  1. Went to the surgeons office today to get some supplies for my b12 shot. Figured while I was there I should weigh in! Happy I did!! 135lbs with clothes on and a 25 bmi!!! So excited!!
  2. The one I found was Isopure unflavored. To me that was the best one. Although they do still have a slight taste to it. If you add a little crystal light you can't taste it. I flavored mine with pink lemonade. I also used it to make Popsicles out of the unflavored and crystal light. Another one that was ok was the syntrax brand of unflavored.

    Useful pre-op things?

It's great to start picking up smaller sizes because you will one day be in them. Also I buy at goodwill when the clothes are 50% off whatever color tag. I've saved a ton of money that way and have lots of clothes to choose from.

    Useful pre-op things?

After surgery I used Isopure unflavored protein powder to mix in drinks or with water and crystal light. I also made my own protein Popsicles out of the isopure and crystal light. The only protein drink I could stand and still drink to this day is Premier Protein in chocolate flavor that you can find pre made at Costco and SAMs Club.

    Useful pre-op things?

I used the scale I already had which is a Tanita. It's pretty close to the numbers I get at the doctors office. Heating pad is a lifesaver to help relieve gas and shoulder pain, a good variety of soups to choose from, a food scale ( I like the biggest loser one from walmart), and a good unflavored protein powder to mix in anything. Other than that I think I didn't need anything else. I bought a lot of things for post op like different protein shakes I never used because they smelled too sweet, I bought the sugar free syrup flavors, speciality bariatric soups...didn't use any of them! Best of luck with your surgery.

    I Have A Leak And I'm Scared.

I agree with anabanana. I did end up with an abcess. You just have to listen to yourself and your body when it is telling you that something is not right. You will know when something is wrong. Thicvik I am so sorry that you have lost someone to thus surgery. I cannot begin to imagine what that feels like. You just need to do what you feel is right.
  7. some people suggest adding them to sugar free chocolate syrup or applesauce. Also some add them into protein drinks.

    HELP! Holiday mental hunger attack!

I second Laura. I had to walk away quite a bit in the beginning when my family was cooking or eating. It does get easier, but it just takes time. Hang in there!
  9. I just want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! Merry Christmas to you and your families!
  10. Good luck on your surgery day! That's my birthday so it's obviously a lucky day!
  11. I had an accordion drain in for about 6 weeks and it felt a little the same coming out. Towards the end of having it in I had more pain from the site healing around it than the drain itself. As nervous as I was once they clipped the stitches holding it I didn't feel any pain after... Just relief! best of luck on your recovery.

    December post ops

I know you are newly post op, but you might want to try drinking just a bit slower so you don't swallow any air. I remember I had to be extra careful with that in the beginning. Just concentrate when you drink so not to allow that air in. 9 months later I still get air in sometimes when I swallow and boy do I feel it! Good luck with your recovery.
  14. I'm glad to see you are back! Have a great holiday season!
  15. I like Premier Protein from Costco or SAMs club. My favorite is the chocolate. They are per made and have 30 grams protein. I like to stick it in the freezer so it's slushy. It's also great warmed up in the microwave then it tastes just like hot chocolate.

Not a happy, cheary post, be warned

That last part you wrote about napping is so touching.

Not a happy, cheary post, be warned

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. Four years ago on December 4th I lost my only brother at the young age of 40. That year I (and my mom) lost our holiday cheer. We didn't want to do a tree, wrap gifts, have a holiday dinner, or any of the other family type things one would do for Christmas or New Year's Eve. So I do understand that part. You have to do what you feel is right for you. Forcing yourself into doing those things does not help the grief process. Your family I am sure understands how you are feeling and will stay strong by your side supporting whatever you decide to do. Everyone grieves in their own way and on their own path. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. May your memories comfort you in this time of grief.

    Not losing lbs

At our local goodwill they have 50% off a certain color tag each week that the clothes are marked with. I am glad I bought lots of sizes ahead of time while they were 50% off! Most of them are to big now, but they sure helped while I was loosing.

    Post op 12/16/13

I can drink normal now. Every once in awhile I feel like I get air in with the water which doesn't feel good. Sometimes makes the water come back up. For the most part though I'm good with drinking, sipping, gulping ( just not as fast as before). Hot water, cold water, icy water, anything now. I never thought I would see this day again, but it happens!
  23. I love celebrate multivitamins too! They were the only ones that didn't taste chalky to me.

    Post op 12/16/13

I'm nine months post op. I remember I had such a hard time. I used to love drinking ice cold water. Then after surgery that hit me like a ton of bricks! Had to try room temp, warm in tea, anything and everything!
