Woohoo Ann! Good luck! You have had to wait a little and that is not a bad thing. As you wait, you learn more! I am just realize I am not really on track at 8 months out. I have to get busy! Do not think I am getting enough Protein in as I am still in diet mode (the NUT told me I was doing too much Protein at 3 months). This really is a process that is wonderful though!

Wow, Max, proud of you. That is great not having to use the electric cart. My husband has to use the cart and he is not on oxygen, he just cannot walk due to pain and instability. Being able to walk for you is major, and at least you are moving. The weight does not magically fall away Max, you are doing great. I am so glad for you. I will bet you come off that oxygen!

Husband and I are 67 and 5 months sleeved. Wonderful experience. I am off Metformin. I no longer need the asthma inhalers. He is being weaned off the cpap. We are both off 1 BP med each. I am not gasping for breath when I come in from the grocery store. I have had more life in me the past five months than I did the last five years. This is the best thing we could have ever done for ourselves because we were destined to die in the recliners at the rate we were going. God Bless!

I had arthroscopic knee surgery in 2007. One visit post op (2 weeks) the surgeon told me I was fine, no need to come back. I was stunned and said "but I am still having so many problems with it". He smirked and said "well maybe you should lose some weight or retire". By the time I got home I was raging with my anger. I immediately made an appointment to return to his office and see him and he looked surprised to see me. LOL. I told him I was highly offended at what he said to me that day and came back just to tell him that. I told him I damaged my knee when I fell on it due to a malfunctioning elevator, not my weight or my job. He sputtered a semi apology about doctors not having a bedside manner. Needless to say when I had to have a total knee replacement 3 years later HE was not the surgeon I chose. Jackass! When I was 30, I would have just cried. Old age has great benefits, I am not intimidated anymore.

Hello, I was sleeved 7/12/12. Type 2 was on a pump and on 120+ units daily give or take a few . Now on 18 units Levemir and humalog boluses as needed if too high before meals or sick days. I had hoped to be off insulin but apparently my pancreas is kaput so I have very little endogenous insulin. Yes, we have to be diligent and proactive when dealing with diabetes . It pays off when you think about avoiding the dire and deadly consequences of this insidious disease. All the best to you my fellow diabetic sleevers! I see my endocrinologist on Thursday . We shall see if A1C is acceptable ...

GoldyGirl, I am 67. I was not offended by you repeating what your husband said to you in anger, and your need to seek some emotional support here from people who have a heart.
I would like to say I have learned a lot in my years, and I implore you to get your backbone up and stand tall. You will beat these problems. Maybe you can seek out a counselor to talk to because you need someone to sit down and listen to you after your surgery. We all have made mistakes in our lives, no one is perfect. The New Year will come, and you will have a new lease on life, and will be able to get yourself healthy and happy.
God Bless you girl, you will be fine. Don't EVER let anyone make you feel less of a woman. Find a friend to help when you can, and most importantly, pray. There is happiness ahead. Focus. Merry Christmas.

I am 68. In 4 days I will be one year post op. I realize now I thought I knew it all because I followed the rules. I really knew nothing. I have not posted in a few months. I have been traveling and enjoying living with my sweet husband who was also sleeved. I have finally relaxed a bit. I get more compliments than you can imagine, even though my weight loss stopped at 160 (from 230), then I stabilized at 170 and I look pretty great I think (LOL)! I am delighted. I will be honest with you. I took Biotin religiously for a year. My hair loss started at 5 months, especially at my temples. I have worn a beautiful wig since June 2014 and I get nothing but compliments. I tell very few people. I would say be prepared with a wig before you need it. Do not buy one online as it must fit right. It is a trade off and I will take the weight loss any day. We are kayaking, walking on the beach, cruising again, and living life to the utmost. Would not change a thing. Best of luck everyone.

Dammit say it like i feel. My daughter gouged out a piece of her leg at 14 on rusty gym equipment. I opted not for plastic surgery. When your daughter becomes an adult let HER choose WLS.

I do not know where you read posts of perfect people because as far as I can tell we are all imperfect and we acknowledge it. We work hard to get where we are. Pizza and candy are not part of my life but I do not claim to be perfect.

LindafromFlorida got a reaction from 4me4them in Nine days after surgery, how to help
I feel so sorry for you. Was he like this before surgery? Honestly I cannot imagine someone acting this way. My husband and I were both sleeved. We are 67. I was shopping at the mall 4-5 days after surgery. My husband had a problem and was kept in the hospital 4 days after surgery, and came home with a catheter. He managed. He has several comorbidities, diabetes, heart stent, HBP, and has a problem walking. I have asthma, diabetes, HBP, knee replacement, yet we have been up walking and happy as can be since being sleeved. We took one dose of pain medicine when we got home. In my uneducated humble opinion, I think you need some counseling just to deal with this, since he sounds as if he would refuse to go. I think you need to keep yourself busy and gone from your home to a mall or a movie, and not be waiting on him hand and foot, or maybe doing yard work out of reach of his voice, so he would be forced to get up and take care of himself. God bless you. I am glad you found this site so that you can have some emotional support. Hugs, Linda

All you have to do is read the previous posts and know we were all scared. We did it. Very few say they have regret. 68 and happy. Walking all over New Orleans yesterday about 25 blocks. Pre-surgery we could not walk period. My opinion is we could sit back and die or do something. We did something and would do it again in a heartbeat. Best wishes!
