what foods YOU cannot eat anymore?
WildGrits replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I cannot eat Tuna or Peanut Butter anymore. PB rocks my belly and I can't even swallow tuna. I love them both and miss them. -
Well I can definitely see a difference. I feel like that sometimes too. But I am defiantly losing more than I would without the surgery, and I am losing so I have to learn to be patient.

There are some great private groups on FaceBook if you are interested. I can send you an invite if you like?

It's not hard to get 60 grams a day if you eat each meal and snack. I'm not going to lie. I don't always get all my Protein but getting all my fluids is a bigger problem for me. A sample of my menu is as follows: Breakfast: 4 oz low fat cottage cheese-------13 grams of protein 1 Dole pineapple fruit cup Snack 8oz skim milk-------8 grams of protein lunch Kashi pizza 1/3---------15 grams of protein Snack Strawberries dinner 6oz Talapia--------32 grams of protein---no way I can finish it 1/4 C Kashi Pilaf----7 grams any mushy veggie Dessert something chocolate like fudgesicle or pudding Other option I like are Kashi frozen dinners, shrimp, flatout bread with cream cheese or refried Beans

I'm waiting on my surgery date...
WildGrits replied to tigerlily14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck to you. The waiting was far worse than anything since the surgery. -
Anyone else stop losing when they exercise?
WildGrits replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must admit I have been quite lazy about my exercise. One thing EVERYONE told me to do before my surgery that I didn't listen to was make sure I did all my measurements so that when I have a stall or slow down in my loss, I can measure and see that even though I'm not losing weight, I am losing inches. Have you noticed that your actually more tone on the weeks your loss is lower? -
Unexpected Gas and mild cramping
WildGrits replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have any SF Popsicles? I have hard a heck of a time with meat lately. SF Popsicles have been a God Send for me. They really help calm my belly. -
I agree with the fat cells theory. Those first two months were hard. The theory says that your fats cells store fluids, excess hormones and toxins. As they shrink they give off a lot of what they are storing causing a flood of crap your system isn't use to. Attempt to combat it with keeping yourself hydrated and remember, you are physically going through a HUGE change. Be patient with yourself. And sometimes a good cry can be very cathartic.

If you are taking a multi-Vitamin with Iron I think you are getting your share of iron. If you aren't taking an iron pill I would suggest waiting till your first blood work to see if you are in need of it. I am three months out and take no Vitamins. I have no hair loss and I have rocked my blood work. My diet consists of mostly dairy, fruits, and veggies. meats have not been good to me since the surgery so I don't eat too much except in the form of Soups. Oh, and Kashi Pilaf for the added Fiber.

I found when I was still healing my food had to be really wet. Maybe some gravy might help it go down better. Since my surgery I have found that foods I loved in the past, Tuna and chicken, just don't agree with me anymore. If your looking for something non-sweet how bout refried Beans?

SF Popsicles, Tropical flavor, SF Pudding and Fudgesicles are my savior.

Protein while traveling & Disney Dining
WildGrits replied to Sleeveless in seattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For packing in your day bag, Quest Bars are great. I can only eat half of one at a time. For planning your food while in WDW http://allears.net/dining/menu/ is my go to site. -
Drinking water and throwing up
WildGrits replied to fatinthehead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have the same problem. Plain water is like broken drinking glass to me. SF powdered drink mix is a life saver. -
Snacking or as I like to call "grazing"...
WildGrits replied to Marathongirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I do find that it is a weekly thing for me. Some weeks I can't choke anything down. Others I find I am hungry every three hours like clock work. I have no idea nor have I found that it makes any difference on my scale. I just try to be smart about my choices. -
After surgery question about eating
WildGrits replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The first month after surgery your main concern is gwetting your fluids and your protiens. It will be all consuming but you won't heal if you don't do it. Eating twice a day is not a successful way to eat, as you must have learned by now. You will need to relearn your relationship with food in order to be successful. Maybe you will find the help you need with your local Support Gruop? -
I agree with Trever. Once you are home from the hospital, your body with tell you if you drank too fast. But don't worry, it's not a long pain. It's more like a reminder to slow down.

Pouch pain is your own fault- interesting talk with my PA
WildGrits replied to Amyllf2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I can agree with the idea that "ALL" pain is the fault of the pouch owner. I have aquired many food intolerances just recently. In the beginning I couldn't keep chicken or turkey down, now almost all meats upset my pouch. I wouldn't say that's my fault. As for hunger? Some weeks I'm never hungry and others I am eating every three hours. I think once you find a system that works for you, stick to it. I definately think what is the hardest thing since my surgery is getting my fluids. I have to make a conscience effort to get my fluids in. -
Don't feel too bad. I ended up rescheduling my appointment. I would suggest you reschedule also. It's going to be pointless to see him if you haven't completed your goal. He isn't going to give you any good pointers.

I had two episodes of dumping two years before surgery. Both times were from eating something high in corn syrup and nothing else for too long (one was Dum Dums). Since surgery I have been religious about reading labels so I figured I wouldn't have a problem WRONG!!!!! I mixed Kashi Go with a Dannon Lite & Fit. WHOLLY CRAP!!! That was a terrible experience. Never again. Live and learn I guess.

Well I'm seven weeks out now. I have my energy back but not mch more than I had before the surgery. I is nice to not always feel hungry but also not to feel deprived at the same time. My headaches are gone that I use to have weekly before. I snore much less now and I went from a size 24 to a size 16 JMS jeans. I am quite happy about that. Sadly I looks like I did lose the girls so good thing for the Mommy Makeover I plan on having in a year or so.

Hey all!!! I haven't checked into BP since my surgery week in February. I would have to say I have come across two issues since the surgery. 1. I have become just terrible at getting my fluids in. Pre-surgery I was a diet soda/coffee drinker. On the plus side all my headaches are gone. 2. I have no found the optimal calorie intake for weight loss. I can go days with 600 calories and no loss but then one day have two pounds off with no rhyme or reason. Can anyone suggest a good NUT? I am not going back to Lamanski. What Support groups is everyone attending? It's been great hearing everyone's success.

Agree. But Dr Oz is just another Oprah star pandering to what ever will get his crowd to make infomercial gasps and such. He is a tool.

One week post OP here in Albany. I bought about $60 worth of whey products. Ready To Drink shakes. I cannot drink them. Is anyone out there interested in these products? Four have been opened but never drank out of, I poured into cups. Three unopened ISOpures. I don't want anything for them. I just want them to get used.,

everything hurts my tummy
WildGrits replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't know about your other problems but I can atest to the Gall Bladder. You won't believe how that lil bugger can make everything feel real crappy. The worst part is rapid weight loss makes it worse. For years I always thought I had a stomach bug. I was on a diet that i lost 55 pounds in three months and after that it never stopped hurting all over my abdomen. Once they took it out I was amazed how everything was the fault of my gall bladder. Good luck.
