  1. That is awesome Odessallen!!! I'm still doing a Protein shake in the morning. I think having a variety of Protein Shakes helps so I won't get bored...cookies and cream one day and vanilla cheesecake the next! I haven't really been interested in eating which is a HUGE plus! I did have some grilled salmon this week that was heavenly!!! Basically just sticking to Soups (egg drop has been my fave) with a scoop on unflavored unjury Protein powder and lean protein. I was a volume eater before surgery and only being able to have 5-8 bites is good but, I no longer look forward to eating. I know that's a good thing.
  2. Good job! My scale was stuck for a couple of weeks as well but I just kept to the program. You/we know that the weight will come off and the body is just doing some readjusting.
  3. This site helped my immensely during my wait. Read and absorb all the information you can from the BTDT vets on here. Also, looking at before and after pictures on the web. With my insurance, once you're approved for the Bariatric program they use the weight that qualified you. So if you lost weight during the course of the program it would not disqualify you.

    first taste of food

When I was approved for full liquids I made some egg drop Soup. It tasted like heaven!!!! Glad you're feeling better now and that you didn't lose your lunch. I have a fear of throwing up and I think that has kept me from "testing" the limits of my stomach...not saying that's what you did.

    something to celebrate!

    Good for you!
  6. I didn't want ANY feedback about my decision to have WLS...good or bad. That's why I only told my HR Rep and my supervisor who had RNY last year.
  7. My LO was 2 years old and about 30 pounds when I had surgery. To be honest, I did pick him up a couple of times.

    Something is wrong you guys!

I had my surgery on 12/5 and I'm about the same as you but, I haven't tried eating any fruit yet. My doctor recommends protein first, veggies and then starches if there's room left.
  11. I did half-calf for one week along with Advil. Then decaf the next week. I did this about 2-3 months before surgery I think...can't remember exactly when.

    No drain tube after VSG?

Same for me! What Kaiser facility did you have your surgery? I had mine done at Kaiser in West L.A. and it was a great experience...minus the gas I had.
  13. Do you wait 30 minutes after drinking a Protein shake to drink any other liquids? Just sent an email to my NUT but I'm curious what others do. Thanks for your input.
  14. Wow! Only 3 minutes to drink your Premier protein shake??? I start drinking mine on the way to work (in Los Angeles traffic) and still don't finish by the time I get to the office.
  15. I have to agree with your friend. If we are dating seriously and there's long term potential, I'd discuss it with him. If we're just dating...NO.

    Before and After

You look fantastic! Congratulations on your weight loss...only 15 more pounds until you reach your goal!!!
  17. I am aware and happy of the new restrictions, I am Just looking forward to not having to drink Protein shakes, I really dislike them (all flavors) I can hopefully replace them soon, I'll have to check with my doctor and I Cannot wait to be able to at least get out of the liquid phase. Oh...I guess I should have mentioned that I still have a Protein shake for Breakfast. Since I still can't eat much, I like to start the day off with 30 grams of protein.

How Do You Beat the Cold?

I'm a Californian! I turn up the heat, start a fire in the fireplace and add an extra blanket to the beds.
  19. You look great! I can't wait to be four months out...hoping to have results like yours!
  20. I'm almost 2 months out and had my first real meal out yesterday. I ordered the kids meal grilled salmon and steamed broccoli from Woodranch @ The Grove. That small portion was way too much food. I had it for lunch and dinner and still didn't finish all of it. This restriction is real and great!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I do get that full feeling after about 5-8 bites. What has your NUT said about your issues with solid food?
  22. Thank you all for your comments. I'm with you both Busymomof3 and NMJG...I'm typically not hungry after a Protein shake but I still try to sip to get in a some fluids.
