    My Friday Routine- I'm scared

If you are still eating those foods a week before surgery it sounds to me like you might not be ready for this surgery yet. I know that sounds harsh but this surgery is a huge change and those foods will make you so sick if you eat them afterwards. There is dumping syndrome, a chance of stretching your stomach out again. Apparenty your husband doesn't take this seriously to help you. If he did he wouldn't buy you foods you shouldn't eat. I suggest talking to someone like a therapist or surgeon about you're fears and concerns. Whatever you decide to do good luck and best wishes.

    Post-op food nightmares..

I dream that I'm in bakeries buying sweets to gorge on. Now that is a nightmare for sure. Sugary things for gastric bypass people can make them sick and can give them dumping affect so no thank you to that. Let these activities stay in my dreams where they do no harm.

    Chicago Recommendation?

I have heard of Dr. Steven Bloch in Highland Park, IL that has 36 yrs of experience in plastic surgery. He is rated very highly in reviews that I have read and has been given three out of four stars. I have not personally used him but have heard about him. Just a suggestion if you want to check him out.

    Gwynnie bee anyone?

What a great way to have clothes to wear while you are loosing your weight without constantly buying new clothes. I like this idea very much especially for people that work and have to go to special functions. I wonder if I could donate old hardly used clothes to them. Must check into that.
  5. Hi, Well I know that in my medical group that did my gastric bypass surgery they are getting away from doing the lap band surgery. The reason is it is the least sucsessful of the three surgeries and alot of people later have to have it revised to a different surgery like to the gastric bypass due to complication or the lack of the success of it working. With gastric bypass I was up walking around from day one and everyday after. The pain truthfully I've had worse with smaller surgeries. You can't lift anything over 10 LBS for the first month after that it's up to your doctor to decide. I know some people that went back to work after a week of surgery which is real fast. Most people go back after two weeks but your self employed so this is a different thing and I don't know what you do so for you this is could be much sooner. I would say study both surgeries as much as you can and go to bariatric meetings to ask questions of people that have had these surgeries and how they feel about them. I'm not an expert I'm just going by what I've heard from going to the bariatric meetings in my area, I've heard from the surgeons in the group, and read. Good luck in your decsion of whatever surgery you do and make it your choice that you feel is right for you.

    Protein bars

My nutritionist recommends Pure Protein Bars as a good source of nutrition. They come in a lot of flavors and are low in sugar and high in protein. I enjoy them usually every day.
  7. I now fit into a size 14 pants and I am 5 months out. I'm thrilled.

    Soups and protein

I would check with your nutritionist of what protein they want you to purchase and where they suggest you purchase it at. I've been told to use Whey Isolate but your nutritionist may want you to use something different so they would be the best person to talk to about this and the wisest person to make sure you are getting the proper nutrition at this stage. Good luck!

    Soups and protein

Make sure that it is whey isolate at least that is what I was told. I would ask your nutritionist what they recommends for you to get and maybe where you should purchase it. They would have the best answer for you.

    Soups and protein

Hi if you use cream soups they must be 98% fat free and then blended in the blender and strained before consuming. I have used unjury chicken Soup powder when I was on that part of the program and it has 20g of Protein in it and you must follow directions on how to make it or it comes out weird. For Protein shakes I use Rob Roy Protein Powder that has 25g of protein in each scoop and with a cup of skim milk it makes it 33g of protein in each shake. I use the chocolate or vanilla and add extract flavors to give different flavors to it if I want a change. If you drink Crystal Light in your Water you can always add a spoonful of unflavored protein to that and that helps get your protein in for the day too.
  11. I'm four months out and I've lost 41 lbs and can get into size 16w jeans. I'm very happy.

  12. Since surgery have had nothing but loose bowels and nothing I do or eat helps. Does any one have any suggestions of what they have done to over come this problem if they have had it. Do you still have the problem and how do you deal with it? Please give me some insight.
  13. Someone I know suggested something to me and I'm going to try it. It's fresh Probiotics that you take every morning and you must keep it refrigerated. I'm hoping this works for me. Once again thank you for your suggestions.

    Day 4 Post Op

unjury chicken broth has 21g of Protein in one serving. This is one way of getting your protein in.
  15. Thank you all for your replies so far. I have been touch with my surgeons office and my nutritionist and they have no idea what to do for me at this point. They have tried a couple over the counter things but nothing has worked. They have not tried any prescription meds at all to stop this and has not even suggested it. I eat dairy and have no indication that it's bothering me by gas or cramping so I don't think it's that. I do eat low fat diet now so I would say I'm not dumping either. Once again thank you for your suggestions

    Going to the Movies

My nutritionist told me that occasionally that instead of a shake I could have a Pure Protein Bar. You can purchase them at grocery stores, pharmacies and places like Walmart or Target. Maybe that might satisfy your chocolate craving with something that has the proper nutrition.
  17. Could someone tell me how to post on recent topics, please.

  18. Tylenol is the correct over the counter med to take for pain. I don't think it matters what form you use.

    Clif Bar?

Hi, Please read the label before you eat the Clif Bar for what's in there. You find a lot of stuff you don't want that could possibly make you sick like the chocolate and the sugar. If you want to try a protein bar I suggest Quest Bars which are made with Stevia and most likely will not make you sick because Stevia is not sugar. Now I've been told by my Surgeon and Nutritionist not to eat protein bars but it's up to you what to do for yourself. I'm just giving you a suggestion of a bar that probably won't make you sick like most protein bars would because of the sugar content.

    Acid Reflux

I take Protonix for Gerds which has been better since surgery. I will be stopping it probably in about a month for good if all goes well.

    September Surgeries..

Hi, I had my surgery September 25 and am on soft foods and am doing fine with it. I am feeling 99% of the time fine but every so often I get a little quesy from eating or pain if I eat to fast or take to big of a bit. For me losing the weight is slow but at least I'm losing continuously so that's good.
  22. I got into a size 20W pair of jeans today and I'm very pleased.

  23. I had my surgery on the 25th and I'm doing fine. I still get tired easy but that shall pass as time goes further along. I can't wait to start on soft foods later this week because I'm tired of puree foods (baby food) blah. LOL
