    Vitamin question

I think you can take them in pill form but you would have to cut them to ensure that you don't get it logged between your esophagus and your baby stomach. Plus, it's more work if you have a busy schedule. Try taking the gummy. I switched to pill form when I was six months out taking half in the morning and the other half in the evening. I was sooo happy when I switched from gummy to regular pills so I get your pain. Good luck, you're still a newby so stick with the program for a bit longer.
  2. Officially size 16! I have tampered with size 18 too long to realize that they just don't do justice to this fine body any longer :P

Isn't it great getting down to the next size? I am in a 14 and on the verge of going down to the next size, but not quite there yet? I love going down in the size department but I don't like buying or finding all new cloths? I have a few pairs of jeans right now that I love but they are getting loose and I have to wear a belt with all of them? Even my skinny jeans?

Awesome. So great to hear about your success. I'm almost down to an 18. Can wear some 18s in certain pants. Hope you can make it to the next get together!! It's December 20 at 10:00 at the Perkins in Fridley.

  3. So, I have stopped the creep! Adding in skinny popcorn, taking a bite or two of candy here and there, snacking on my husbands blue chips because I can. It is time to get re-focused with this and since stopping...my creepy crawler has returned from my stomach. The 'monster that lives within' has resurfaced :)

I does sneak up on you... I have noticed a little more "picking" at something laying on the table, eating that french fry out of the bag on the way home with my son's food. It's definitely something to stay aware of and be on guard for.

It's great to know that I haven't ruined my 'sleeved' pouch with this stuff because it is picking up on signals of fullness again! Also, it is interesting to note that when you go back to those foods that got us this way in the first place, how you can actually eat more of it and never feel full. Something's definitely wrong with our food industry!

    3. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Not to mention how crappy those food make you feel after eating so good for months on months. I know when I eat the crappy foods after not eating them they make me feel sick!!! Then I feel bad too????

Are you a slave to the scales?

I am not a slave to the scale, however, when I go to the doctor's office they make me feel like I should be. How do you balance between the scale and the doctor when they still use this as a measurement of success?
  5. I forgot all about the licking days, that I would love to go back too. Relish the licking days

    AGGRAVATED

Let me clue you in on something. This was the worst time for me to begin the process of having surgery! I was taken through hoops and loops with the doctor's office, nurses and everyone involved because little did I know that people that are going through the surgery at their clinic that had to be approved and completed by the end of the year according to their medical insurance....TAKES PRECEDENCE over people that did not have this clause in their insurance. So instead of being told this upfront, I was made to feel like I was being given the run-around and almost left behind it. So here's my tips: Tip 1). Call your insurance and find out if they have this clause in their insurance. Tip 2). Ask your office (when they call you back) if other people need to have the surgery before the end of the year that takes precedence over you. Tip 3). Tell them that you are anxious and just want to know or set your expectations accordingly. Remember, the medical industry is a money making outfit, they are a business. So losing patients (no pun intended) is a BIG deal, and sometimes they are afraid to tell us that it may be longer than expected because they are 'afraid' of losing you as a client. Hope you find peace soon with this!
  7. Went to Lane Bryant and found some 'long' (6'0") skinny jeans. The size 16's were too tight around the waist line because of the blubber left behind, so I bought a size 18....WHY??? I am now wearing them today and the legs and butt area are so saggy/baggy. I know that I wear a size 16, but they don't zip around the blub - Hate it! Gonna take them back.

I'm a no spanx girl, too... my loose soft parts just have to hang out and be themselves. I have a friend who wears spanx every day and she looks like she's holding her breath and she looks SO uncomfortable! I'd rather when a guy puts his arm around my waist or his hands on my hips dancing that he feel something soft and real than to feel something that feels like plated armor

      Just saying...

  8. Slowly but surely getting colder by the day lately. Kinda' tough going to get to the gym, but I will fight my way through and resist wanting to climb into bed and get all snuggly ;)

  9. I think with age your nose is more inclined to get bigger. My nose looks more defined with the weight loss but the size seems to have gotten longer/bigger? However, I am in that aging range.
  10. I only drink a large Starbucks in the morning and no more for the remainder of the day. I buy the light roast coffee of the day ONLY during the cold weather months and in the summer, I purchase a large iced soy coffee latte with sugar free vanilla in the summer. I know that coffee can increase your appetite, but I just can't live a day without my fix. I also read that some doctors say that it can cause ulcers, but so can a stressful job where you have a greater chance of causing ulcers. I guess, if I start developing ulcers, I will stop, but until that time...

Bowls of Candy Are Appearing Everywhere!

How about, "this too shall pass." Candy will be here until the end of time so wait for your time. Or, I know what it taste like and there's nothing new, so I digress. That's what got me here in the first place.
  12. This week was the week from Hell. To the point that I went in on some carbs and carbs came out on several occasions... So I decided to work from home to keep my sanity and take a woo-Sah moment...

Everyone who has had issues with their weight will fight that until death. Just like other addictions. We will always have this close to the surface. There is not one of us that can say otherwise and be telling the truth....You know the difference and protected yourself from further damage. You are the bomb! Your doing great kid!!!!!!!

When you can't even be honest with yourself

Why is it such a problem with being private? I'm an introvert. I don't want or need everyone in my business! I like feeling comfortable sharing my personal decisions when I feel it appropriate to share. Not every question, or opportunity to share is the best time to share. Some people want to make a mockery out of your decision and others either don't care while other may need to know. Some people may not ever cross your path again when they ask. My point is, why share with people in passing or those that are co-workers only. My business is my business. I determine who I want to share my business with and who to keep at arms length. When I am ready to share my business, I wait for the right moment, time and motivation. The end!
  14. I don't lie, I just omit. I tell people that ask that I am eating less (truth) and I drink lots of Water (truth). I also tell them that I exercise about 2-3 times per week (truth) also. None of it is a lie. When I feel comfortable with someone or feel that I can trust someone, I tell them that I had the sleeve surgery. If they choose to tell others in the office, then it is shared by others on my behalf. I'm happy with the way I look and feel and don't care if they gossip about me behind my back about my choice.

How Not To Be Tricked by Halloween Treats

It's been Halloween in our office for over a month now and to hard to just walk by everyday. Sleeve patients don't have as big a problem as gastric patients do, so I have kept Protein bars around me instead. I also don't gain weight from candy for some reason. I gain from starch.
  16. Nope, interesting question however.

    Feet!

Nope, just feet getting slender. I have a few shoes that just float on my feet nowerdays. Not comfortable at all so I have started buying new shoes. I'm also taking some to shoe repair to see if they can tighten the slingbacks. Otherwise, new is the new me these days.
  18. I figured out how to get a $6 Whole Foods salad bar that's filling and yummy! Just take a dollop of stuff I want/can eat and voila'!!!

  20. Turns out that my sleeve LOVES the salad bar at Whole Foods! I just can't stomach the cost. So quick and easy to just drive over and load up on it!!!

I have a local grocery store that has a salad bar and I go there a few times a week to get a salad, and I don't make it so big so most days it costs me like 3-4 bucks to get a salad that fills me for lunch. I don't know how much it is at whole foods but 3-4 bucks seems reasonable to me?

My trick: stick with the baby shrimp for protein instead of the chicken. A little bit of shrimp satisfies me more than an equal amount (in ounces) of chicken..

  21. So true. Even out 6.5 months, I still throw up almost on a weekly basis. I still can't eat salmon, tilapia, trout or halibut and tomato sauce and Pasta does me in as well. I hope one day that I'll be able to eat fish again. And actually, my new revelation is that I can eat a good salad from Whole Foods with no problem. Now I just need to learn how to make a few on my own. Seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian since the surgery because I still like to eat and if I can get in a good quantity of salads, then I/and 'baby' (my pouch) are happy and satiated.

How did you settle on a goal?

Interesting question. I settled on a goal that I remember being at when I was in my early-to-mid twenties. Even then I was considered large for my height, that was over 30 years ago. It may actually not be realistic because my body is sticking and staying at a weight loss of 62 pounds, plus, I'm menopausal. I ask myself often if this is a good size at my age. I can't believe how it can't be, but I feel really good in my current skin. I want to get to my mental goal, but maybe, just maybe, that's unreasonable at my age and I should shoot for something more 'age' appropriate.
  23. I get on the scale and it never moves. It appears that my mind is playing tricks on me. Telling me that I look good where I am and shouldn't try any harder. Must break through this cycle...must break it!!!

Thanks everyone! My clothes are feeling looser so I know the inches are dropping, but I really feel that menopause is getting the best of me and that scale. I will jump on the scale, but I never like watching it in 'stuck' mode.

  24. I have heard this before but it is becoming more and more evident these days. My nose gets runny when I get full! I used to think it was some kind of allergic reaction from other sleevers, but now I know. Interesting~
