Dr Fernando Garcia - my experience
kltklass replied to BackToHot's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When I went to the Marriott, the staff were very friendly and helpful. A few asked me if I was there for "the surgery", to which I replied yes. Their response was good for you... come back and show us when you get healthy! I felt very comfortable and not self-conscience. I too went to Dr. Garcia and had the same care and great experience. No regrets! Congrats on your successful surgery. -
When will my FUPA go away?
kltklass replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"FUPA," for those who may not know, stands for "fat upper penile/pubic area." It's a slang term that is used to refer to the adipose (fat) tissue that resides in the pelvic region of the body. I had to look it up....lol -
When will my FUPA go away?
kltklass replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FUPA? Are you are talking about your panniculus or apron (belly fat that hangs down in front our you personal parts)? Yes it will start to diminish, however, how long it takes to go away depends on your body. Mine has gotten a lot smaller (i am 9 months out). I would not recommend having it surgically removed until you reach your goal weight. In fact, I don't recommend any plastic surgery before your body has a chance acclimatize to your new weight loss, mainly because your skin will shrink some. Unfortunately, it will not completely return to it's former firm self. My trainer told me building up my core will help with burning fat from this area. Crunches, planks, and toe touches (among other exercises) are some of the abuse she puts me through 3 times a week. Good luck to you and take care. Kelly -
Unfortunately, you didn't include a lot of information in your post. What kind of WLS did you have? What is your Protein and Fluid intake? Are you over eating or eating the wrong things? What about exercise? I would call your surgeon/Dr. and discuss your best options. Hopefully, they can give you better ideas as they know you better than I do. Good luck to you and keep us informed. Hola! Orale! Seems Mexico is my option
kltklass replied to Travelmego's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Mexico and used Dr. Garcia. I can't help you with your choice in doctors, however, I can tell you I loved my care coordinator, alma. She made everything really easy. This was the best thing I ever did. Good luck to you. -
Same..196. I think I have too much stress in my life. Sigh. I know it will get better eventually.

Go to the emergency room! It is better to be safe than sorry. Keep us informed on your situation. Good luck!

I am sorry for the problems you and your daughter are experiencing. Not everyone who has surgery in Mexico has problems. I know this doesn't make you feel better. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

kltklass replied to lovelylady530's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used Dr. Garcia at Ready4aChange in August 2013. I am very happy with the doctor and his staff. I will PM you with my details. Good luck to you. -
Gained a lb. 196. This week has been really stressful and the rest of the month is going to be the same. It is the end of the semester and I have tons of homework. I am looking forward to May 2nd and summer break (month off!!).

Sleeve versus bypass. Want all feedback
kltklass replied to meledl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Everyone is different and will have different opinions on which surgery is the best option. What it all boils down to is what works for you. That being said, Have you spoken with your surgeon to discuss what is best for you and what will meet your needs? I love my sleeve, it works well for me. Good luck to you in making your decision. -

kltklass replied to Jessiegirl30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Walk, walk and walk some more. Walk from the couch to the bathroom, bed to the couch etc.. Walking it the only sure way of moving the gas. I'm glad you are feeling well and your surgery was a success. Welcome to the losers bench. -

kltklass replied to Fiddleman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be visiting my sister in Snohomish on Memorial Day weekend, maybe we can have a get together with other WLS people from the area. Are you and your wife/partner interested in meeting for coffee? -

Good article. Where in WA do you live? I live in the Tri-Cities (East side of the mountains). -
The brain is a powerful thing.
kltklass replied to AuntieLala83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like the diet mentality is kicking in. Sometimes it is difficult to change your thoughts after all the misc crud we have picked up over the years. Remember this is a life change not a diet. As long as you are following your doctor's plan, you are doing fine. Changing your thoughts will probably be more difficult. Deep breathing and self talk help me through those errant thoughts. Good luck to you on your new journey. You can and will do this! -
How to handle this...instead of gorging myself with food
kltklass replied to Wires's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Take a break and go walking, maybe do some deep breathing. You got this...no need to binge...you got this!!! -
Welcome to the site. There is loads of information to be learned here. If there is a specific topic you are interested in you can go to the search bar and type in the topic. Use the down arrow and click forum, then the magnifying glass. This will help you avoid duplicate posts. Congrats on making the decision to change your life for the better. I had the sleeve last August and not looked back once...No regrets! Good luck to you on your journey and keep us informed.

Too many lows! I am going nuts!
kltklass replied to Teachamy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Amy, My mom is a very brittle type 2 diabetic and uses the insulin pump. She has lost enough weight (non-surgery) that it is interfering with her insulin needs. She has gone from 300 units a day to 100 units. She too wakes up with 30's in the middle of the night. Her diabetic educator has cut her basils (spelling?) and boules levels. Do you keep glucose tabs handy for when you have super lows? Mamma has recently started exercising which causes her blood levels to drop, so her educator has had her stop the pump during exercise. Any bolus is delivered over an hour to keep her from going to low. I too was a type 2 diabetic until my surgery, which has corrected the problem. In fact my A1c went from 7 to 5.5 (yea!!) This surgery has been a blessing and I hope you feel this way too. Please keep in touch with your educator and make the changes needed to keep you healthy. Congrats on your surgery and your continued weight loss. -
LOL...awesome!

Before surgery I had to buy a bigger size shoe because of fat feet and the fact that they swell. Now I notice my feet swim in my shoes, even lace ups. Hopefully, I can last till the end of May when I can go shopping in the Seattle area (more stores to choose from). I think I will have someone measure my feet before I buy any more shoes, just in case they really are smaller (and not wishful thinking).
