Something interesting about all the profile pics

I kinda like it Laura. You look good in both, but you were smiling in the old one. wish there was some kind of way to have a composite profile pic (then vs. now) or (face vs full body)

BCBS Fed Basic - 30% Drug Charges?

I have BCBS federal (TN) and paid $300 for my surgery and hospital stay Period. And I was hospitalized for 2 days on 8/19. Just make sure that everyone you deal with (anesthesiologist, ect) are in the network. I was soo afraid I'd be hit with some sort of astronomical drug bill and I couldn't rest easy until I saw my EOB!

    The skinny on $$$

I paid 300 for my hospital stay. And about 275-300 in co-pays for everything else. I have BCBS federal

    A big disappointment.

You can do a video blog and chronicle it on youtube. That's what I'm doing. I don't know much about computers but do know how to work my camera phone lol. Best of luck to you.

2 months post op down 85 lbs.. pics inside

You are working that sleeve like nobody's business. At the rate you're going, you'll be in one of those tight muscle shirts next. Side note: did you tell friends and co-workers about your procedure? What had been their reaction?

    Fitbit friends?

I got a gently used fitbit flex on ebay for $55 including shipping. I plan on setting it up this week (clearly I have no friends) and have been wondering how I will handle that. Will definitely add you all

    August Sleevers?

I think we (myself included) need to take a step back and stop stressing. I know that we are in this together, but I've found myself worrying over a stall, comparing my progress post op to others with surgery dates near mine, and at times wondering if I will be one of those people that the procedure didn't work for. If you are anything like me, I spent YEARS lamenting over my insignificant weight loss or significant weight gains. Now I have a tool that in three weeks has worked better than an entire year of weight watchers, and yet I'm all chicken-little-the-sky-is-falling because I'm not losing FAST enough?? Admittedly, patience is not my strong point. When I thought about it in those terms, I felt like I was poo-poo'ing all of the amazing progress I've demonstrated so far. Seriously, when have I EVER LOST 30 pounds in two months? So if I'm stalling right now, so be it. I know my weight loss will come.

    Snacks and Work Lunch Ideas

I take a small container of chicken salad and keep it in the office refrigerator. I have a little bit of that on 1-2 pieces wasa light n'crisp. Otherwise quest bars get me by ( especially the white chocolate raspberry)

    Playing the waiting game!

About a week, but from day five onward I called EVERY day. I figured they'd get tired of me calling and move me up the pile lol

    Discouraged :(

I'm 3 weeks and two days out and have lost 16 pounds thus far. I weighed 248 on the date of surgery. I too was concerned about my rate of loss in comparison to others, but I'm grateful that the scale is moving in the RIGHT direction, albeit slower than I'd like. You hear about the dreaded three week stall all over the place, and I figure that it'll all work itself out as long as I keep doing the right things. You got this!

Is there *really* a honeymoon period?

I was told that there is a "window of opportunity" of about 18 months or so after surgery to maximize weight loss. I am very much a newbie, but would appreciate some veteran insight.

    3 week update

I'm 3 weeks out as well and determined to not let this stall get me down. Hopefully a return to Zumba (without hand weights) will kick start something. I've only been walking until now.

Did anyone ask for their stomach to take home?

I wanted to ask for a picture of mine but was too scared to ask. I had to settle for a pathology report describing how big it was.

    African American Sleevers

Maybe it does depend on your BcBS policy (I'm BCBS Federal). Ours will only cover a panniculectomy, not a tummy tuck. In fact, the standard BC/BS policies specifically exclude abdominoplasty and identifies abdiminioplasty as a contract exclusion as it is always cosmetic, not functional. Maybe your company paid more to add cosmetic procedures to it or the policy changed recently? I haven't had any skin issues yet, but if they occur, they will certainly be well documented with my doctor! Best of luck to ya!
