Awesome sounds like you are doing good!! How many calories, and Protein are you getting a day??

I'm getting 700-750 calories a day and 65-80 grams of protein. I still have a really hard time getting all my Water in. I only average 40-50oz per day. How are you doing?
Fantastic!I'm getting in about 70-100 grams of protein a day with about 800 calories and the scale barely moves. I just started exercising so hopefully that will get the scale moving.

  2. Ugh..why am I putting food in my mouth. .chewing it then spitting it out..I really need to pull it together .. took my kids to cici's pizza..got some soup..which was ok..but then saw my kids food...I just couldn't help it..:( I know it would get stuck if I swallowed ...I know this could be very bad if I continue to do this.

    Hi Meamo

I feel your pain! Even with a two week pre op I'm losing my mind! It's always on food. We will continue to support each other through this initial phase! One day at a time. The rupture will be far worst...keep your eye on the prize.

  3. Hi all although I'm still on full liquids I found recipe for a delicious low carb, high Protein soup! Just don't forget to purée

Brazilian Shrimp Stew (Moqueca de Camaroes

    Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs raw shrimp, peeled & deveined

    1/4 cup olive oil

    1/4 cup onion, diced

    1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 cup roasted red pepper, diced

    1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

    (1) 14 oz can diced tomatoes w/ chili’s

    1 cup coconut milk

    2 Tbl Sriracha hot sauce

    2 Tbl fresh lime juice

    salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan. Saute onions for several minutes until translucent, then add the garlic and peppers and cook for several minutes more. Add the tomatoes, shrimp and cilantro to the pan and simmer gently until the shrimp turns opaque. Pour in the coconut milk and Sriracha sauce, and cook just until heated through – do not boil. Add lime juice and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. Cold beer optional.

    Notes

Note: If you can’t eat shrimp, you can substitute any mild white fish, or even chicken, for the protein in this recipe and it will taste just as amazing!

Approx nutrition info per serving: 294 calories, 19g fat, 5.5g net carbs, 24g protein

  4. All, outside of getting in your fluids and Proteins how many calories are you getting a day?

I has always been told that it isn't about the calories...the focus is on the Protein (which I am still struggling with). That being said, I do use My Fitness Pal, so I checked and it looks like I am eating (or drinking rather) about 670 calories a day....tomorrow I move to puréed foods so I am assuming that number might increase by a few.

Yeah that's what NUT told me. Worry about the protein, it is the most important factor to help not lose too much muscle and to help with skin elasticity, healing and hair.

Btw, don't count on getting much more calories in with the pureed stage. Mine has not changed much. Pureed takes up more room than liquid, so you get full much faster.

I went to soft food on Saturday, was okay for one day, but been having difficulty with the food on the soft diet, so on Monday NUT put me back on Pureed til Friday..he said sometimes an additional week helps then you can go forward. So, I make a second attempt this weekend.

Agree. I'm getting in about 600-700 calories a day with about 80grms protein a day, but still dealing with hunger pains. I'll be on full liquids until Jan 2nd. I'm including Soups but still not getting in more than 700 cal a day.

  5. Hi All:

FYI - my potassium levels were Very Very low and they gave to me via IV and that was probably the worst part thus far of this entire experience! OMG the burning pain of the liquid moving through my veins was indescribable, worst than labor pains or two c-sections. The nurse said everyone reacts differently...

Anyone else experienced this recently or in the past?

  6. not regretting it, but it has been tough for me to eat and drink liquids. When did you have surgery? It gets better each day I promise. The first week I was getting in maybe 20oz of Water and now I'm up to the 64oz. I just have a Water in my hand at all times lol

I had surgery on the 11th. I feel like I'm getting no liquids at all. I know it'll get better with time. Time just needs to come faster lol.

I just keep sipping, not really counting liquids yet to keep hydrated...one day at a time! I also was sleeved on Dec 11th the pain is manageable I've only taken this evening to help sleep. My drain is still pumping out this reddish Fluid, but doctor said as long as it's not greenish or yellowish no need to worry. I don't regret the decision as I was miserable with the band. I'm excited and focusing on healing!!!

  7. Hi my December buddies! December 11th I officially joined to sleevers...yeah! Surgery wasn't that bad and the pain has been tolerable. I was up using the potty and walking by late evening . Don't be brave let them give you all pain meds to help the healing begin. I'm going home today with a drain. Happy happy joy joy

    I'll check-in in a few days.
