  1. I am getting more nervous each day but seems this week is taking forever to go by. Can't believe surgery is on Monday already. I wish I still had fb took it down due to crazy stalker issues, I use my husbands from time to time still.

You could create a new one with an anonymous name to use. We have 3 members that share your date :-)

  2. Hi everyone - I have made the decision to have Gastric Sleeve surgery on November 25th in Mexico with Dr Ortiz and A Lighter Me - I have been thinking about having something done for almost a year now and I just finally decided to go forward. I'm nervous and excited - going from Canada to Mexico is a bit nerve wracking I have to admit. If there is anyone else going for that date I would love to hear from you - going to start taking some before pictures and measurements - and lots of prayers for a good outcome!

    Jen

We have 12 sleevers on that date in our fb support group, admit not sure if any are going to mexico but could look into it... Good luck. I'm Canadian too.

  3. I'm not telling a ton of people either, my brothers are staying in the dark.. it's a very personal choice. I don't know how I'll feel about telling people post but for now I'm keeping it close to home. It is very freeing to share the experience on places like this though. And in groups where judgement is based in understanding or left at the door altogether.. I know I'm pushing the whole secret/private november Facebook thing, but it really is an amazing group of people and most are very involved on the page and it's all about the positive.. we have over 100 members and 3 surgeries are on the 18th and 4 on the 26th.. regardless it's no one's business how you live your life but yours!

  4. hea

Have had any problems with headaches? I start my liquid diet Wednesday but I'm allowed to have raw, fresh veggies also. Good luck!

Oh yes I'm start day 7 of my liquid pre-op tomorrow. First 3 days constant headache.. also seems to be the consensus for a lot of liquider's on our FB support group too....so drink lots and lots and lots... if you wake up through the night, drink, turn over, drink. You may have to pee couple times through the night but that's a much better option than the headache. It did go away on day 4.. Good luck

  5. If you are looking for extra support we have a Facebook group full of very friendly caring members from this site. We have 5 members scheduled for surgery on the 11th.. if you want to join us on our journey there just message me your email and I will send you an invite. It is a secret group and not visible to others who are not a part of it.. Good luck tomorrow, healing thoughts.

  6. I'm on Optifast too I get 4/day and up to 2 cups of raw cucumber spinach or celery.. and as much clears 0 cal's and broth as I can drink. I have 22 days of this... If you are interested we have a 'secret' Facebook group full of people currently on some kind of pre-op.. We're a great group of folks and no negative nellies in the bunch.. if you want some extra support please message me your email and I will invite you.. We currently have just over a hundred members..We're always welcoming new members with open arms.. It's a safe place to add to your support system.. We have some December sleevers as well so we're not limited to November... I wish you all the best and good luck in your journey :)

  7. I don't know you but I'm proud of you. I can't imagine being on a preop for so long only to hear such craptacular news... You are a very strong person to have already been doing so well on one. I can tell you that you don't want it to be an open surgery if you can avoid it. The recovery time goes wayyyy up and your comfort level is soo much worse. I have had 2 laproscopic surgeries and a C-section.. i'll take the smaller incision recovery any day of the week.. Stay strong. I am pre-sleeve but pray it's able to be done laproscopically. Good luck.

  8. Just had surgery on Monday, November 4, 2013. The morning of the surgery I weighted in at 212 lbs and got on the scale this morning and was down 6 lbs!! I am on a clear liquid diet for a week and then 11/7 meet with the bariatric nurse and if all goes well will move onto the full liquid stage. I look forward to using this site as a support system; as well as, a reference site for suggestions and recipes. I was a type 2 diabetic taking oral meds. But no loner am taking them and hope to be off my bp meds as we'll soon. Very excited newbie!!!

If you are a Facebook user and looking for more support we have a wonderful group for November sleevers and 7 of our members were sleeved on the 4th.. if you're interested message me your email and i'll invite you :)

  9. Questions, I have questions. Not about the pre surgery diet or anything like that, but our Facebook group. Can our regular Facebook friends see our posts. I am hesitating saying anything there till I find out. I have some real life friends who are "Negative Nellies" and I don't need negativity before surgery. Lovely people but have a hard time saying encouraging words.Let me know if what I post or responses to your posts are private please.

No, the posts and likes you make there do not show up on your timeline..just be sure to delete or hide your recent activity on the left side of your profile or the group invite will show up and you're good :-)

  10. Finally got everything squared away today - my surgery date is November 21st! :D I'm starting to get really excited, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up as my physician is slightly worried that a previous hernia surgery will render it impossible. However, I'm moving forward and getting everything ready like it's happening. With that in mind, I'd really like to join the fb group if at all possible. Email: skinnypurplefaery@gmail.com Good luck and best wishes to everyone having surgery tomorrow!

    Invite sent :-)

  11. Ladies, if you are interested in more supported please feel free to message me your email and join our FB support group... it's a very active group and negativity just is not an issue.. We have 3 members that are being sleeved today the 5th and more earlier..4 being sleeved tomorrow...and so on... our busiest day is the 25th when we currently have 10 members booked. Good luck in your journeys!

  12. 11/8 is going to be here before I know. I'm so afraid that I will regret this. Mainly because of what I think society feels about having the surgery. I'm afraid I still will want to eat crappy food in 2 years from now. My mind is going crazy. I don't want to feel ashamed for having the surgery but I already feel it a little. watch the biggest loser and I feel that somehow I should be able to. I've done it twice in the past with exercise and diet but I just don't have it in me. I'm obviously going through with it but just trying to work it all out in my head still. Vent over.

Please keep in mind that most people don't have the ability to leave there jobs for months on end to be on a TV show, and as inspiring as that show can be, even some of their contestants gain the weight back... I've done it before with diet and exercise too. I lost 76 pounds and then I gained it back and 11 more.... This surgery is a tool to help us in our journey to health. Don't feel guilty for choosing to make a better life for yourself, if you insist of feeling guilty do it over not doing it sooner! :) But I still think you shouldn't feel guilty for either. This site is great for support and if you need some extra, I hope you accept and join our Facebook group, we'll hold you up when you feel like you can't do it yourself.
