Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?

I think that is a great analogy! Good post!
  2. I am sure this Omar fool picks and chooses his victims. I also think he might not be so attentive lately since he could have other things to worry about, like his job? He must be making good money down in Mexico and he needs that job, since he cannot come back to the good old USA without going to jail. On behalf of many women, I hope they do their research here.

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?

"Hateful Mouth" sounds awful Hopeful One. How about focusing on the zillions of posts of people helping people, and count your blessings that we all have this wonderful forum to learn from, share, and help others. I do not know what I would have done without the helpful ones )veterans) here, because my surgeon's office had no answers for me once sleeved. Many veterans do step back at times, and you have yet to see why. When you read over and over about someone sleeved 1 week wanting to know when they can have nachos, beer, whiskey and pizza, well darn, it just gets to you after awhile. You, I promise, will see this, the longer you are here. And I know that you will step back, as I do, and let others respond. I dearly love helping others here, to give the positives and negatives of my husband's and my sleeves, and to share, and to learn from others, even at 9 months out. So please be happy, please focus on being positive and keeping this a wonderful forum for all of us. Blessings to all, Linda
  4. There is nothing to report to a Board about this insensitive doctor, no one will care. I am lucky I am older (hah 68) and did not have children to take care of. It was scary having the sleeve at our age, and I learned the surgeon was pretty much done with us after surgery. Thank God for a great primary care doctor. I feel I became more emotional after surgery also, but 9 months later not so much. We took one dose of the hydrocodone liquid at home, but we were able to rest and relax so maybe you were trying to do too much. Be gentle with yourself. (When people are begging doctors for more narcotic pain meds, I think a red flag goes up. It had nothing to do with you personally). Relax and start feeling better. Good luck!

    Hair lost anybody out there?

I have a friend who has been on Atkins 10 years and has beautiful thick hair. I just did what the surgeon and NUT directed, took good Vitamins and Biotin.

    Hair lost anybody out there?

5 months it started, 9 months now. No re-growth, still coming out. Thought I did everything right, nothing mattered. Just went on vacation in NOLA and bought two hats. Hot as heck anyway and everyone was wearing hats. We will just have to adapt.

    just a lot of grief

Prayers today, for everyone going through suffering and loss. I have healed quite a lot from loss, but I know when it is happening to you it is a raw and horrible pain, causing much suffering. May God Bless and quiet your soul during this process.

    Getting frustrated and down

I know it is frustrating, and we had to come up with $600 for the two of us and if we had not had the money we would have waited. I have a thought - rather than borrowing money and paying interest, maybe postpone your surgery a couple months, continue the pre-op diet, have a couple garage sales, and try to accumulate the cash. We all are anxious once we make the decision. But please be patient. I sincerely wish you the best. Where there is a will, there is a way. Get your mind racing with plans!!!!!!! Good luck. Linda

    65 and over

There are people older than me who have had the sleeve so find another surgeon so you can keep living. God Bless.

    65 and over

I like Premier Protein in the carton. When we were making the shakes, since I hate MILK, I liked EAS Protein powder from Walmart, and my husband, who likes milk, liked Bariatric Advantage powder. We are 67/68 years old.

    I'm the spouse

We women are such worry warts, especially me. My husband has gently let me know a few times how smotheringly over anxious I am when it comes to him. That love of food and feeling like we have to stuff ourselves to be happy, eating like there is no tomorrow, is truly an addiction. Even after surgery he will be able to overeat after a bit. I don't have answers for you, just wanted to say good luck and take care of yourself and get healthy. God Bless! Linda

    Am I too old?

All you have to do is read the previous posts and know we were all scared. We did it. Very few say they have regret. 68 and happy. Walking all over New Orleans yesterday about 25 blocks. Pre-surgery we could not walk period. My opinion is we could sit back and die or do something. We did something and would do it again in a heartbeat. Best wishes!

    Any Florida Sleevers?

Ldav@clearwire.net. I am in Jacksonville. Best wishes!!!!!
  14. In my uneducated opinion this doctor will never ever ever let you get through to him. Much like any doctor, but even more so because he is in Mexico and no repercussions other than financial.
  15. From all the posts I have read about wonderful Omar, this struck a chord and reminded me of a charming, wonderful, nice looking, smooth talking, charismatic, lying, paranoid, thief, abuser, Jekyll & Hyde, who lived under the guise of church choir member, prosecutor's office volunteer, ex police officer, .......blast from the past (1980s) who nearly destroyed me. Omar obviously loves his role of being everything to all women, and who in the world needs or wants attention more than us women who feel unattractive/unloved/lonely because of our weight problems? Move in, move out, the women never meet, compare notes, and he keeps on giving. But someone found him out.

    Extremley tired

Good luck. I just felt wonderful. Amazing our bodies/diets/surgeries are so different but we are here to offer support. Blessings, linda
  17. I was walking the mall 5 days after surgery. Eat/have a shake and go anywhere you want to. You will not be hungry and you can enjoy a wedding. Why would you need to eat? Talk and visit and be sociable. This is the new YOU! Skip the cake. Walk around with a glass of Water or Crystal Light. Life is fabulous!
  18. Misogynist. Does anyone relate to this? I became an expert from personal experience. "You all may ask, what is a misogynist? This is a person who hates, mistrusts or mistreats women. In my opinion, some misogynists don't think they understand what they are doing. Some may think they are doing this out of love and protection over their loved one, however it is wrong. I think it is important for all people out there to know about a misogynists brain. In most cases misogynists do not know they hate women. Most of the time this derives from a female figure in their life who abandoned or neglected them. This could be anyone from a mother, grandmother, aunt or girl. These traumas are planted in the subcortical brain and as time goes on the pain for the male gets worst and worst. This grows to parts of the brain such as the fear processing and memory areas which effects emotional and rational decision making. Most of the time, you never know the person you are falling for is a misogynist. There are many signs of this time of man. First off, in the beginning he acts all enthusiastic, charming, flirtatious and fun. This will make a woman fall for him because her natural defenses are down because she is more willing than ever to fall for him. Then as the relationship progresses, he goes from an irresistible personality to a rude personality and then quickly back to irresistible. This is known as the Jekyl & Hyde personality. The misogynist also tends to be self-centered and very competitive. If someone else is having more fun than him, he can't stand it. Sadly, some men enjoy displeasing women with this. It produces dopamine in their brain and it gives them pleasure, making them want to mistreat women this way over and over again. Some misogynists do not even realize they are mistreating a woman unfairly. They think they are just protecting the one they love by preventing them from doing certain things because they do not trust their woman enough. However, when it comes down to the woman telling him not to do something, he feels he can do it anyway. These misogynists bring in their target with their extreme charm and romance. They wait for the person to fall in love with everything good about them and then their true colors come out. However, it is too late now. The victim has become so infatuated with everything about him that he now has complete control. Now obviously no one should be scared to get out there and date, however be careful when falling in love and make sure you do not let anyone take control of what you do and of your life. "
  19. I did not go to Mexico. I do not know Omar. However, I beg you to reach out to Susan and share whatever is going on. This must STOP. God Bless you.

    Shingles?

Thanks! So sorry for what you went through. Thank God for that vaccine, we had insurance but if you do not, it is worth every penny of the $200 it costs. My friend suffered horribly. My case was so mild in comparison. Good luck and hope you have fun making up that time you lost with the kids.

OMG I'm so tired of liquids...

Angela and Gummy, you are on the road to success! Hide the scale! Enjoy your new life and new things. Best wishes!

    Shingles?

Four months after the sleeve I was hospitalized after 8 hours of vomiting, from some meds I took. I was severely dehydrated. One week later I had shingles. I felt my immune system was down because I was so sick. Two weeks later my son in law I was visiting came down with chicken pox (what comes around goes around). I am thankful I had the shingles vaccine a year ago, and because of it I had a mild case of shingles in comparison to a friend. I know we can get shingles more than once, and I am with you, I would have postponed surgery. Best wishes.

    HELP! I am so anxious!

All you can do is focus on something besides what is in your head. Keep busy with your hands. Paint a room, do something. We all went through this and you will survive it and before you know......you will be 9 months post op like me. Everyone has experienced what you are going through, the nervousness. One thing I did was start a notebook of new recipes, things to plan on trying when I was sleeved, and researched new spices to try for more healthy eating. I also bought a big monthly calendar and made notations on it to help me down the road. This time will pass quickly. I promise! Best of luck, Linda
