    The regain posts

I will say this... what worked FOR ME was staying very strict until I had changed my habits, my tastes and my gut bacteria. At that point I could aim for balance. But at that point I could have half a cookie or a few French fries without wanting the whole thing or bag. I also never felt deprived when I was strict. And I’m still pretty strict mostly because I don’t care so much... I really don’t care if I have bread or Pasta or whatever. So for me that IS balance. If I don’t care, why add it in? Balance means different things to different people. However I think it would have been a huge mistake (again, FOR ME) to attempt “balance” too early out. I needed to relearn and retrain n myself.
  2. Caffeine! And my doc never limited it. We could have coffee in the hospital if we wanted.

    Caffeine

Just like with most things all plans are different. My surgeon was fine with caffeinated coffee.

    Intermittent Fasting

Not my experience. I have a sleeve and I do IF here and there for various reasons. It’s not about not eating all day, it’s about limiting the window during which you eat. Say an 8 hour window and then fast the other 16. So if you delay your first “meal” till 10am and have your last meal at 6 you’re good. That’s what I do when I do IF. And it doesn’t make me any hungrier than any other time. I still stop when I’m full. A lot of vets do it for regain and it works quite well!

    Oooh banana pancakes

Lol! I was just imagining grout on pancakes! My husbands family has a story of grandma making “peanut butter” sandwiches with wood dough accidentally and that reminded me of that

    Partner’s weight

Aw poor guy! Would it help if you reminded him that as a guy who is taller, heavier and has more muscle mass he literally NEEDS more calories than you do?

    Fiber

Benefiber was part of my docs plan from day one. By a month out I was doing both soluble (benefiber) and insoluble (psyllium husk or Metamucil). But contact YOUR doctor and see what their plan entails. You trusted your surgeon to cut you open, best to trust your surgeons advice.
  9. And I can’t stand premiere either
  10. Quest protein powders esp the new cold brew coffee and the cinnamon crunch. Syntrax matrix peanut butter cookie

    When Does Skin Stop Shrinking?

About six months at goal. That’s why most plastic surgeons want your weight stable for that long before they do surgery.

    The regain posts

She hasn’t regained any, the original poster. She only just reached goal this past week and said goodbye and left the group.
  13. Can’t let those things in my house. They are my kryptonite.

    I cannot finish

What does your plan say? They are all different. Mine was OK per my plan at six weeks, but I couldn’t tolerate it without stomach upset for closer to a year.

    I cannot finish

I don’t even serve full ears anymore. Everyone gets a half!

Tips for getting your fluid in?

Ask your doc but most allow you to count protein shakes and drinks. Usually they don’t allow you to count caffeinated beverages like coffee. Try all kinds of drinks...iced herbal tea, water with sugar free flavor drops like mio, crystal light, sugar free electrolyte drinks or water enhancers like NUUN. Try all temperatures! Iced, cold, room temp, warm and hot. Add some lemon to your water. Experiment! I couldn’t drink tap water for a long time it felt too heavy but bottled water was fine. Go figure! Just keep trying different things till you find what works

    Partner’s weight

My husband has always been skinny—like really skinny—except when he was in college and had no car and biked everywhere and then he was really muscular. My kids take after him (thank goodness) and my fifteen year old is 6’3” and weighs maybe 165 soaking wet... and drops into the 150’s when he’s missed going to the gym for a few weeks.

    Food Before and After Photos

Homemade chicken no-noodle soup. I make it with lots of sautéed onions and mushrooms. Then I add in pasta noodles in my husband and son’s bowls and pour the soup on top and leave them out of mine.

    Best Sugar Substitues

Is honey on your plan? Honey is the same as actual sugar in most ways—calorically and glycemic index are very similar. It’s not really a sugar substitute in the way these are. Honey would not have been on my plan while I was losing weight and it isn’t on my plan in maintenance. I save my calories for things with nutritional value 90% of the time. Honey would be in the same treat category as sugar for me.
  20. Yes. 10000x yes. I have a few orthopedic issues that I had when I weighed close to 300lbs. Everyone told me they were weight related until I weighed 135. Then they found the actual issue. I had the problems for 15 years. They may certainly have been exacerbated by my weight, but they didn’t look any further than that for a cause for 15 years.

Taco on egg white “tortilla” yum! I ate the whole thing.

    Electrolytes

Weird! Our Walmart definitely has them. My son has been drinking G2 for years. I do the NUUN myself.

    Electrolytes

If you click on her name and look at her history that’s exactly her situation. Long term complications that haven’t responded to other treatment. As for G2, all our local groceries and Walmart and Target carry it, perhaps because we are in California? Another great only slightly sweet option is NUUN tablets you drop in water. Available at most athletic stores, Amazon and also our local Target.

Your Feet & Shoe Size ?

Can’t tell you why @summerset but mine did! I went from a 9.5 to an 8.5 Perhaps all the weight pushing down on them made them spread in width and length both? Not sure! I also lost at least half a inch in height. My doc said both are common. Maybe I lost weight from the bottoms of my feet?
