    Status Update For Vermonters

Hi everyone, Just thought I'd drop in and say a quick hello. I'm a Canadian girl who just got banded about 3 weeks ago here in Toronto. However I lived in Vermont from about 18 months two years ago, and am planning on moving back (to Stowe) this summer. I look forward to getting to know all of you and hopefully joining you in some support groups. Best, Angie

    Twenties NSVs

Everyone is doing so wicked - Jane I can relate -at the end of the day yesterday my jeans were literally falling off... My roommate was in hysterics, as I was trying to clean. My first big NSV was getting ready at my parents house to go out for st. patty's on Tuesday my mom suggested a pair of boots I bought online years ago but never did up over my calves... And they did! Yeah I had to sort of slouch them a bit to get the zipper all the way done, but I got them there! Over jeans no less! Felt great.
  4. I went into surgery around 9:30 and was on my way home by 12:40. I'm young, came out of the anesthetic no problem, was able to drink water... They sent me on my way. I did crash as soon as I got home, but I was happy to be in my own bed.

Treat for yourself?? Other than FOOD!

I am not sure yet, as my first reward is a big one - a trip to Miami thanks to my wonderful parents. After that, I'm planning on celebrating every 10 pounds with a charm for my charm bracelet.
  7. Congrats! You're doing great, and I have no doubt you'll reach that next goal!!

    March 4th... and an intro!

Hey March 4th buddies! Less than 48 hours till we're banded... How wild is that! I've had a rollercoaster of emotions with my pre-op diet and blood work, but it looks like almost everything is resolved and I'm good to go... Just can't wait to get started! xox, luck and love to all.

How did you answer friends' questions?

Just thought I'd jump in here. I'm not banded yet -surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday, though I'm terrified something could change because I keep getting messed up blood work and having to go back to the Dr's... But anyways. At first I was like I am not going to tell a soul. Like just mom and dad, that's it. But then I told my roommate. Figured I had to, we live together after all. Then decided to tell one of my best friends who live across the country. Then kept telling - not a ton of people, but the friends who would notice that I wasn't eating (on pre-op) and the ones who I know would support me. I also told my sister-in-law and my brother, because I think it's important to have a support in my family other than my parents, who drive me kinda crazy. All in all, 11 people know now... probably 12 actually cause I think the roommate told her boyfriend, which doesn't exactly delight me, but what can ya do. The good thing I've found about telling people is it really reinforces why I'm doing it - when I explain what the band is and what it does, I remind myself of how excited I am to be on this journey. When people ask what the struggles are, I am reminded it is a tool and not a solution. Anyways, it's now only T minus 3.5 days... Hopefully. xoxox angie

Toronto, Canada... and Stowe, Vt. Currently Toronto though.
  13. Really scared I might have to postpone surgery - keep getting weird blood work results.

Katie you look amaaaazing. I am getting banded in 5 days and cannot fathom that in a year and a few months, I could be anywhere CLOSE to where you are... You're totally inspirational, girl!
  15. Hey, just wanted to update you that I'm doing a million times better now that I'm used to all this. You doing ok? Xoxx

  16. I'm doing great now that I'm halfway through pre-op... Your surgery is tomorrow! Eek! I'll be sending positive vibes your way... Lemme know how it went! xox

  17. Hi there, Obviously I haven't been banded yet, so I'm not a complete expert, but first of all, I wanna say don't give up hope! My first few days of the liquid diet were utter-hell, but I'm now one week in and it's a lot better. Not just cause I'm in ketosis, but cause I'm used to it. About what you said about your reasons for considering canceling.... You aren't gonna live your life with no choices. If you choose to have a glass of wine sometimes, it isn't going to kill you, it just might slow down your weight loss a little bit. Beer could be iffy cause of the carbonation, but really, I don't think that at the proper restriction, there is anything you'll have to avoid completely, just some things you'll have to enjoy in moderation, or knowing that you're choosing to enjoy that food or drink at the cost of a loss that week - which I think is a totally realistic and fine thing to choose sometimes. I hope you start to find pre-op easier, and let us know if there's any way we can support you! xox angie
  18. Hey all! So glad to be a Lucky Loser... only a week and a day till my surgery! wehoo!
  19. I love this thread. I will not miss... Not being able to fit into designer jeans Automatically grabbing the XL or L (if thats all they have) in a store and *hoping* it'll fit Wearing leggings and dresses all the time Shopping at plus-size stores Having to shop at the big-boobie-bra-boutique My thighs chaffing when I go for a long walk in a skirt. Feeling like it's not worth it to look good (hair and makeup) cause my body is still fat. Having people say I have a such a pretty face (with the implied if only your body matched) Being afraid of sailing, windsurfing, canoeing etc - for the fear I'll fall out of the boat and won't have the strength/will be too heavy for someone to be able to pull me back in. Going to McDonalds and ordering an extra drink so they don't know it's all for me... Having guys be plenty happy to hook up with me but never want to call me their girlfriend. Ah there are so many, those are the first that come to my mind...
  20. Till surgery on the 4th... I really just don't know what to do. I hate them so much that I'm like pretty much not eating at all... I need to call my clinic and ask them what to do.

  21. What an appropriate thread for me -I feel like I'm literally in HELL. I am on day 3 of a two-week pre-op Medi-Trim and raw veggies ONLY diet, and it's killer. I hate the shakes, I'm supposed to have 3 totally 750 cals and 230 cals of raw green veggies a day... In the past 2 days I've never gotten more than 1.5 shakes and a bit of veggies down... I feel SO weak and like s**t, but I just have to say... One day at a time, and it'll be worth it. Angie
  22. Ummm. AWFUL. I hate them. I'm really sleepy all the time. Bad news haha.

  23. Hey Ang from another Ang! been reading your blog-its great! well except I can't read the text with the background so I've been copy and pasting... Anyways you sound like you're doing a great job, good for you!!
