  1. Oh no! I wonder if I did something similar. I bent over Sunday and felt a huge ouch in left side. Since then I have damn near unbearable left side pain near incision. I was going to call the surgeon tomorrow. It's 3 hours away and I'd like to avoid that drive if possible. I'm worried its a hernia or something.

I sure hope you feel better soon.

That's how mine felt. I dealt with it for two days then I couldn't take it. I would get checked if I were u.

  2. So I have found the absolute best sources of Protein. Muscle milk chocolate and strawberry are my friends (20G protein) and adkins carmel cafe (15g) and vanilla bean torte nectar mixed with almond milk. I am in heaven now when it comes to getting the protein. Getting 55-60 g in just liquid form then with my string cheese and Beans I think I'm at about 70 a day. Now my Water that's another story. I loved water before now I just can't get it down. I've been drinking v8 splash diet once a day. And I do not want to see any more crystal light, ugh!!!! Can't wait till my first pre op visiy I get to eat meat after that, pureed of course and mash potatoes! !!

  3. Just an update :)

Still in hospital. This visit has been since the 25th of March. The doctors are still suspecting a leak. They are trying to give it time to heal' date=' if that is what the outcome is. So I don't have a cat scan leak test until Wednesday of this week. Really at this point the only pain I have is from site where they put a drain tube in last week. I have my pic lines now and must say I absolutely love them. No more pain from blood draws, new ivs, new meds! Of course the most important thing is that I can get nutrients I need from the pic line.

My nurse tonight asked me when my original surgery was. When I told her she said wow its been almost a month since your surgery. (Ok she was exaggerating a bit) Makes me kinda to hmmmmm never thought anything like this would happen to me. So far I have been in the hospital from 3/14-3/18, 3/25-present, I've had more iv lines than I can remember (seriously), I have two pic lines, one drain, numerous chest X-rays, upper gi series with contrast, 4 or 5 cat scans (never had one in my life before this). I know way too many doctors and nurses now by first name! :)

Overall still not an experience I would wish on anyone. Not as hard or bad of a situation I thought it would turn out to be. I never knew how hard this would really be on my family if something went wrong. Ive worried my husband & parents to death! my plans of not telling My Extended family and some of my friends went out the window. had to tell them why I kept staying at the hospital. I'm jealous I'm behind my other 'march' post ops with drinking and eating and even exercising. I hope this motivates me even more that there is no way I would go through this whole situation and not make sure it works for me!

Wow that seems like a long post. Thanks for letting me rant! :) still wishing all the other post ops speedy and non eventful recoveries!!![/quote']

    Praying for your recovery!

  4. Does anyone know when the binder officially comes off?? I hate this thing lol!! I know on the 2nd I can start using my stomach muscles and can bend over :) Can't wait for that

I take mine off to sleep, I have to, I jus hold a pillow over me. But when we can officially go without I have no clue, everybody is different. Like I read some ppl eating eggs, I can't have those till wk 5. So it may depend on ur doc when it can come off.

  5. Had surgery 3/25 and have to say I'm doing ok. Stomach very sore and feel like a Mac truck ran over me several times! Have progressed to full liquids and so far so good. Haven't felt like eating and no hunger pains. Doc was going to send me home this evening but having issues with the insulin and sugars too high. Sure hope this resolves itself since that is why I had surgery in the first place. Had a shower and have been walking lots. Baby steps towards the new me!

I had issues in the hospital with my blood sugars but once I got home I have only had to treat them twice!!! Always under 150 running 114-125 actually. I love it!!!!

  6. It has been 6 days since surgery. The pain is slowly but surely going away. My biggest issue is drinking and Protein. I do not like the taste of any of the protein I bought lol. The nectar is really good but it leaves this horrible after taste in my mouth, ugh! Still sleeping in recliner, but I plan on moving to my bed this week. Gas is not as bad, just annoying if anything. Had an emotional breakdown today, all I wanted was a slice of pizza and I couldn't have it. It was hard but my family was great and they ate away from me and made sure the kitchen was clear of pizza when they finished. I am going to seek out other protein supplements gotta find something that works. Oh and I am down 16 lbs since surgery date :)
