I liked that I had the option! Hopefully you make your goal for April/ May!!!!! The hardest part is waiting for insurance to approve it. I waited almost 2 months for an approval!!! But good luck to you and hopefully u don't have any insurance issues!

Hey everyone!!!!! I'm in Gwinnett county! I have not been sleeved yet, but I had a choice to do the 3 or 6 month diet. I chose the 3 month!!!! I finished that in September and didn't get approved til November 19th. But my date is scheduled for December 16th with Dr. Johnson from Atlanta Bariatrics.

$18,500 in Atlanta. I pay 10% and insurance pays the other 90%!

Thank you so much UberBuffaloGal!!!! They wanted to do it the day after my bday on the 13th. But I plan on celebrating so I took the next date! I have to do a 2 week pre-op diet, so as of 12/3 which is my daughters bday I'll be on full liquids. No cake for me, lol!!!!! Have you heard anything from Aetna yet UberBuffaloGal? What's your progress???

I was finally approved on 11/19 and the surgery scheduler called me tonight at 7:30. I will be sleeved on 12/16. Hopefully you will hear something soon!

My surgeons surgery scheduler called me at 7:30 tonight and we set my date. I'll be getting sleeved on December 16th! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!

Oh ok! My pre op liquid diet is 2 weeks. They want the liver nice and flexible so there won't be any damage to it during surgery!

What and exciting and nervous time! I'm wishing you all the luck and many prayers for a successful surgery! I just got approved on Tuesday and I'm anxious to get a date set! Anyway, can't wait to hear how your surgery went!!!

Do you have to do the pre-op liquid diet! I just found out I got approved for the surgery on the 19th. That's what I'm dreading! Straight liquids for 2 weeks!!! Ugh!

So I found out today that as of November 19th I have FINALLY been APPROVED FOR SURGERY!!!!!!! YAY!!!! I'm so excited that I almost screamed on the bus!!! I'll definitely be calling my surgeons office I'm the morning to let them know and have them call and get me scheduled before January 1st!

Wow! You may have to wait longer. Than two weeks. It takes 30 days some ppl get approved before then but if they request more info from the dr or NUT then the 30 days starts all over again every time they request more info. My paperwork has been submitted on 10/27 I still have no decision!!!

My BMI is in the 50's and I have co-morbidities.

Hey jayakay425, Just know that they have 30 days to make there decision and every time they request more info the 30 days starts all over again. I wish you all the luck!!! I'm still waiting on Aetna for almost 2 months now!

UberBuffaloGal you have to keep fighting. You have come too far to stop fighting and god forbid they deny you again, keep appealing til they get sick and tired of you and approve you. I work at a hospital and that's who my insurance is through I had a friend who had gastric bypass surgery last July and Aetna didn't give her any issues. She had no co-morbidities just a high BMI. And she was approved so quickly. My nutritionist told me that Aetna has gotten more strict lately. But I don't care how strict they are they listed guidelines and we have followed them and do what they have asked of us and now they're giving us a hard time!! They SUCK when it comes to Bariatric Surgery!!!

Hey UberBuffaloGal, No news yet!!!!! :-( The last time I spoke to someone from Aetna she was agreeing that it was more then 30 days and that was way too long!!!! So she told me to tell the insurance coordinator to call back and speak to a nurse because a decision should have been made already. I'm just so freaking over Aetna!!! I just can't believe that it's taking this long to hear anything from them. They love sending me all these emails about weight loss but when you try to do surgery to lose weight they want to give you a hard time. This is some serious BULLSH1T!!!!!!!

Hi UberBuffaloGal,I agree that's definitely way too long! My surgeons office did call to check with them and they will check with them again this week! I have called them. I try to wait about 2-3 days before calling to give them some time. From what I was told on 11/6 was they asked for something else on 10/2 and received it on 10/3. So I didn't call back until 11/4 but still it's pending! I will not give up! But they're getting on my nerves.

So I'm just so frustrated because Aetna still hasn't made a decision about my surgery! I have completed my 90 day diet and exercise with a Nutritionist and Personal trainer.My BMI is 54, I'm a pre-diabetic, hypertensive, I have joint pains due to my weight, I've done my Psych evaluation, I have been to group sessions and did all of my Pre-op labs. They've had all this info/paperwork since September 27th. Every time I call they say "It's still pending" I don't understand why it's still pending. Their requirements are a BMI of 40 or more and at least 1 co-morbidity and following a 3 or 6 month diet and exercise plan and I did that to a T!!!!!!! So why is it taking them forever to give me an approval???? It's frustrating and I'm highly annoyed with Aetna right now!!!!
