becslivinlife got a reaction from Dee White in August 2013 Roll Call
I had surgery on 8/26 and have lost 27 since surgery...so not as fast as some but I think it's OK. I also feel like I can eat a lot more than some people describe. Usually I start out my day with a smoothie that has 27 g of Protein. After that it varies but I usually will eat three meals after that and one is usually another smoothie or muscle milk. Otherwise I am able to eat two eggs, 2-3 oz of meat with a vegetable, salad plate full of salad with 2 oz of deli meat turkey...
I hope that helps. I have found that I tend to lose more the more Water I drink as well.

I'm pretty sure I was the biggest person here so far...
Surgery date: 8/26/13
Heaviest Weight: 657lbs (9/20/12)
Surgery weight: 406lbs
Current weight: 386lbs
I am one week down on puree (2 weeks to go), eating around 600-800 calories, including 2 Protein shakes. I use Bariatric fusion mixed with fat-free Lactaid. I also like Muscle Milk on the go. Usually I eat 1/4-1/2 cup scrambled eggs, 1/4 cup greek yogurt, Gerber Lil' Crunchies, Healthy Choice 100 calorie greek frozen yogurt cups, sometimes some sugar-free pudding. and at least 32oz of Crystal Light. I am DYING for some chicken salad in 2 weeks!! :-)

becslivinlife reacted to momrox in Breakfast Ideas Post Op
Someone on one of the forums posted this idea and I tried it this weekend and it is incredible. Mash up a banana, the riper the better in a bowl. Add a couple of eggs and some fat free milk and whisk it like you were making scrambled eggs. I heated some coconut oil in a pan and put a ladle full of the mixture in and they come out like crepes! So good, sweet enough to eat alone, but I put some cottage cheese and sugar free jam on top and it was absolutely yummy! Sort of like a cheese blintz!

I am 4 days post op and having a very hard time getting my liquids in. I have to take small sips and space them out or I get dry heaves. Anyone else having similar issues? I don't want to end up getting dehydrated!

becslivinlife got a reaction from PrettyPuffy in Federal BCBS...no approval required letter?!
Well, its true. I do not need preauthorization. Of course, they won't cover me if I haven't meet the requirements listed in the plan brochure. The hospital does the precertification the morning of surgery, so I am all set! My surgeon had an opening next Monday for some reason so I am on for 8/26!!

becslivinlife got a reaction from Jerzygurl in Federal BCBS...no approval required letter?!
I got a letter in the mail saying that fepblue no longer requires prior approval for vsg in patient procedures (after the office submitted for approval!). This is not what I have heard from others! When I went back and read the handbook it doesn't exactly say you need preauthorization, only that you need to meet the BMI, Psych Eval, three month nutritional requirements to be covered. It does, however, say that for any inpatient procedure you need precertification. Isn't this just notifying them of the procedure before you go in? Has anyone else had this experience? I don't know whether to rejoice or cry (if there is something else that needs to be done)! Calling the surgeon's office first thing tomorrow!!!

becslivinlife got a reaction from belladona in The waiting game...
I began thinking about surgery (again) in April this past year. I have PCOS and have struggled with my weight since my late teens. I spent many years on and off on WW (lose, get pregnant, have baby, gain, go back to WW (repeat 3x!)). I went to the "informational" meeting the beginning of June and have submitted everything to my insurance (Federal BCBS). Waiting to hear from the insurance has been more difficult than I imagined! I am so ready for this. I am sick of feeling like food rules my life and feeling like a bystander in my own life. I know this isn't going to be easy, but I am ready!
