Hey Caligirl3,
Fingers crossed that you won't have to wait that long! I can totally relate with you because I have NO patience either.

Hello Fellow December Sleevers!
Is everyone here going through insurance or are there any self-paying sleevers? I will be in MX during the first week of December (still finalizing my choice of surgeon and therefore date).
Hi Healthbound-
I'll be using my insurance (Kaiser So Cal) for this procedure. My co-pay will be $250.00. Have you narrowed down your surgeons to just a couple? Which doctor does your gut say to pick?

I added skinnynewbecky2014, Mfs and Blondiee to the list! So exciting to see so many people for our month!
Thanks!

Is anyone taking Vitamins and supplements now? I began taking a Multivitamin and Biotin a month ago.
I started taking a multivitamin in June and Vitamin D (50000IU) prescription weekly in August when my labs came back.

Hi
I'm new to this group and my surgery is scheduled for December 5th! I started my journey in May 2013 by asking my PCP for a referral to Kaiser's (Southern CA) Options program. I completed the Options classes (3 months) on 9/26, met with the surgeon on 10/15 and now have my surgery date.
I'm excited that there are so many of us already scheduled for December...it does seem too far away.

Hi
My surgery is scheduled for December 5th!!! My doctor does not require a pre-op diet but I'll be doing a self imposed diet from now until surgery...a shake for Breakfast and lunch and a lean + green diet.
Thanks AtlantaRed for pointing out this group to me.

My surgery has been scheduled for December 5th and I'm ready! I just wish when the doctor said his surgeries were being scheduled 3-4 weeks out that he actually knew what he was talking about. More like 6 weeks out...I had my hopes set on having it in November.
The bright side of this is that I'll have the whole month of December off and maybe the first week of January. *fingers crossed*
Anyone else have a date in December?

I can't wait to wear something just because I like the style! With no worries about how my body will look from a side angle.
I want to wear a leather shift dress and be chic!!!!

How about maybe starting a group instead of using a thread? Just my 2 cents
I'm not sure if ATLGirl is still posting in this thread since it's from 2011 but, I wanted to let you all know there IS a African American Group. Just look under Community and then Social Groups.

You look beautiful and I love your dress!

I guess what Im really afraid of is getting through the whole program and getting denied...does anyone know if that happens a lot?

If you were accepted into the Options program you qualify for the surgery and are not going to be denied. I hope that helps to put your mind at ease.
My journey through the Kaiser process has been pretty straight forward ( see my signature). You should maybe call the Health Education department about upcoming Options classes. Please feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

My insurance (Kaiser CA) required a 3 month program called Options. I didn't want to go... I also didn't want to pay for this surgery if I didn't have to. What requirements does your insurance have?
I wish you the best in whatever decision you make!

I think you look fantastic girl! Keep going until you feel comfortable; what everyone else thinks does not matter.
