The only time I have had that problem is when I have to reboot my computer after an update and have gotten involuntarily logged out. Once I log back in, I can post and reply as usual.

I started out with a limit of 1/3 cup plus one tablespoon. Most often, I could not even finish that.

Once I did not weigh for a month, at the docs suggestion, and gained ten pounds. I now weigh every day so I can stay ahead of the game.

  8. I have to do my annual review at work today. what can I say? I come in every day and do whatever you need me to do the best I can. I hate my job. that is all. ugh.

I used to call it, "The annual ambush" because no matter how stellar and employee you are, most bosses have to down-rate you on something to keep from having to give you a raise. It sucks. Just tell the truth and run.

  10. So i only lost maybe 3 pounds since surgery on april 21st is this normal

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

That's 24 days....and I dare say not so normal. have you seen your bariatric team for follow-up? Eating too many carbs in your soft phase may slow you down (bananas, pudding, noodle, mashed potatoes, etc). You definitely need to reach out to your professional team. If the family is sabotaging you, tell the to Knock it off.

  11. So I had surgery almost two years ago. Everything was going good until Nov 2015 and I stared to gain wait. No matter what I do I can't seem to lose it. I know that I still can't eat a whole lot. I can't work out like I need to b/c of my back. I am going to be getting the Spinal Cord simulator, so because of that I can't work out. but I haven't worked out from day one. So what has changed!? Nothing. I I don't want to get big again!

I am getting a stimulator implant later this month. I am just waiting for insurance approval for the five-day trial. Yeah, stagnant weight or a gain is my concern too, but I have resigned myself to the fact that at least the protein will help me heal faster. Since summer is nearly here, I will be able to walk outside more. I wish you the best.

  12. Last night I tried to dye my teal hair brown... but the shade was just a smidge too light. My hair is puke green today.

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

I feel ya. I have been dying my hair reddish-blonde for twenty years, trying to keep ahead of natural red going old lady white. Last time, I tried a darker shade of red since the white is not taking color anymore. Well, it was tooooo red, so I went with a blonde color closer to the shade of my eyebrows. Some went blonde, some stayed white, and large streaks went PINK. Oddly though, I don't hate it.

  14. Riddle me this... At what age does one become too old to have a 'girlfriend'?

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

I'm 64 and he refers to me as his girlfriend. He is 65 and I refer to him as my boyfriend, gentleman friend, or "Um-Friend" It depends on who is asking.

The term "Um-friend" is for when I don't feel like I have to define the relationship at all. We are together 10 years now. For the Nosy Nellies, he is my ummmmmmmm-friend.

  15. I had a stupid dream that I had my sleeve done and I came home with no pain at all and started eating cooking. I was so upset in the dream!! AHHH bad night :( lol

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

Well, the "no pain" part isn't so bad. My first couple of post-op days were pretty lousy, but after that it was just a matter of working my way through the meal progressions.

Once you get to the puree stage, you can introduce familiar flavors, just not anything with bits or hot spices. Take your lean meat and and veggies, run it through the blender and strain it. I even had pot roast this way. Baby food was horrid. I don't see how babies eat it.

  17. My fiance is getting sleeved on March 2nd - I'm looking to connect with any spouses like me, especially those responsible for the family meals. It's not as easy as I'd thought to find really good resources for spouses.

How sweet that he has a supportive angel on his side. His bariatric team should provide him with solid info. The post-op diet goes through five stages: Clear liquids, full liquids, purees, soft foods, and regular cooked foods. The Mayo Clinic gives a good example of what most of us follow in some similar

      form.

  18. This Broth is nasty af!

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

Make your own. Bake a chicken. Save the meat for something else. Take the carcass with the meat bits still on it, and simmerl it in 2 quarts of water along with a couple of carrots and celery stalks and an onion chopped up - for a couple of hours and then season it how you like it. Save the veggies for something else. Store bought broth sucks.

  19. So on January 6th I had my surgery. I am down 22 pounds, but I find myself obsessed with the scale. For the past three days he has not moved in either direction. I find myself getting frustrated and I want to know how others have handled this craziness. Thanks!

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

You will get a varied opinion on this. My doctor told me to put my away for a month. I did and gained ten pounds. So, I am one of those people whose needs that daily info to keep me in line, even if I have a string of days where the numbers are static.

  20. I was sleeved January 6th. I am still really tired. My starting weight was 216 (day of surgery). I weighed myself this morning and I am 196--which is so crazy to me. I am still really tired, on pureed foods--so hummus, cottage cheese, plain NF yogurt etc. I feel so free in the sense that I am not constantly thinking about food--but also a bit sluggish. It's amazing. I can't wait to go swimming--one more week.

I had the strength of a soggy kleenex until I got on cooked foods. Then I began to get some energy and feel better.

      Miss Mac

I feel ya. The tech that did my final pre-op EKG said, "You aren't big enough for bariatric surgery."

I told her to call the doctor and tell him that she disagrees with his diagnosis. That shut her up. Geeze, I am 5'4 and my spine was collapsing under my weight.

  23. tuesday I go for some more test and wednesday is surgery so confused though not told only liquids or anything other just no blood thinners for 5 days or nothing to eat after 7 pm tuesday just kind of wonder if anyone else has gone through this the way i was told also wonder what new test they are looking for last week I had a lot more done

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

Count your blessings if you don't have to do a prolonged liquid diet. I would guess that the doctor thinks your liver is in good enough shape that he won't have any complications getting around it. No food or water a few hours prior to surgery is common.
