    I wanted to share with my rny family that I have finally hit 198.6 today something I thought I would never see. I remember this time last year being at my highest weight of 280 and knowing that I had to do something. And now here I am under 200lbs finally!!! To everyone thinking about having this surgery, to every doubters or to anyone having second thoughts, know I felt the same way when I started and now here I am telling you DO IT. Get healthy, lose weight and be happy!!
    Thanks for listening

    Today, November 1st is the one year anniversary of my bypass surgery. I feel extremely blessed to have been even approved. I'm so thankful for my difficult journey and even when I feel discouraged or fall off the rules bus... I remind myself of this opportunity God gave to me and how I must learn to take full advantage of the tools I've been given. It's only by the grace of God that I have lost the weight and remained complication free. Praise you Father!! .. And thank you! I will succeed on this journey!
    Pre- surgery weight: 247

    I came across these words last night and thought I need to write this on several post-it notes and place one on my computer at work, one on the dash of my car, one on the refrigerator and one on my bathroom mirror so whenever I'm trying to justifying not exercising, I can focus more on the benefits and less on developing a convincing sounding justification for what is likely laziness rather than reason. "Exercise is a natural antidepressant and is good for your heart. It is a stress reducer, decreases anger and hostility, and gives you a sense of control over your life. It may be one of the greatest things you can do for yourself, but it takes work" by Cynthia L. Alexander, PsyD.

    Well tomorrow I hopefully can cross off a major goal off my list. I am trying out for the police academy. Tomorrow morning is my physical fitness portion and I have worked hard to get ready. However there is still the fat girl doubting that I am dealing with.
    I could use positive thoughts and prayers tomorrow morning!

    Shannon Mcmanus reacted to DLCoggin in Obsessing with the scale!
    Crazy? No. Obsessing? Perhaps a little. Your journey can be an emotional roller coaster ride. Full of self-doubt, frustration, second guessing, fear, even depression. But it does not have to be that way.
    There is no schedule for stalls. No "too early" or "too late" or "too many" or "too few" or "too long" or "too short" or, or, or... You've probably heard it already and you'll hear it again - everyone is different. There are simply too many variables.
    So you need a plan. I'm sure others will weigh in with what has worked for them. Here's what worked, and continues to work, for me:
    * Stay positive.
    * Stay patient.
    * Stay focused on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can.
    * Maintain a food log.
    There will be lots of variables. Sometimes you're going to lose weight quickly. Sometimes slowly. And sometimes not at all. But no matter what your weight is doing, your plan is ALWAYS the same. When you lose fast - follow your plan. When you lose slow - follow your plan. When you're not losing at all - follow your plan.
    Trust the process. With more than 30 years of research and clinical studies behind it, there is no doubt that RNY works. Follow your plan and the weight will take care of itself.
    Regardless of what you do, your body is going to find its own way in its own time. So you have a choice. Panic, stress, frustration and worry every time something changes. Or focus, commitment, confidence and absolute belief that your plan will take you where you want to go. Your goal is physical change. Your challenge is mental discipline.
    Follow your plan and you're gonna love the new you!!

    Hi guys. I had my op on Thursday night. They took my band out and gave me a bypass. Nowhere near as much pain as I'd been expecting - yet. All went well with the surgery so just praying for no post-op complications. Should go home later this morning. Feeling good and happy. Good luck to you you soon-to-be-bypassers :-) xx

    FoR two days now, no dumping yeah for me! Anything with more than a gram of sugar makes me sick to the point of dumping. So when I went grocery shopping I spent two hours looking at every single label. I bought egg whites and turkey sausage. Two tablespoons of egg whites and one Jimmy Dean turkey sausage, microwave it for 45 seconds and you have a yummy Breakfast. lunch was weight watchers taco Soup and dinner was a meatball with sugar free artichoke Tomato sauce. I made the meatballs prior to surgery and have them in the freezer. I guess I am a slow learner it has taken me five weeks to read all the labels prior to consuming anything!
