:opps2:Okay...I'm a dork. I just realized I type "pre-opt" instead of "pre-op". My bad! Ya'll knew what I was talking about (ya'll= Okie for "you all", just in case).

I had my phone consult with Dr. K today!! Woohooo...one more step in my journey. I can't wait to be on the otherside in "Bandland". I enjoyed speaking with Dr. K. Everything I've read on this thread about him is soooo true. Even over the phone he makes you feel so comfortable. Well....I officially started my own "pre, pre-opt" diet the first of the year. My goal is to loose at least 30 lbs before my surgery date. I figure the actual pre-opt diet will knock off about 10. So far, on my own, I have dropped 13 lbs as of today!! Woooohooo!! I feel as if I'm getting a kick start on my weight loss. Hope everyone is well.

I'm finally an official February '08 Bandster!! Wooohooo!!! I'm not going to make you read my long story about how and why I'm fat. I've been struggling with it all my lift and when I found out about the lapband, I knew it was going to be the right choice for me. I am also self pay and wanted to find somewhere cheaper here in the US. So I will be going to Colorado too. From everything that I have heard and read about Dr. K, I know this is the right decision! My date is February 26. I just can't wait!! Amie

So...those of you who have had surgery at the Crown Point Surgery Center, tell me about your experience. My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 26 at Crown Point and I just wanted some feedback. Can you suggest a goo hotel in that area??? I'm getting sooooo excited!!! I've started my "things to do before & after surgery" list. Woohoo!!! Amie:whoo:

Well friends....I got a call this week from Dr. K's office. They had to reschedule my surgery date a week earlier or a week later because Dr. K has a lapband seminar to attend. My first thought was..."yeah a week earlier!!" Then I thought about it and went for the week later, after his seminar training he has too attend. But it's all good!!! I'm just excited to get this far!!! Okay, a little bit about myself. My name is Amie and I'm from Oklahoma City and like all of us here, I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have tried every diet known to mankind....and have had little successes...but nothing that has truely worked. This led me to research the band. When I found out that many insurance companies where covering it, I thought...finally...this might actually be the tool I need. But of course, my husband's company (city insurance no less) has a written exclusion. Soooo...I began searching for other cheaper, self pay options. I was blessed to find the original Dr. K thread while doing a websearch and could not believe it!!!! My prayers had been answered. So..with that and many other financially answered prayers...here I am!! Scheduled and just a couple months out from reclaiming my health and life back!!! :clap2:This web forum has been truely inspiring and I can not waiting start my journey. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and family ready to make the journey with me to Denver. My loving husband has been so helpful and encouraging. He has even said that he will try his best to eat better with me :hungry:. He's an OKC firefigher (*sigh*..."my hero") and feels he needs to lose a little too. All for now....share more later. I've been hanging around for months...reading up, doing my research and saving $$$$. Well...I'm happy to say I called yesterday and got my date scheduled!!!!! WoooHOOOO!!! I can not wait to join the "lapband club"!!!! My date is February 19th!! I wanted to wait until after my daughter's b-day party. I do have a few questions for everyone. 1. I was unable to open the file the Dr. office sent about the list of hotels in the area. Anyone recommend a good one?? I'll be having my surgery at the Aurora Surgical Center. 2. Aurora Surgical Center....what's it like?? 3. How long is the actual surgery?? That's it for now!!! I just can't wait to jump on the Lapband TRAIN!!!!!! :whoo:

First of all...I have finally decided to go with "Dr. K" for my surgury. Everything I have read has been very positive (minus the overworked, busy women in his office and the office decor). I think I can get passed that if the Dr. is as great as everyone says. I think I'm shooting for surgery the first part of September. Got to make sure all my $$ are in place ya know I have a few more questions for you ladies. Did the Dr. put you on any pre-op diets? What type of pre- or post-op meds does he prescribe? How does he determine what size band you need?? (I didn't even know there were different sizes until reading another thread). Thanks for all the help. Amie

I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks. This is my first post. I'm from OKC and I'm considering using Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. Like many of you, I'm self pay and his services are more in my price range if you know what I mean!! I have a few questions.... Has the doctor or his office helped you find a fill doctor or follow-up care in your area? What was the process like after you made the first call? How long were you in Dever for pre- and post-op???
