Anyone have a mini Gastric Bypass performed in the US?
I have, california.
-
Did you consult your doc? Any advise from them? And I guess you must have had a enough lost during your band period !!!! I guess MGB is slow but effective. And I truly believe now that my body is on stall. Means need to change a diet and my routine. Good luck to you.
Yes went yesterday. He said not to worry that loss if much slower after a revision, to just give it time. And that I also have my height, weight and age and slow metabolism to take in consideration. He said to be patient and just keep doing what I'm doing.

How is your journey with the mgb going?
-
Just a word of advise, I had the Lapband because it was "reversable"...what I didn't take into consideration was that id still have to go under the knife to have it removed. Much happier now that it's removed and I have the rny. I am down 50lbs in 3 months

Can you share your numbers with me. Age, height and weightloss numbers.
Thank you

I had band revision to mgb at the beginning of April, only lost about 21lbs so far and haven't lost any more
I expected better weightloss than the band, but it seems to be going super slow, and it has stopped -
I had a band revision to mgb at the beiggining of April, lost only about 21 lbs and haven't lost any more

So I had my band out and had mgb in beginning of April and only lost about 21lbs. Feeling kinda bummed here
Are revisions this slow? Anyone else have a revision to mgb? How has the weigholoss been for you? -
Hello
Yes I had 4 balloon dilation. They do it while having a endoscopy and they put you out under sedation. I had it done due to having narrowing and I was vomiting a lot. It helped temporarily. Most of the time it takes more than once to be effective. There is no pain. Why r you having it done?
How did they sedate you? Through Iv?
-
Anyone had Endoscopic balloon dilation??
Can you share your experience?
How did they sedate you?
Why did you need one done?
How did you feel afterwards?
-
I had he sleeve done 12/14. Since 18 mo the post op I have terrible heartburn and it gets so bad sometimes I vomit and it does t go away for over an hour. Even with prescription meds given for this reason.
I never had this before the sleeve. Would that be a reason to have the MGB? I'm so lost. My dr just keeps putting me o. Things . Carafate, 20mg Prilosec, liquid Zantac all hat wonderful stuff
I have read of people who have done the mini gastric bypass because of reflux with their sleeve.
There are 2 groups of fb for people with mini gastric bypass and they could answer your question better there. Join the groups.
I had a band and I just did revision no MGB.

Can rny be revised to mini gastric bypass?

Has anyone used Dr Helmuth Billy for the MGB?
Who was your surgeon?
How are you doing on your journey?
Any complications?
How Far Along Are you?
-
Who has had the MGB the longest?
Any complications?

Msg you
Hopefully insurance will cover it. My doctor seems to think so, but I haven't gone through the process. If insurance doesn't cover it, I'm not having it. That is a cost/debt I won't take on at this point. Will you be self pay? Or insurance is going to cover you?

Will you be self pay? Or insurance is going to cover you?I'm in SoCal and actually discussed a band/plication revision to a bypass with my surgeon today. My doctor is Helmuth Billy in Ventura. He is great! I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but after close to 4 years, I'm having horrible reflux issues and I've gained back close to 30 of the 70 pounds I lost.
I don't know what he charges for self pay, but I can tell you that he's a great surgeon. Here is the link to his website http://www.drbillybariatrics.com
Good luck!

Ooh my, I'm so sorry you are going through this
I've had mine for almost 10 yrs. Never had any complications, till some regurgitation a few months ago. I only got it if I ate anything after 7pm. Got all the liquid out and slowly adding it but in that process I've gained 15lbs. I can't even loose what I gained and have no issues now but want to do a revision :/
-
How long have you had it?I have the band and do not want it. I am trying to get the sleeve. I think it will be a matter of time before the band will be removed from market due to the amount of issues. My band truly failed me. I have no slippage or dilated pouch. I have had nothing but issues with my band since the get go. Never found the sweet spot and more time than not, cannot keep regular food down. I am done with this thing!
-
Yes researching him. So I'm trying to hear from people who have used him.
I assumed you were considering using him for a revision. In which case that is the first question I'd ask him. You want to hear hundreds (or more) ideally.
Idk, I was asking if anyone had a band revision to another surgery with him.How many revisions has he done?

Anyone had a band revision with Dr Ariel Ortiz???

And where is he returning to?
No, only those two docs are doing the mgb in usa now, but i have heard a rumor that dr. Rutledge may be returning.
Is there and updated list of USA docs for this surgery? This surgery has a few different names: MGB (mini gastric bypass), OAGB (one anastomosis gastric bypass) and the Omega Loop.
I thought it might be useful to write down the names of the surgeons that do this operation both in the USA and abroad. A comprehensive list in one place will make my life much easier. Please, feel free to comment if you know of other doctors, and I will add it to this list, ok?
