I indulge in the occasional potato chip, french fry and candy. I had a spoonful of ice cream tonight with caramel Syrup. And the bad stuff goes down TOO easy. I don't want to feel like I can't have these things again, but feel bad when I eat them. Like the other night, my daughter wanted some fruit Loops. I had a couple and that turned into a handful and if I didn't put the box away, it would've been more. When I fall off, I tell myself that tomorrow is a new day and I'm doing the very best I can. And you're right, we eat it because it 'was there.' Harsh reality is, I'm still eating out of emotion or boredom, but I'm trying really hard to control that. Thanks for having a post like this, I was DYING to confess to someone that understands!

Sleeved on 6/25...I am down 73 total, 24 of this was preop. My bmi is improving. My land were good except my Iron is low and I need to raise my good cholesterol. Loosing some hair, but thankfully my hair is thick so not a problem yet. Feel pretty good other then a little fatigue from the Iron. Cold a lot which is strange to me since I used to get hot real easy. But again That is a side effect of low iron. Feeling pretty good about things. Definitely glad I did this.

I have a 14 year old son and he's one of the main reasons I am doing this.
    I am pre-op - hoping for a 11/14/13 surgery date.
I go thru states where I am scared out of my mind. There are other times I can't wait to get it done. It's all a process. The unknown is scary. But for me the "known" of what my life is going to be like without the surgery is scary, too - I don't want to have to inject myself because I am diabetic, I don't want to have knee replacement surgery due to the damage created by the weight, etc.
So, I'm committed to my decision to do this and realize, I'm going to be a little psycho in the meantime.
Best of luck to you. Stay strong.

I bought my wedding dress 5 months ago and it was 3 sizes too small. Had the sleeve 4 months ago, and it fits today!!!!
First pic is the day I bought the dress, it barely fit over my head with the back completely open!
And the second is today! I still have some upper body fat to lose, but I have 4 months until the wedding!

McButterpants got a reaction from NorCalGirl48 in Post op question about coffee
    Hi guys.
I'm pre-op (working on a 11/14/13 surgery date), but prepping now for post-op diet.
I love coffee - I love coffee like a smoker loves smoking. I like having a cup of coffee when I'm in a meeting, reading a book or the morning paper. I love taking a piping hot coffee with me when I'm on a road trip. I can remember drinking coffee when I was a child - like 7 years old. So, in summary - I'm a coffee addict.
So, I've been thinking about the post surgery diet and if there's a way I can drink coffee at some point and still enjoy it sans cream and sugar or honey (my favorite). I tried mixing it with a unjury vanilla shake this morning and it's OK - I could get used to it.
Was wondering what my fellow coffee lovers out there do after surgery and they are back on "regular" foods.
Any suggestions or recipes would be appreciated! Thanks and have a great day.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on starting your journey.
I, too, am new to the forum and found this a great place to gather information, network and get some great support from others that have gone thru exactly what we're about to do.
Good luck to you. I wish you much success in your journey.

Wellll...... My surgeon no more coffee EVER!!
So yeah I'm drinking my second cup for the day right now as I write this
I had to rebel on at least one thing geesh!!
I'm a black coffee girl. But after surgery it was the one thing that didn't taste the same.. So for months ( I didn't take it up again for two months after) I just had a bit and I had to put milk and stevia in it. Now I'm back to black for the most part depending on the day.
Oh and I now buy my Beans half and half (reg and decaf)
I also must say I have a sleeve of steel not everyone will be so "lucky"

I have told my hubby, parents and will tell my son as the time gets closer.
At this time, I don't plan on telling anyone else. I'm a very private person and just think it's better that way for my situation. I live in a small town where everyone knows your business.
