Hi! I am in Harrisburg and have been enjoying time biking/walking on the greenbelt. I do a monthly membership at the Y but only in winter and the hottest part of summer so right now no membership because spring and fall I'm all about exercise outside. I'm also just getting back into Contra Dancing which is held bi-weekly in Harrisburg... I'm up for whatever. I live in midtown. PM me if you want to meetup!

Bumble Bee canned chicken pureed with a little light mayo does the trick for me. It is packed with Protein and gets smooth in my bullet. Also, pureed Soups like split pea and Tomato are good.

Once the weight comes off your health and confidence will improve! It doesn't matter about the excess skin. Once you fall in love with the right person they will look past those imperfections! Just take it one day at a time.

No, I lost 56 pounds total...actually 60 now that I'm almost three weeks post-op. That combined my pre and post efforts. I have lost 25 since my surgery and the rest was pre-op. Yea, I'm starting to really notice the change in my middle. Very exciting. This week I'm going to step up the exercise...I'm finally meeting my nutritional goals and things are looking up. :-)

It took me 2 1/2 months and almost 60lbs to go down a size (I started stuffed into a 20)- in the next 42lbs and 7ish months- I have gone down 6 sizes. I've gone from a 2x top and 20/22 bottoms to 6/8 bottoms and a small or medium top. I posted in another thread earlier that I volunteer a lot at my girl's school- a lot of people haven't seen me since may. I have lost maybe 20lbs since may, but EVERYONE has commented on my weightloss- it's as if the other 80lbs never existed! It's crazy to realize that a 5lb loss now brings out bigger clothing and outside "audience" reactions than before! I'm also 4'11- so 5lbs on me is a little different than 5lbs on someone who is 6' or even 5'6!

You will need two weeks minimum! After surgery you'll be weak and in lots of pain. You'll need time to rest and recoup. Not to mention you'll need time to learn how to eat and use your new stomach.

This really helped me when I was in the losing phase... Think about how you gained weight? From right before surgery going back... Basiclly you will lose what you last gain body portion wise . My trouble area was my hips an still is. It took alot to see the sizes drop in that area. Have to think of this too. Plus size clothing is made to fit people that have cushion in different areas. And there made to hide heavier weighted people's trouble areas. Once you get past the size you were in.... The sizes will start to drop quickly!!! Just remember don't buy a lot of cloths... Shop thift stores, goodwill, friends because it can be expensive.

Big Frank, you did an amazing job with a difficult diet. I applaud your success!
We are all very different. What works for one doesn't for others.
One of the reasons for having this surgery is removing the source of Ghrelin, the hunger hormone.
None of us and anticipate before surgery how this will feel after surgery.
I've found there are many ways from point a to point b. We all have our own path.
It takes nothing away from your hard work that someone else does it differently.

I was frustrated with the same thing. Then I thought about how all my clothes are "stretchy", they expanded with me as I lost weight and contracted with me over the first 50 pounds. I think I am used to baggy clothes now. I have a couple of tops that I had to put in the give away pile because I was swimming in them, and I am getting close to that point for other clothes. My work pants are really baggy in the butt, and I can wear one size smaller now too. I just haven't lost as much in the tummy area as I was expecting at this point. It is nice to hear that other struggle with this issue too.

I'm 6 weeks post op and I have lost about 34 lbs. I'm still in my same size clothes. I think I may be down one size but I haven't checked. The way I see it is that, as we get smaller, we should see the sizes come down quicker. I was just telling my best friend how I have lost a little over 30lbs...she is so amazed by this. However, she' seeing this amount in reference to her weight. She is under 200lbs so if she lost over 30lbs it would be a major change in her size. But, for someone like me, who was 264lbs at the time of my surgery, 34lbs is great and quite an accomplishment...but, it is not drastic enough to drop a significant amount in clothes size. It's all relative to how much weight we have to lose. I have no doubt that the weight and inches are coming off. I know I have to be patient before I see a shift in my actual clothing size. I was a size 20 for awhile. I was also able to fit into a size 20 even if I went up a few pounds. Hang in there! The NSV will come for us all!

Thanks ladies! My highest size was a 30/32 and I was "stuffed" into it. Now they fit me better but just thought Id be out of it by now. I know I didn't put on this weight over night so I shouldn't expect to drop sizes over night. :-) it's encouraging to know I'm not the only one. All of you are inspirational!! Keep up the awesome work.

That's really rude to say, you don't know if she is gonna fail, everyone has their weaknesses and everyone has their strengths to flat out say someone is gonna fail is rude.

I joined this site a few months ago and often become turned off by the negative discouraging comments made by other. I agree we should be following the dr order as given but if someone falls off the diet berating them doesn't help. Pre and post sleeve is constant work and can be achieved dispute the progress. Some of us progress slower than others which is fine. Just remember to be honest with your team about you eating habits.
Mentally I thought I was ready for the surgery as I did the preop and everything to the letter. Although I was told what eating would be like after surgery my mind was not ready. In short you can still be successful with a sub par pre op, the real work begins after you are sleeved. Afterward many things change including your sense of taste, smell and more. You will crave the things that you once loved but they won't taste the same nor be accepted in your body the same.
Preop is about shrinking your liver so talk t your to and get there opinion first.

Thanks for YOUR opinion but FAILURE is NOT an option for me!! I cheated...WOW! I didn't binge and I got myself back on track. I celebrated my birthday and I can't take that back...NEVER will FAILURE be acceptable in my book

I don't believe you are destined to fail if you cheat on pre-op but you need to remember why you are doing this. This is preparing your body for MAJOR surgery and your liver has to be small for surgeons to work around. When you fail at pre-op you are only letting down yourself by not only giving into your food addiction but increasing your risk of complications during surgery! I did an entire week of binging before my pre-op as my "goodbye" to my favorite foods but the day I started my liquids I had to stick because you HAVE to put yourself first. Be honest with your surgeon because if you aren't you may be in serious trouble.

Actually, Wendy's chili is my surgeon's fast food of choice. It's not spicy unless you add the extra sauce, and jam packed with Protein and Fiber. Goes down well during soft food phase. Otherwise, I traveled with packed foods to avoid any issues (or temptations!).
    Best of luck!

Premiere Protien shakes from costco. If you look at convenience and the amount of Protein you get (30g) for the calories (160), I think they are the best bet.

So I finally got this weight thing in order. For years it's been a struggle but I have kicked its ASS!!!! My metabolism is for the first time in my entire life on track and normal. I eat and I gain and I work out and eat right and I lose and I maintain. I am now building muscle and I am stronger and faster. I am happy. Despite the struggles, I am happy. Maybe not completely satisfied quite yet because I can't quite conquer love but happy with myself for the first time in a long time is well worth the effort I give everyday to keep on going and succeeding. Hope everyone had a great holiday!! I just got off work and I am going to relax with a Protein Shake and some tunes. The pics I am posting are as recent as a couple days ago at work when I was passing out and today before I head out to the gym.
