    Pandemic Check In

Hi just wanted to check in and see what people are doing differently to deal with what’s going on in the world at the moment. My husband and I were sleeved in Oct 2013 and have started to struggle in the last 2 yrs with 20-30 lbs gain. I’m in Aus and we are only to leave the house for exercise, shopping and essential travel. Neither one of us are working since we returned to Australia so that definitely adds to the stress.

I’m the same walk every day but unfortunately the boredom seems to be my biggest problem at the moment

    Pandemic Check In

Yes I am walking about 2 km a day and keeping myself busy with cleaning, cooking and YouTube but boredom is a definite trigger for eating for me. I’ve gone back to a shake in the morning for breakfast to try to help me with this so I’ll see how that goes. Stay safe and positive everyone

    April 2020 Vets Roll Call

Sleeved in Oct 2013 my husband and I were both done on the same day. I lost about 115 lbs and he lost 110 lbs We were both great for the first 5 years but I struggle with 20 lbs increase and he struggles with about 30 to 35 lbs increase. We do great for a few weeks then stuff it up again. Pandemic is making it worse because we have moved back to Australia and neither of us are working.

    Extreme Measures

So I made the decision to get rid of these extra pounds once and for all. Iv’e been doing this and that but nothing seems to have worked my goal weight is getting further away. After 5 1/2 years I love being at goal and hate the fact I’m carrying around now almost 20lb that I shouldn’t be. It really boils down to lack of making the right choices. There will be many people that disagree with how I’m going to tackle this but I need to act and I need to act now. As of this morning I have gone back on the shakes, 3 a day instead of meals and a small portion of protein at night. Walking 10,000 steps and drinking 2 liters of water. I plan on doing this for 2 weeks and then see where I’m at then start to introduce real food (high protein) If anyone else has done this or is thinking about doing it please let me know how you went. I really dislike the shakes but they worked so well prior to surgery so long ago that I figure it’s worth a try. I’ll check in each day to confirm that I have stuck to it and if it’s working

    Extreme Measures

Hi plenty of ups and downs down 4.5lb so not the result I was hoping for. Back on normal food but trying to stick to about 1000 cal high protein low carb. Pretty much in a stall but I’ll keep at it because there is no other option

    Extreme Measures

FluffyChix i’m using Optifast the same ones I used pre-surgery 5 1/2 years ago. Today was a bust I ate a few things that definitely put me over the 800 calories. Still 6lb down but I know tomorrow I’ll either move backwards or stay the same. Although I’ll be definitely back on track I won’t be using today as an excuse to destroy this opportunity

    Extreme Measures

Still on plan and really feeling the effects but i know it’ll get easier.6lb down It’s not easy but at least I’m seeing results. This is the most weight I’ve lost at one time since going into maintenance. Not as many steps today only 5600 but i just didn’t have enough energy.

    Extreme Measures

Ok still on plan 4lb down and met majority of my goals. I only managed 8000 steps today. 3 shakes and a cup of low starch veg. Struggling with low energy but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Knowing that I’m getting results is making it worthwhile

    Extreme Measures

Day 3 I’ve stuck to the plan but I’m lacking a bit of energy which is to be expected. I added a cup of low starch veg ( tomato, cucumber and mushroom ) yesterday. This will still keep me under the 800 cal a day. I’ve lost 3.3 pounds I couldn’t help myself so far the majority of that is probably fluid but at least I’m seeing positive results. I also met my step and water goals so all going well, getting closer to were I need to be.

    Extreme Measures

So one day down and I woke up this morning feeling good. I completed everything I set out to do yesterday 12,000 steps, 2 liters of water, 3 shakes and tea and coffee throughout the day. It’s funny I found myself going to the fridge to grab a snack from time to time but remembered before I grabbed anything. I haven’t been hungry so I know snacking is just a habit from boredom. I won’t weigh myself for a couple of days, so hopefully this reset gives me the results I need.

Calling all vets- where are you

So true it’s definitely a lightning moment when you understand that it is much work. I went into it thinking it and saying it repeatedly but I don’t think I truly understood it until about 5 years.

Calling all vets- where are you

I’m 51/2 years out and have only just checked in today after about 8months. Struggling with a 15lbs increase not a huge amount but definitely over my danger weight of 143lbs. My vanity goal weight has always been 132lbs which I have probably only achieved a handful of times, generally just before we go on holidays. So that I give myself some wiggle room for a bit of relaxed eating which I tend to do when on holidays. I try never to let myself go above 143lbs as a rule. I can usually get back on track just by being mindful of what I’m eating and logging all my food into my fitness pal but struggling this time around. I have only ever stuck to the rule of walking 10,000 steps a day and haven’t really added any extra exercise at any point. I started out at 253lbs and reached goal in the first 12 months. So I’m very grateful for where I am but know that once you cross your own danger line things can spiral out of control very quickly. About 12months ago I was struggling and tried IF and started to look at Keto but life got in the way and everyone and everything in my life became more important than me. I think I just answered my own question, Gastric Sleeve is a jealous beast and doesn’t like to be ignored. I think if we ignore the rules she set out when we started this journey she will make us pay lol. Good Luck everyone this isn’t a one size fits all. I know coming back to this site gets my head in the right place and makes me focus on myself. Which I think in my case is a rule I can’t forget or I pay the price. I’m interested in how others are going this far out.

Checking in ... 4.5 years out

My Husband and I are almost 5 years Out (Oct) and we take a multi and vitamin D every morning. I also have to take Iron. We have just had our blood tests done and everything is fine but need to continue with what we are taking
  20. 5 years in October for myself and my Husband. We go annually for blood tests and plan on continuing to do this forever. At 3 years we were asked to do a Bone Density test and all was fine. We haven’t been asked to have anything extra done this year. I think by having to go back each year it keeps us on track

    VSG candidate, boyfriend NOT onboard!

I just went back and checked you were supposed to have surgery on the 14th. I’m really hoping you went through with it but if you didn’t we will be here for you when you decide to do it. Good Luck

    VSG candidate, boyfriend NOT onboard!

I think deep down you know your answer to the question. Time for you to do what you need to do. You don’t live with him so tell him he is being immature and irrational. You love the fact he has been supportive of your attempts in the past but that hasn’t worked. Tell him not to call you until he can accept that your putting your health first. That when he is ready to support your decision then feel free to call you. If he doesn’t call he wasn’t worth it. You will find a new network of friends as you follow your journey. They will be the support that he obviously doesn’t think he can be. Learn from what frust8 lived. It’s not a life you would wish on anyone else so don’t let it become your life. Don’t let history repeat itself. Good Luck make sure you let us know once the surgery is completed
