    I have PCOS...

Hi I have PCOS as well, My highest weight was 253. My surgery was 11/18/2013 and I was 238. currently, I'm 179.7 It has been slow but likewise, steady. I started losing like 5-7 pounds a month, now is like 2-3.5 a month and I had a couple stalls as well. Before surgery, I had the worst pms ever, It lasted like 10 days then I would get my period and in less then two weeks I would start pmsing again, so my doctor had me on birth control and metformin. I hated both, so I stopped taking them when I had the lap band surgery. Currently, I no longer have those extended pms symptoms, my period at first was regulated like once every 28 days, but recently started acting up again, twice a month, every 19-23 days so my Doctor just put me on Provera. At the end of the day, I love my band, believe it or not, as much as we want to loss weight really fast, we are better off losing the weight little by little, it allows the body to adjust and to keep the weigh off longer.

    Is this normal?

I was banded a year ago and from time to time I expirienced similar pain along with left shoulder pain but not to the point that i'm not able to sleep. I went to my surgeon and they did an upper GI and they noticed that the port tubing is really close to my left diaphragm, so specially when I over eat and I take deep breath I can feel the pain, I was told I can get another surgery to readjust the tube positioning or I can live with it. I personally don't want to go back for another surgery. So I have been watching how much I eat, so I don't get that pain. Let me know what your surgeon tells you.

    November 2013 Bandsters Check In

    Happy Bandiversary to us!!
  4. Today, a year ago I made the decision to get my life back. 365 days ago, I had the Lap Band Surgery. Looking back to November 18, 2013. I was anxious, excited and at the same time scared. Not knowing what to expect. But I came to realize, that you have to take it day by day, it's not an overnight fix, it requires a lot of work of my part to make this tool work, just because I had a WLS doesn't mean that my weigh will come off that easy. I had my ups and downs, but I don't regret at all having this surgery. I still have a way to go, but the good thing is that I'm not near my starting point, I'm moving forward towards my goal. Even though I don't know when I will get there, I know that it will take place if I continue to work hard at it. I CAN'T & I WON'T STOP!!!! Can't wait to see what's in store for me in the next 365 days!!! Let the journey continue...
  5. I weigh myself everyday, but I only count it as an "official" weigh-in once a month.
  6. Congratulation!! Happy Anniversary...You look great!!

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Hello November 2013 Bandsters!!! I can't believe it's almost a year since I made the decision to get banded. My exact bandanniversary will be the 18th of this month. I'm so happy of the decision I made a year ago, I feel much better and I look much better too!! I had my ups and downs, stalls in between but a lot was self induced, I enjoyed my summer and then it was hard to get back on track, specially when you and others can see the changes, therefore you can start thinking that you look good enough. But I know I have a way to go, 35 pounds to be exact. I don't know when I will get there but I know it will take place. In the mean time I want to commit to small goals, which includes to stay consistent when it comes to excercise and I would love to be at least 179.9 on the 18th . So let's see what happen! I would love to hear from the rest of you, how are you guys doing after the surgery.

@@Bandista Yes, similar stats...Too funny! my exact goal for my one year band anniversary is to be ten pounds lighter, even if its 179.9. I take that! but if I don't reach that goal I'll be ok because I know I'll get there sooner or later. Now like you said, summer is over, so time to get back on track!!
  13. Congratulations...You look awesome!! It's just wonderful to read how a year with this tool can really change things, not only the way we physically look but specially our inner person, the way we view life and the way we project ourselves!! Keep up the good work!!

    November 2013 bandsters

I was also banded November 2013; likewise you can see my progress through my ticker. I took a little break for the summer, which doesn't mean that I was eating anything and everything but I did try to enjoy it with family and friends and for the first time was not about the food it was more about me enjoying life and building better friendship and getting closer to family. I still have a way to go but I'm happy with the decision I made and I'm looking forward to a better and healthier life.
