  1. Hi Matilda, great to hear you are doing so well. I am really struggling. I have been hungry and able to eat anything since last week! I have really tried to stick to 1000cals and even though I havent gone over my weight has just gone up then down but stayed static. I have still kept off the 29lb but not lost anymore. I am really going through a roller coaster of emotions. But I guess thats why they call this Bandster Hell! Well done sticking to liquids for so long! I am more than ready to go back to work! I have never had 3 weeks off in my life but now I have a weeks holiday as we have my partner's sons for the week so I wont be back to work until the 19th April. I can not tell you how much I need a fill aaarrrggghhh. Hope work was ok today x

  2. I was supposed to do liquid for 2 weeks then mushies but I can already eat mushies (oh just thought, 2 weeks today!) and yesterday I had a normal dinner. Well veg, mashed potato and just one mouthful of lamb but no problems. I am still not losing but I keep a food log so I can show the surgeon what I have been eating. I know what you mean about the smaller clothes, they are not always a good fit at first but whats worse, baggy clothes or snug ones? I dont think either is good but if you are between sizes what do you do. You will soon lose the muffin top ;-)

The weather has been rubbish here, rain, rain and more rain broken up with a dash of sunshine.

I am off to the gym this morning to do some walking. Let you know how that goes. Take care x

  3. Hi Brodie how are you doing? How is the weight loss going? I feel the same way you did with not losing much since being banded and I have now gained 3lb! On what I dont know because I am having less than 700cals a day but I am trying hard to stay positive. Just wondered if things are any better for you and if you have any tips to get through this bit? Take care.

  4. Well done on the weight loss! I bet you were pleased. You must notice the difference in your clothes too? I am going to start weighing and measuring everything because I have gained 3lb in the last two days and I havent had anything I shouldn't have? I am at a loss as to why this is happening but I dont like it. :-( So I guess this will be the start of "bandster hell" for me. I am still down to 248 from 277 but that is only 7lb since the band. My mind is racing now, what happens if I follow all the rules and still dont lose weight? I am just hoping the fill will do the trick. Maybe Ive just healed really fast so have no restriction at all. Whatever the reason I have to get back on it because everyone keeps asking me "how much have you lost now?" and I dont want to say Ive gained. I didn't ask about driving. Are you ok to drive so soon?

  5. Ah Bandster Hell I wondered what that was and now I know! I am 10 days post op and just the same. Not eating yet but panicking about every calorie. Weighing myself almost every hour and throughly stressed. Bring on the first fill. I think I have another 5 weeks to wait aarrgghh.
  6. Hi I loved your post on things you wont miss. It was very touching and brave of you to share, thank you. But the thing that made me smile was the Biggest Loser comment. I watch the Biggest Loser and so does my tiny sister (UK size 6) and she talks about how big they all are and I have to wait until week 6 before they are my weight. And she was always saying to me "look they can do it, you could too" But they dont have to do anything else but concentrate on their weight and they have advisors etc etc. Now I am banded (10 days in) she calls everyday to see how much weight I am losing. I know she is pleased I have done this and is trying to encourage me but sometimes it feels like pressure.

Anyway thanks for sharing and take care.

  7. Hi there, thanks for my messages. I have checked out lots of scars and you are right they are all different. Some of the glues ones look great. I wish mine were glued because my stitches have been on for two weeks now and I'm hoping they have finally closed.

I love scrapbooking and card making and I belong to UK Scrapaholics. I would love to see your work. Do you have any online? I also wanted to comment on your post the other day about your inlaws. I was married for 11 years and my inlaws were just the same. Mothers of sons eh? But I spent 11 years trying to please them and it was such a waste of time because no matter how much I tried they always found something to pick on. You are a lovely person, dont waste a minute trying to be anything other than true to yourself. Its all that matters in the end.

    8 days in!

Hi everyone, Day eight and I am feeling much better. I went yesterday to have my stitched taken off and was so looking forward to a long soak in the bath but they put another lot of stitches on "just to be on the safe side". Thats another week and no bath. I also went for quite a long walk yesterday and it was ok, didn't tire me out so much, which is good. I am a little obsessed over calories and yesterday was the first day I had over 500cals. I am going to try to get 1000cals today. I have been living off WW smooth yogurt (its very runny) and WW soup so both are very low calorie. But I got some Slim Fast yesterday so I am going to have that today and hopefully that will get my calories intake up to the 1000 mark. I am very worried that after all this liquid as soon as we go onto mushies we will put on weight. And I'm still not hungry. Must get off the scales! Is anyone else a slave to them?
  9. Oh Matilda now I am freaked that I am having too much. I have had runny yogurt, smooth soup and now adding shakes (slimfast) but they are 230cals each. I have had no problems with quantitiy, I mean the first week I couldnt drink more than 5oz of fluid at a time (half a cup of tea) but now I have just had a 250ml slim fast shake with no problem. Is that normal? Im still not hungry well maybe a bit by the afternoon but I dont get hungry in the morning. I have a headache today which means I need more water so will concentrate on that today. Good going with the walking, they say its the best thing.

Yesterday I went through my wardrobe and threw away anything that was loose and too big. That was fun.

  10. Hi everyone, Elleaitch Im doing fine 8 days in, how are you? Matilda every day is different isnt it? Today I feel much much better. Its been raining here for 2 days and that never puts me in a good mood. I am a sunshine girl.

Maria I am surprised how many people have hernia's fixed at the same time. I didn't know they were so common. How are you feeling today. MMM soup, the first bowl is so good.

I am going to try slim fast today because I am having mainly WW soup and yogurt and struggling to get above 500 cals which is not good. Is anyone else counting cals if yes how many are you having?

    Day 5 postop

Hi Honey, no one really prepares you forthe emotional stuff do they? I felt bad when I had the blues because this was supposed to be what I wanted so why was I unhappy? But I have never had an operation this severe before so I dont know how Im supposed to feel or how long the recovery should take. Well done on the walk. I bet you did pay for it later. I found it feels ok when you are doing it but then in the evening the pain is intense. Are you worse in the evening? I have always had to gulp a small amount of air then burp but now I gulp the air and get no burp then I have even more air inside me! Once it does come out it seems to go on forever but boy does it feel good. Good luck finding what works for you. Have you tried rocking? People might think you are nuts but it sometimes works for me.
  13. How are you doing post op reference pain and energy? I feel strong at home so increase my activity a little then I am in pain or too tired to move. I walked to the supermarket today (about 10 min walk each way) and when I got there I felt light headed and dizzy so I went to the coffee shop and had some milk and felt a bit better. I am really interested in how you are feeling. I mean how much are you doing now? Do you feel drained because of the op or do you think the lack of energy is down to the reduced diet? I am getting about 300cals a day now but thats only been the last 3 days, before was under 200. How much are you managing. Help:scared2:

  14. Hi Sammy, hows the tummy ache? Does it usually last a long time? How are you doing calorie wise? I am struggling to get more than about 250cals a day which is great for weight loss but not so good for long term health. Plus Im starting to feel guilty if I consume more. Anyway hope you are feeling a bit better today, take care x

  15. I am worried about gaining on the mushie stage as I am only getting about 200cals a day at the moment. So surely it must go up when that increases? But hopefully I will be able to exercise by then so maybe that will help.

    Entering uncharted terroritory

Hi and welcome to being banded. You have chosen an excellant age to have this done. You will still be young once all your excess weight is gone and you can enjoy a full and active life. Well done. I was banded on 22nd March and doing well so far. I have found this site invaluable for information, support and encouragement. Hopefully you will too. Take care,
  17. Its good to hear you can have the time off work and not have to worry. It makes getting better less stressful. I got a letter today saying I have to go for a barium x ray on the 23/4. Im not sure what that is but hey ho. I have never had wonton soup before but it tasted like heaven. I havent had anything today except a cup of tea. I just dont fancy anything. My stomach is growling but Im not hungry. Maybe I will have a yogurt later. So I went out shopping, I went to 3 different shops and had a mouch round. I wasnt tired but I was sore when I got home. Honestly I was surprised how a couple of hours took its toll. But I was glad to get out. Im going to try a shorter trip tomorrow.

Hopefully your gas will get better after your walk. Are you having trouble releasing it? Is it worse in the evening?

    Day 5

Hi Jacki, I bet you were in agony! I just knocked my against the sink and nearly cried. I have one on the other side to my port that is still a bit sore but other than that they are fine. I am not looking forward to having all the dressings and stitches off on Monday. I am sure thats going to hurt. I went out today and although I wasnt tired I was sore when I got home. Retired to the couch for an hour. Are you getting much rest with a little one?

    Day 5

Hi everyone, Its day five and I am feeling much better. Not very sore, very little gas pain (only at night really) and ready to get outside. I am stir crazy. I am also a little hungry but trying to ignore it. Not starving but just a rumbling tum. Just a short entry today to let you know I think the blues was a short term thing resulting from all the meds leaving my body and there is light on the other side. The sun is shinning and although I cant sleep on my side yet its all good. Plus the scales said I have lost 5lb this week! :blushing: Hope you are all well and on the road to recovery. Take care

    day 3 blues

wow Susan you are doing so well. Remember the inside needs to heal too though. Take care. Simply I felt just the same but I feel so much better today. Susan is right everyday does get better. I am pretty good at getting rid of the gas but it seems worse just before bed time. When do you both have your first fills?

    day 3 blues

Well Im 3 days post op and I think all the good meds must have all worn off because I feel very low and sorry for myself today. I am usually a very cheerful person but Im bored feeling sore and being scared to do anything in case I dislodge the band or knock my stitches. I turned over in bed and my stitches have bled again. I cant drink enough without getting a tight pain accross my chest and I want a shower! Boo Hoo I sound pathetic. I am not going to write anymore until I can say something good. Dont want to bring eveyone down. Bye for now, Im off for a wallow.
  23. I feel really good this morning. I can now drink a whole cup of tea. (thats 7oz) and I am hardly sore at all. I cant tell if the sensation I am feeling is hunger or just my insides healing. My tummy is growling though. Clears is pretty harsh for a week. I am allowed smooth yogurt, smooth soup tea, milk and strangly enough custard? I cant work that one out. Are you still sore? How are you sleeping? The sleeping on my back is keeping me up as its so hard to do the right thing when you are asleep. I am going out today, I am so stir crazy. I need to see the outside world. Might end up paying for it later but I will take it easy. Love your new pics, you look great.
