    Aetna Approved!

I had a hard time with the no drinking and eating at first. I got serious about it during the last 3 weeks before surgery. After surgery I'm sure the sleeve will force you to remember. Hang in there and congrats on your approval!!

    What Should I Do?

I was approved for surgery in August of this year but I just started a new position at work and didn't want to take off yet so I pushed it back and was recently sleeved. Is there away you can delay it until spring break to allow yourself time to recoup a little? I know you may not want to but unfortunately you do not know how your body will react to the procedure so you should allow yourself some time.
  3. It's an individual choice that each person has to decide on based on their own personal preferences. As for me I'm an open book. I had my surgery 2 days ago and announced it to FB yesterday. The response and support has been phenomenal and I have inbox messages and texts from people who are considering the surgery or already had it. However that is my story and my choice in approaching the matter. It's what works for me. You should do what is best for you and if that means remaining private than so be it.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

My surgery was yesterday. I'm feeling very sore and I had a lot of gas pain but that is getting better as I am now getting out of bed and walking. I slept a lot yesterday. I do remember feeling drunk and asking everyone did they get a good night sleep before surgery but that's about all I can remember. Hope everyone is doing well.

    Pre-Op Diet?!?!?

Just remember we haven't been good to our bodies and now that we are trying to do something about that it wants to revolt but we alone only have the power to control us. Stay positive and ask for help if you need it.

My Mom Just Worked My Nerves

Don't worry about it. I know it hurts but you did what was best for you not what was best for her. Your accomplishment isn't anything to take lightly. Congrats on your success this far! Celebrate it and don't let anyone make you feel that it is small. Maybe you can sit her down at some point later, not today and let her know she makes you feel when she does this. She may listen, she may not but at least you will have released it. You do have support right here on this site and I'm sure you have loved ones who are rooting for you as well. Lean on them in the rough times. I wish you the best in your journey.

    Pre-Op Diet?!?!?

It is very hard but use this time to work on discipline. It will be the same discipline needed to keep the weight off. Remember this isn't a quick fix it's a change of lifestyle for us. Find healthy "cheats" if you need to just have something extra. Mine is sugar free jello or pudding. I'm not on full liquids but I'm on a 1000 calorie diet for since last Friday. My surgery is Wednesday. I do two protein shakes and a small meal but prior to the start of the pre-op diet I put myself on a modification so that the change wouldn't be a complete shock. I started with one protein shake a light lunch then dinner. I think that has helped me prepare for this. I wish you the best with your preparation and just keep the bigger picture in mind. You can do this!! Good luck =)

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I got my time today also. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am on the 4th. Wow that's early but I probably won't be able to sleep anyway. Good luck to all of us who have surgery the first week of December!!
  15. I'm glad you admitted your shortcomings and now you can get back on the wagon. I'm on my 4th day of my pre-op diet but I have a 1000 calorie diet as opposed to liquids only. I have been following the plan although tonight I had about 1100 calories. Keep pushing thru and think about your goal. Maybe try going for a walk when you start to think about food. Another key to losing weight is getting the proper amount of sleep. I lose slower or not at all when I don't get enough rest to allow my body to burn calories. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

    Adoption

Congrats on your adoption!! I adopted two boys when they were 1 & 2. They're now 12 & 13 and it was the best decision I've ever made. They have brought so much joy and fulfillment to my life. I wish you the best with your new daughter.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I just got back from my NUT and pre admission appt. I start my pre op diet tomorrow. My surgeon does a 1000 calorie diet as opposed to just liquids. He actually said I can eat on thanksgiving if I want but don't over do it however I am determined to eat within the plan. The countdown is officially on for Dec 4.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Yay we have the same surgery date!! I see nutritionist and have my pre admission stuff done on Thursday then on to the liquid diet. I have been drinking a protein shake for breakfast and then a light lunch and dinner for the last 2 weeks to try get prepared. It will be a little tough at first but I'm looking forward to it because that puts me one step closer to the big day.
  20. I am exactly 3 weeks away from my surgery and I've been open about having the surgery with my family, friends and co-workers. As the days grow closer I having been getting asked "Are you nervous?". My answer has been "no but that could change". Right now I am filled with anticipation and excitement to begin a whole new healthier chapter of my life. I am looking forward to being able to do things that I couldn't do because of my weight. I think that has been my focus thru this whole process. I'm sure my nerves will kick in a little as my surgery date gets closer but I hope to maintain my excitement.

    Are You Nervous?

Well if I'm not mistaken gastric bypass was the preferred surgery by most insurance companies until a few years ago. You see it more now because people can get it covered. You probably don't see anyone over 5 years too often because it hasn't been around long and it's only recently become a preferred method of WLS.

    Are You Nervous?

I hope I feel those same feelings on my big day. I have had surgery (gallbladder) before so I think that may contribute to me not being nervous. Congrats on your surgery!!! I'm glad to hear your doing well and I wish you much success!!!
