I was sleeved today...or i'll now say yesterday...at 10am. The surgery went great!!! The pain is and always was pretty manageable, my throat is just a tad bit raw, I had one small episode of vomiting, and the staff at the hospital has made me very comfortable. But here in Jersey, the time is now 2:54am...why am I still awake? Because my roommate has decided to wait until 12:30 am to complain non - stop about everything, and now says the pain in his leg is totally unbearable. I understand that pain is pain...I really do...But even after medications were given and everything, I think he's just cursing and swearing and speaking at the top of his lungs just to hear himself speak...No rest for the weary tonight.
You will do fine...best wishes!

I am having my revision to sleeve on Tuesday the 28th.i am 5'4 and 180 pounds. I am excited and scared at the same time. I keep asking myself what are you about to do, then I read these awesome stories from people on here and I can't wait for my turn to come. The anxiety of what's going to happen after surgery scares me.
It's not that bad...I was sleeved Monday and I'm doing really good. No nausea/vomiting, ect...I think you're gonna do fine, especially as you have already had some experience with WLS. Best wishes!

Glad u are feeling well. What was ur out of pocket expense if u don't mind me asking. I just don't want to blind sided. I have UHC
My out of pocket was $2000.00 but it includes a out of pocket max so I won't have any other copays for the remainder of the year. It was a little steep on my pockets, but worth it.

So happy you are past the surgery phase, my surgery is next Thursday 1/30 hope is goes well as yours. Also I am praying for no nausea.
Sending up prayers for your successful surgery also...they key in my opinion is to go slowly with your sips and to start walking the minute your doctor lets u out of bed. Best wishes

I was sleeved on Monday, surgery went well. Arrived at hospital at 8am was on surgery by 11:30, was in room by 2:30pm.woke up with a NG tube down my nose (my MD does as a protocol to prevent vomiting) also had a drain. Was NPO until 24 hours. On Tuesday morning was given leak test with horrible tasting blue dye. (abt 5 oz) it took my 2 hours to drink, but no leaks. Then they gave me a 20oz water bottle with crystal lite. That took me 6 hours to drink. MD d/c me around 6pm and I was able to sleep in own bed last night. So far no nausea or vomiting...incisions & tummy muscles very sore. (Hard to get in/out of bed). But all in all things are going well. My new schedule includes walking and sipping.

You look great! Congratulations! My question would be have you experienced any negative responses to your weight loss, such as "your getting too skinny" or "don't lose anymore, your looking too frail". I'm scheduled to be sleeved on 1/20/14 and I wonder if people who got used to you heavy are concerned that your too small now? ( I think it's weird when we're overweight no one voice thier concerns, but when you have massive weight loss, everyone has a voice of concern). Also how long did it take you to know when your full (before regurgitating) and know when to stop eating? Thanks in advance! Best-wishes for your continued success

So glad your feeling better...at least your medical team was able to get it under control quickly so you didn't have to suffer too long. After first try and no success with IV they should have called in the PICC team, but as long as they got you hydrated and medicated thats all that matters! Best Wishes for a speedy recovery!Sorry for late reply. Had surgery 1/13/14 Monday. Was drowsy and Painfree all day. Slept day away.
Yesterday - was horrible. Felt like death. Iv infiltrated. Was dehydrated and became a hard stick. Didn't have iv for hours. No meds! No Pain or nausea meds. Was vomiting bile and mucous continuously. Also hurt abdomen by vomiting. Couldn't keep down ice chips. Finally got 2 ivs by anesthesiologist after several ppl tried - got scopolamine patch and Toradol and zofran etc, felt like 200% better 2 hours later. Had visitors and was even walking by evening. Even could handle ice chips! Totally an isolated incident.
Today cream of wheat and juice. Burping a lot. Probably full after a few spoon Fulls? Have a headache though. Hopefully discharged later. :-)

Thanks rensterness and finally on my way. I am just having such a hard time emotionally, one thing goes right and five go wrong. I just went thru a bad break up and now I'm wondering who will be here for me if I do this on the 27th
stephg- I know exactly how you feel about the relationship issues..I am going through a rough time to but I have looked at it as the most positive thing that has happened to me. If I can rid myself of any toxic thing or person before my surgery it will only help me focus on myself. I have used this pain & struggle to see how I have accepted less than I deserve from relationships because I in all honesty have not loved myself for a long time due partially to my size. It's finally my time to focus on ME to get back to loving myself so I can open up my life space for the love I deserve! My hope is that you turn this negative into a great positive for YOU and your future! God Bless & best wishes

I read your entire post, twice and not for nothing, but it sounds to me like your still explaining away your decision...and to be honest you are making this decision for YOU & YOU alone. You dont have to explain anything to anyone as long as your comfortable with your decision. I haven't told many people about my surgery because for the first time in a very long time I am making a decision for myself! And I feel like I am the only person that has to be ok with "my" decision. So I say all that to say this...do you! In the south we have a saying "if you like it, I love it!" Best wishes to you on your upcoming surgery!

Thanks for the replies. Feels good to take this journey with others. I'm still very nauseas. Not burping up blood anymore, but all the liquids I take in come back up. Not sure if this is normal. Wondering how long until I can keep something down.
Congrats on your surgery...praying it gets easier for you. I'm still preop so I have no reference for your symptoms, but my surgeon says vomiting is NOT normal, but if your in hospital still hopefullly it will get better soon

I was back at work in 10 days, but I've read several posts about being back at work after only 3 or 4 days.
Liked the video...

I took 4 weeks off. The doctors stressed that I shouldn't rush back. I had the PS time, so why not? Not only am I focusing on healing physically, but I'm growing with my sleeve emotionally and mentally. I'm also adjusting to eating and drinking differently.
You are blessed to have that much time! Glad to hear all is going well for you! It's wonderful to not feel rushed & to have time to learn your new body

Same here..I've learned to eat smaller bites, chew more & take more time in between bites. No pain since making that adjustment. Was sleeved 1/20/14.
