I started at 287 and it wasn't until I lost 75 pounds that I started to notice a difference and my waist changed enough for me to start wearing non elasticized pants. If you are like me and your abdomen is your biggest trouble zone just be patient, like everyone stated it will happen. That's a fantastic loss considering you just had your surgery in December. Celebrate it!

Stalls are like lovers. Your first will probably not be your last.
My longest stall was four months even though I was still at 800 calories. My doctor told me to eat/drink more dairy (allegedly the extra Calcium helps) and eat some carbs.
So, I upped my dairy, doubled my carbs from 25 grams to 50 grams (which is still not a lot of carbs, but keeps me out of ketosis) and increased my Protein from 80-100 grams, and increased my Water to 100 ounces (most days). This incased my calories to closer to 1000-1200.
Would you believe????? Even though the weight has started moving down slowly....it is moving down again, and I will take that.
And yes, I am exercising and following my plan. I did not gain over the holidays.

The best Protein depends on your body sometimes. Some people end up preferring or tolerating a whey based Protein powder better. Best Protein if you aren't on a liquid diet will come from actual foods. Lean meat, chicken, fish, milk is a good source as well as legumes, lentils, quinoa.. As far as the shakes go a lot of people like the Premier Protein, but in the states powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is #1. Look at their website online, they have tons of flavours and you can buy a variety pack before committing to buy any one flavour. Syntrax nectar is popular as the flavours are fruity instead of the usual so a nice change. I believe they also come in a trial flavour pack. Those are a few I would look into if I were you.
    Good luck

thank you I am required to take a nutrition class and have to be cleared by the nutritionist for insurance. I am doing a low carb 1500 calorie diet. My dr said after surgery my goal will be to stay at a 500 to 800 call diet. And to gets lots of protein. I have no idea where to start with protein what's best the already mixed or maybe the can of powder dose it matter? I guess I should try to taste these things before hand. Thank you so much for the advice!

Agree with @@BLERDgirl, get a measuring tape and tell your scale to 'suck it'.. lol Different things work for different people as far a stalls go. Stay away from carbs, Up your Water, Avoid dairy, up your exercise, depending on your calorie intake sometimes upping those will break your stall choosing healthy options. As long as you are making good choices the stall will break, but unfortunately it can take months although this early out it likely won't. Remember too that until it stops for a good 2-3 weeks it isn't really considered a stall, more a biting annoyance Good luck
I am not suggesting that you do all of the above things, only that the individually listed ideas above are different things that have worked for a large number of sleeve patients that I know, not necessarily in specific combination with one another. These are suggestions to break stalls not to put into place longterm.

I had not even heard of the sleeve until I went to my primary to ask about a lap band. I have had my sleeve for a year - no complications - no regrets.

I think 10-15yr veterans will be null and void because the sleeve hasn't been around for that long. So you might want to lower your veteran requirements I am just over a year out and have no regrets, but the usual, should have done it sooner!

I'm so glad that I'm not alone in this scenario haha! Honestly I haven't contributed to the forums in at least a year but after the my last week of a reset liquid-diet I guess I have been feeling nostalgic. I'm two years out (Dec 2014 anniversary) and this was the first time since my surgery that I have seen the scales go up. I gained about 10lbs from Halloween - New Years primarily due to wine and sweets at holiday parties. I guess that is bound to happen when you have three Thanksgivings to go to over the course of two weeks!!
So I went to a Protein Shake, fresh fruit, fresh veggies diet for 10 days and now I'm reintroducing fresh whole foods back into my diet. It feels good to be back on track and down 5lbs!

I am 3 years out and had put on 10 lbs over the holidays. I too have kicked my self and been very angry for falling back into old habits and irrational thoughts. This is all cognitive too. I am a sugar addict and even though I knew this, I kept eating all the candy I wanted, and it had become habit to put into my mouth without a thought. I would then rationalize and say I would stop tomorrow. Each day it was tomorrow. This was a flash back to the past....
So in the past two days I have stopped eating carbs, I have a Protein Drink in the AM and a healthy high Protein meal for lunch, and protein for dinner.. I am following the 5:2 diet plan also. I just did 2 days of eating 700 calories and I lost 2 lbs. This diet is posted here. The diet saids to do 500 calories but I struggle with keeping it that low. So if I can do this so can everyone else here. Don't be too hard on yourself, this is a learning lesson. Get back on the wagon and stay away from carbs and keep portion size small. I can eat more but I'm not hungry. I'm over eating and that caused weight gain. but it tasted so good is the rationale I would use. In fact, I was just making excuses. We really don't need to eat as much food as we have and other people are still eating. Less is better and healthier. Hang in there and be good to yourself...

I lost all m weight. If you stick to Protein first and a little veggies when you have room, you can't help but lose.
Try not to worry. Of course if you cheat and eat candy which goes down very easily. that will change everything.
You can do it if you are dedicated to following the rules and adding some exercise in.

It has been a while since I have logged on... and I just had my 4th month post op visit with my doctor/nutritionist. I have lost 43 pounds in total and am so EXCITED! I feel great!!
Now, I am a little bit concerned because the NUT said that I am about 50%. He said most gastric sleeve patients lose 65% of their excess weight. So, that would mean, if I weighed 100 pounds over my IDEAL weight then I am expected to lose about 65 pounds and they consider that to be the norm. NOW, I want to lose the 100 pounds that I am over weight by -- but the NUT made me feel like that was not typical and went one to say that when one is heavy it takes more energy and therefore you lose more weight but once you have lost about 65% of the excess weight it is more difficult... So, is he trying to discourage me or, well, I don't know?
So, those of you who have had the surgery and are at the 1 year mark -- did you lose ALL your excess weight or was it the 65% of the EXCESS weight that my NUT was talking about?

    Great job on the loss!!!!
I was right there with everyone on the holiday weight gain. But I got it under control and did 9 days of liquids and you would not believe how much stronger my restriction is again now. It's like being fresh out of surgery. I did it because I read a post from someone who thought they'd stretched their sleeve and their doctor put them on one for 2 weeks. They did xrays and there was a substantial difference between the before and after, feeling like I do now I believe it. Strongly recommend doing it if you feel like I did about the quantity of what you can eat.

I hope everyone gets to experience this feeling. Tomorrow I start my pre op diet and I have never been more excited to start a diet! And I never thought I would be saying that! This has been such a long process and I can not believe it's finally coming to fruition! I just needed to share! Good luck to everyone, and hang in there!

It's the INTERNET people!! We are NOT all friends, we are NOT all family. We are NOT all going to agree on everything every time. It's a bunch of strangers behind a computer monitor, free to say what they want without repercussion. It's highly unlikely that everything that is said on an internet forum would be said to someone face to face.
    IT'S OK!!!

You don't like me? I'm OK with that. You hate my opinion? I'm OK with that. You think I'm a b***h? AWESOME!! I really don't care.

I have real life friends and family, as I am sure you do. If I make a few friends here, fabulous. If I make a few NOT friends here (I don't do internet enemies, that's silly), fantastic!
Forums are a place for discussion. An exchange of ideas. A place to share your opinion and hear the opinions of others. We learn and grow from opinions that don't match ours. It doesn't mean we have to change our opinion or that our opinion is BAD or WRONG, it's just different.
You hate this place and want to leave? GO!! Don't let the doorknob hit you.

You want to pass judgement on others for living their lives differently than you? YOU'RE THE PROBLEM.
We have an awesome feature on this forum where you block people you don't like. You will never see their posts again. Use it. If you don't like something you've just read, MOVE ON. You replied to a thread and don't want to read any more about the topic? UNFOLLOW. Someone's advice mortally offends you, say so respectfully and move on. You aren't interested in what you've read or you think someone has moved off topic? Don't read further. It's no big deal. You don't like reading the same question over and over? Don't answer. The world WILL NOT stop because you didn't put your two cents in, I promise you.

Getting in a good amount of healthy fat every day will help your dry hair. So that's a place to start.
I think the most important thing you can do right now is to stop comparing yourself to other people. It's making you frustrated and unhappy. To quote Teddy Roosevelt, comparison is the thief of joy. Our bodies don't always behave like we think they should -- they are not computers where we put in the numbers, run an equation, and always get the exact and desired answer. And they certainly don't all behave the same way!
If you are not tracking your intake, I would suggest you give that a shot for at least a few weeks. Set yourself guidelines in terms of calories, carbs, Protein, and fat, and work on those carefully. Measure/weigh what you eat. This will give you a picture of what you are actually taking in and what can be tweaked, either higher or lower. All that said, it may be that your body is just doing what it wants, at its own pace, and tweaking isn't really called for. That's where the "stop comparing yourself" bit gets important IMO - it's hard to focus on your success and how well things are going when there is *always* someone losing faster, finding it easier, etc. You may even want to walk away from this forum and others if it is just making you unhappy (not that I want to see you or anyone else actually leave - but do what you need to in order to preserve your happiness and spirit).
Finally, I'll say I'm really angry at your surgeon and his assistant for telling you that you will achieve a set amount of weight loss in a specified time. I think that's incredibly irresponsible. I will tell you that I lost a lot less than 40 lbs in the first two months after surgery (yes I was following all the rules) and my bariatric team was thrilled with my progress and said I was doing great. So I think that you should silently tell your surgeon and his PA to stuff it
