I'm also a diabetic. I have chose to have the sleeve procedure (8/28) because I don't want the resection of the bowel and I don't want the "extra" parts floating around in my abdominal area forever. My surgeon has assured me that I will still have success with resolving my diabetes and cholesterol & blood pressure issues just as I would if I chose bypass. I also chose sleeve because of the decreased trauma and time away from work
