Wow! Good job. here is my favorite Sparkpeople.com article about what things weigh. Can you imagine wearing a newborn colt for a belt and another one for a tie and a ten pound bag of potatoes on your back......oh and yeah - a pineapple in your pocket?????

I don't let it bother me. I will encourage anybody I can. But those trolls who get on here with fake stuff like eating steak at one week so I don't need all of those phases and rules......geeze, that is my crazymaker.

It will be either the nine slowest or the nine fastest days in your life. Here's wishing you an uncomplicated recovery.

  7. The struggle is real when it comes to lose weight..

You are absolutely right. I have never been so focus and determined as I have been in my whole life. Struggling to be successful with this weight loss takes a one-track mind.

Once I was sick with the flu coming out both ends for three days - couldn't eat - gained two pounds! Hang in there and carry on. Your body will get the idea sooner or later.

  11. It's a heart-crushing feeling when you're told that your knee is almost certainly going to prevent you from running... ever again. There goals one of the biggest exercise goals I was looking forward to. D:

I bought a recumbent bike / elliptical because of knee and balance issues. I get the legwork without the impact on my joints.

Think of your surgery as a nice nap, and when you wake up, you get to re-invent yourself!

  16. I gained 10 lbs and have not eaten anywhere near the amount to gain wth?

When I had to go back on Lyrica for a neuropathy that flared up, I gained ten pounds in two weeks and would have kept on gaining if I had not decided to "tough out" the pain until I could get to the Pain Clinic. I has taken me most of two months to lose those ten pounds. I will frequently gain two or three pounds overnight on 800 - 1000 calories a day and have to work like the dickens to get it back off.

I have found this approach helpful during times when I was "between jobs." Volunteer part-time at a nursing home, shelter, Meals on Wheels, animal hospital, Habitat for Humanity - something like that, for three reasons. 1) You will make a difference in someone's life. 2) It will get your mind off of your own predicament for part of the day, 3) Volunteering is what I call "resume bait". It helps prevent a gap in your resume, plus shows that you like to keep busy and productive, and shows that you are versatile. I wish you the best. Here is a hug from Chicago.

  20. After sustaining a concussion back in May and still having some effects, I chose a driving eval for safety's sake. I wow'd the evaluator, who was also aware I hadn't driven in 18 years -- for no particular reason. I'm back in the saddle, so take cover!

  21. OMG! I have to have gallbladder surgery now!

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

You won't miss it. I had mine out in 1973 back when they still cut you half in two. I was in the hospital eleven days. Now they do it laparascopically, and under some circumstances is done in an outpatient facility. The only thing I noticed differently was - no more pain.

  22. Rats. Hubby said maybe it was time for a new PC so I could play newest games after surgery--then I managed to get FO4 to run on my old one. No new computer for me. What was I thinking? ;D

  23. Junk food is winning this body battle lately!

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

You could think of your body as a machine which needs appropriate fuel to run. You would not put apple juice in your car's gas tank and expect it to run. Your body is a container for the spiritual you - your personality. It isn't made to function on Twinkies, Potato Chips and Pepsi. One concept that really helps me is to avoid eating anything made in a factory. You have done well so far. Winston Churchill said "when you are going through Hell - keep going."

  24. Yeah! Feeling better today. As many of you know I had more back surgery on Monday. It was a terribly rough couple of days but I think I am out on the other side now. Let's hope anyway! Going to get to shower today!

I am so glad to hear that. My neurosurgeon has been putting off fusion on L5-S1 for several years. Right now we are doing nerve ablations every few months, but that stimulator that you just had removed would be the next step for me. Get well soon, kiddo.....I am looking to you for inspiration.
