My insurance required weekly classes for 3 months. The time flew by and I made a couple of new friends.

I went through my closet yesterday. I'm not going to have a lot to wear next winter.
You'll need a whole new wardrobe next winter!

Good for you Branmuffin!

No color for 6 months?!?!?!?!?!? Is that only for RNY patients? My boss has RNY a year ago and her hair is not looking good.
I have already colored my hair and I'm almost 3 months out. If you're going to color Branmuffin make sure you condition your hair well. I'd suggest a "hard" Protein treatment 2 weeks after...like an Aphogee treatment followed with a good moisturizer. Ask your stylist about it.

Squats will not make your butt smaller. In fact, if anything they will make it bigger and better shaped. Spot reduction is a myth. Working leg and butt muscles is a key to overall strength and losing fat.
To those who say putting on muscle makes you stop losing weight, maybe, but it does not make you stop losing fat. It makes you better able to get rid of fat and keep it off. Don't worry about being too muscular!
Serve your body, not your scale!
edit:
Some natural bodybuilders, no steroids, figure division.
You have to work real hard in workouts and dieting to even look this muscular.
In shape ladies look better.
Work it, ladies!
Thanks Gmanbat...I don't want is to be smaller. I'm doing squats to make sure it's more rounded and not flat.

R u sure u can drink a shake the day of surgery .? Why fast the night before if u can have a shake that morning. I would call the dr to make sure. They will ask you if u had anything to drink or eat that a.m. I def was told no liquid or solids the day of surgery. Just check to make sure. Don't want doc to say you can't have surgery .on your scheduled surgery day.
Carlotta I was totally thinking that too! Why would you have to fast the night before and be allowed a shake in the morning?? I would be bummed if I showed up for my surgery and it did not happen because of a miscommunication.

Blondiee, thx for your reply, I really appreciate it. Have you been released to workout yet?
Yes, I was cleared to work out at my 6 week check up. I do cardio 5X a week....either my treadmill or elliptical and I just started the 30 squat challenge( the easy one)!
What's the 30 squat challenge??? If I lose any more weight in my ass I won't have one! I gotta build some cheeks!!!
Yes indeed! I don't want to have a flat rear end after I'm done losing this weight...uh uh!!!
I don't know how to post an image here or I'd provide the chart for the 30 day squat challenge. Basically you do a set number of squats per day and work your way up to 175 at the end of 30 days.
Day 1 - 30 squats
Day 2 - 50 squats
Day 3 - 75 squats
Day 4 - 60 squats
Day 5 - rest
Google it and lot's of images/charts will come up showing you how many and how to proceed.

You're welcome and have a Happy Birthday!!!!

my NUT wants me to try and get 1 cup of pureed in daily divided into 1/4 c servings--initially, I could only get 2-3 small spoonfuls down. I am on pureed for a week and then I think it is soft foods. She said if I wanted, this was the time to have some mashed potatoes but I declined, as I have essentially been off white carbs for 6 weeks. I usually eat refried Beans mixed with enchilada sauce and a bit of melted cheese, there is a ricotta bake recipe that is TODIEFOR...website is here:

Good luck and check in with your nutritionist if you have concerns or questions-that is what they are there for good luck!
YES!! That baked ricotta recipe is delicious!!

You will get varying answers to your question because every surgeon doesn't have the same rules and/or guidelines. What does your surgeon or NUT advise?
I will say the I was not allowed flounder during my puree stage. I stuck mainly with Protein shakes, strained cream Soups and Water. I chose not to have slider foods like mashed potatoes because it's a slippery slope for me.
I agree with lsuchick. If you eat your Protein first there's really no room for anything else at this stage.

Reaching my goal weight of 135 lbs is important to me. Being overweight all my life I want to know what my 5'2 frame will look like at that weight. The lowest I've reached was 185 on WW.

Blondiee,
Thanks, I need to supplement during the day with a Protein shake for sure.
As far as the "whites" flour,sugar,rice.....I decided pre-op these items will never be apart of my life again, for many reasons but mostly bc I'm a chronic daily Migraine sufferer and these items cause inflammation in the body which in turn cause Migraines. I haven't had them since my pre-op diet and I feel amazing-no migraines, which is HUGE for me, so they will never be apart of my life again along with gluten. Now potatoes on the other hand, I enjoy and don't have a problem with, I think in moderation (we maybe eat potatoes once a month) are ok and my moderation is about 2 bites that's just me though, to each their own
Exactly...do what works for you!
