I started feeling better from the surgery I got sick, and it's just been awful, but now I am starting to feel normal all around and I need to get my motivation to get moving and get to a gym, and start working out, I only have 22-1/2 weeks till the wedding and I need to get these pounds that I want gone to be gone. Thankfully I only gained like 2 lbs during the holidays and with the surgery and everything and I have now already gotten that off, but now I just need to get to the below that point and get to my goal. We only have 2 months till our one year surgery anniversary!!! I know I am not going to loose 24 lbs in 2 months but I can try to get close!!!

I'm with you both! GET MY BUTT TO THE GYM!! I have about 5-9 pounds to first goal and want to go a bit further for a little comfort zone. I wish I LOVED working out...but I DON"T ha!! Glad I'm not the only one struggling with the exercise piece.

    4. Tlmarsh

      Tlmarsh

I am almost 2 years out from my surgery and I gained 5 lbs over the holidays without even realizing it! I didn't make my usual cookies, which I can't control, and I didn't make any sweet breads, another big temptation. I must have just let too many carbs in. I went thru a phase where food just didn't taste good at all and I was eating corn dogs, I know terrible choice. I wonder if that was enough to push me back? I was eating 2 every day for lunch. Then I started craving carbs like crazy over the last couple weeks. I got myself on my Pilates machine again yesterday and did a 20 minute aerobic dance workout and I do feel so good about that. And I have gone back to eating protein drinks and soup for a couple days to shrink my stomach again. (Kind of like the 5 day pouch test) but I haven't been eating large quantities, just not staying full like I used to. I think it's just a phase and I will get myself back on track now. Especially with exercising again. I can't believe how ROTTEN I feel when I don't work out and how GOOD I feel when I do!!! And still it's so easy to sit on that couch and not move!! I work at home on a computer so if I don't work at it I could just not move much in a day at all.

  12. I have a 'crack' habit and it's called Skinny Pop Popcorn. My husband was buying bags of the stuff and I was throwing them back! So, I had to make him promise that he wouldn't bring me any until the weekends and I haven't really missed it that much. Getting back on my grind!!!!

LMAO, I have never seen Skinny pop popcorn? I guess I am going to have to try that one if its like crack? LMAO, I am so not a drug girl, and couldn't imagine ever even starting but I like popcorn and I usually get the smart pop?

      rome

So easy to scarf that stuff down!! I had to take it out of the cupboard too!

  13. Good for you for realizing that you need to get back on your grind. I can completely understand stress eating because I have been under quite a bit for about 5-6 months on the job. What I have done is surround myself with good snacks in the fridge and I have told my husband to stop buying me my 'crack' habit which is Skinny Pop Popcorn. He couldn't wrap his head around why popcorn is so bad for you in excess, so I broke it down to the way that we see food and he got it. Now, because I still need it, I ask that he only brings two bags home on the weekends ONLY. So my cheat days are the weekends. Good luck on getting back in the swing of things, I'm rooting for you and watching
  14. My FAB boss is advocating for me to only have her as a boss and to reinstate me on one campus which means that I could potentially become the Dean of Customized Training and Development! As you noticed, I used the words, 'working on' and 'could' so nothing's guaranteed, so I still keep my eyes open and up head up!

    Your dream outfit

Well, the only thing that I want to be able to wear is a halter top. This may not happen unless I get a few nip/tucks which I don't lean towards. My arms swing and my back will have some fat...what to do?
  16. Great article and very timely!
  17. My friends have heard that I have been dealing with stress in my eating life - Not Good - but hopefully this will be coming to an end soon. My job downsized and merged leaving me to work with a micro-manager 50% of the time and the other 50% working with a FABU boss so leaving was the only option. HOWEVER, I am now the only one standing and things are looking up which means down in pounds baby!!!

    1. ProudGrammy

      ProudGrammy

"only one standing and things are looking up which means down in pounds baby!!! " ? you are still working? leaving was the only option.??

i guess i'm slow!!! are things ok - you ARE still working?? - hope things move along at work for the better - you are doing terrific with weight loss - keep up the good job

    2. BladeFox

      BladeFox

No, I'm still working @proudgrammy through the merger. I am the last of the team that is still here and because of this, I may actually be offered a better opportunity where I report to only one person only and become permanent. "...only one standing and things are looking up which means down in pounds..." I also interviewed for another position that I hope to hear from by either tomorrow or Wednesday of next week, so it's looking up for me!

  18. I got in about 3 weekdays without cheating. I'm gonna build that up to 5 next week and the following week I will be DONE! I have got to get over this mental issue or horrible boss, whichever comes first I will take it!

Hey chicky been away for the past 2 weeks from the site, don't like the mobile app, so I just wanted to get back at you on this, glad you knew you needed that time off to figure things out. That's great. I hope things are back on track for you and your figured things out so you can move forward. I am very happy to have gotten the chance to get to know you a bit through this site, and hope you find something that will make you happy. How did the interview go?

    3. BladeFox

      BladeFox

Thanks Pup, more things continue t happen here and questions how long I should stick it out. The interview went very good but they went with another candidate, yet I still push for other opportunities when they arise. I am slowly getting back to my post op diet by cutting out one bad habit after another. I haven't gained any weight and actually lost a couple of pounds, but it's still not good enough. I'm hoping the new year will be for the better and I can CATCH A BREAK! Hope all is well with you Ms. Sexy :)

    4. pupichupi

      pupichupi

LMAO, Ms.Sexy? lol I am doing well, went to post op appt yesterday and they said that I won't feel better till probably mid January, so it's been tough, and although I am feeling better then I was a week and a half ago, I am still in some pain and sore? Well my dear, if this job thing is effecting your health in a bad way then maybe your right maybe it is time to move forward to something different to where it will be copacetic to you weight loss? You are a great person and you will catch that BREAK that you want so badly, I just know it. You kept telling me to just keep in there and the weight would come off when I was on that month stall and I did and I lost 5lbs in one week to throw me under the 200's so I know you can do the same!!! Keep doing what you know you have to do for you, and you will get there!!!

  19. BladeFox

    Slump?

Consider adding more 'good' calories to your diet. You may need to begin eating more to jumpstart your weight loss. I have been stuck on 64 pounds for about 3 months now and know that I am allowing creeps into my diet (skinny pop popcorn, bite size chocolates, and some starches), I haven't gained any weight just stalled, so monitor like hell. Good to know that you are keeping an eye on things, it's when you don't that becomes a problem.
  20. Can someone thump me and make me stop cheating when I'm stressed!!! Dang, good for a few days then my micro-manager will do or say something that get's under my skin and I turn to food - Geez!!!! I'm looking for another job so soon...

      Ginger Snaps

Funny -- when I first read it I thought you said "stop cleaning"! Maybe you should take up intensive cleaning instead of eating! Try to find something healthy to replace cheating -- maybe take a short fast walk or do some planks or something or maybe just have some almonds or a healthy snack on hand and count it into your daily plan.

    3. BladeFox

      BladeFox

@Ginger Snaps, I have started cleaning more...funny! Ah, but yeah, I need to stop the madness!

    4. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Blade I'm sorry to hear about the stress!!! You have the control of what your gonna let effect you, if you know this is gonna happen I would say always carry some carrot stick and other veggies that you can turn to instead of the junk??? Just something to think about??? Good luck him!!!

    Feeling blue

Dullness happens! Let it. Lose all the weight that you can during the dull phase because when your tastebuds broaden, there is no stopping. Tell yourself to bring on lackluster and dullness!
  22. To be completely honest, when I'm good, I weight myself weekly - however; when I'm bad, I weight myself monthly. I've realized that I'm still a smart dieting foodie and can maneuver around my restriction.
  23. BladeFox

What percent of stomach was taken?

    Same here, about 80-85%.
  24. I wonder about mine as well because I seemed to have plateaued too early in the game. I have slowed down too much and don't seem to have much restriction. I mean I still get sick at times but it is because of oils that are hidden in foods that I eat and not because I overeat. How did you determine there was a problem? What did the other doctor have you do to that helped them realize that your pouch was too big? I would love to know and ask that you inbox me to discuss. Good luck on your revision!
