Hello MGBG'ers!
It's been awhile since I've posted - sorry! Things are going great! I'm down 51 pounds!
Here's a recent picture (please excuse the messy bedroom!)
If you want, please post your progress pics as well!

I have a large family, there are 7 of us total. I've always been the cook of the house. My children range from 16-25. My surgery was on March 19th and I had the whole crew ready to be on their own in the kitchen for at least a month. They even had partners and meal plans all picked out. I got home from the hospital on the 21st and by the 23rd I was back in the kitchen cooking full meals. I think I was looking for some degree of normalcy. Even though I couldn't eat -there was something about watching others enjoy eating that I enjoyed. The kids and husband helped me with cooking and still did the clean-up for about a month because my stamina wasn't the greatest and dishes were terrible because of where my incisions landed on the counter. I even made a huge Easter dinner on April 1st that I could have never predicted being ready for. I really enjoyed spending the extra time in the kitchen with the kids too. I would teach them how to cook their favorite meal so it really turned into a nice bonding experience.

Wow Diane1! YOU ROCK! We had 7 in our family back in the day. I did have some good intentions to cook. I had my sleeve done on March 30, I went home on the 31st. April 2nd, my daughter and her best friend came down with the kids for spring break. I had made a pot of sauce and meatballs because my 10yr old grandson and his best friend (the son of my daughter's best friend) loves, loves, loves them. They went grocery shopping and bought paper plates, bowls, everything but the silverware. My husband was off for 3 more days to be with me so soon after surgery. I took it easy and even went to the beach 4 days after my surg. I feel great. I have bursts of energy to get a few things done. I hope you're feeling great too!

Good Morning MGBGers!
I just passed 4 weeks post-op and can now start incorporating more strenuous exercise into my routine! This weekend, my family and I went on a 5 mile bike ride and a 3 mile walk. It felt good, although I was tired that evening.
I also started taking Calcium with Vitamin D along with my standing regimen of Protonix, Multivitamins, and Vitamin B. food intake has been progressing nicely. I've yet to experience any regurgitation or vomiting - though I did struggle one morning when I think I forgot to chew slowly and was only able to take a couple of bites of scrambled eggs before I felt stuffed.
I am waiting for 30 days post-op to take a new photo - figure I'll do it at 30, 60, 90, 120, etc - to represent a true month's worth of losing. I kept the same outfit I took before pictures in so I'm looking forward to seeing changes.
In overall weight loss, I'm down 34 pounds. In sizes, I was previously in a size 20 and now can fit comfortably into a size 14. I actually shopped in a "regular store" and was able to purchase some large sweats/t-shirts and they fit comfortably. So changes are happening all over my body. I can now put on my husband's shirts (Men's large) and they look cute - loose and comfy - and he no longer gets upset because I no longer stretch them out - now he likes me to wear them...
My shoe size has gone down 1/2 size. Was in an 8 at SW and now in a 7.5. I used to wear a 7, so it will be interesting to see if I get back to that size or if 7.5 is sufficient.
My incision scars are looking much better - I've finally gotten rid of all of the tape residue and with my decreasing belly size, they are disappearing before my eyes
People are definitely starting to notice and make comments. And while this can put me in an uncomfortable head space - I'm learning to smile and say thank you and not over analyze hidden agendas or intentions (particularly with men).
I'm averaging 450-550 calories per day, 30-40g Protein and around 40 net carbs. My sugars are typically below 10 and I'm meeting my 64oz of Water intake per day.
Calling all March Gastric Bypass Peeps - How are you doing?

I had one incision that was hurting since I woke up from surgery. The doctor said they stitched a nerve and out would work itself out which it did, thank goodness. I took long warm showers and let the Water run over the stitch sight and the muscles in my stomach loosened up. This made the pain much more tolerable. I also used a heating pad which also worked. Hope you feel better soon!!

Everyone I know had either had bypass or sleeve done. I too had to watch so I could make an informed decision. My sister had bypass and my niece the sleeve done by the doctors I'm using for my bypass.. I think my nerves are good because I really trust the doctors after watching their experience with them. I hope all goes well for you on Monday. I don't have a time for surgery yet but they are suppose to call me today for that. Can't wait to be on the other side of this!!

diane1 got a reaction from rodeomom969 in Any April 28th Sleevers out there; need to connect!
I just got scheduled for April 22nd and I was expecting to be super excited, instead I am freaking out and second guessing my decision. I am up all night worried, can't sleep, nauseated, I can't seem to find any peace. I tried writing everything down and just want to get it off my head! I've tried watching the videos on youtube that originally inspired me but nothing seems to be working. I feel like they dragged this out way to long and it lost all its excitement about a month ago. I started my journey in June last year and was expecting a December-January date but they dragged it out so long that it lost its excitement. April is a terrible month for me because my family celebrates three birthdays this month and I will be in the hospital for my son's 17 th birthday. And six days out on my birthday. Maybe I'm self sabotaging. Nothing seems to be making feel better. But the thought of cancelling really bothers me too. I will be so disappointed if I can't get myself under control and go through with this.

diane1 got a reaction from Flutterfly19 in I can't even imagine what it would be like...
I'm still pre-op but have a lot of the same fears. But what I do know is that I am surrounded by people that have had a lot of success with WLS and they seem to just have a better relationship with food in general. We still have girls days together where we all cook and they are still able to enjoy these days it seems. It almost seems a little easier for them for some reason. My sister who was a serious dieter her whole life started watching food network only after she had the surgery because she no longer worried about her relationship with food. She said it felt freeing to her. I'm glad to have so many successful wls friends and family around me because I have been able to make a very informed decision and I am not so scared that this is the end of everything normal.

diane1 got a reaction from LindafromFlorida in My story! So excited! Yet so scared!
Thank you Linda, I decided to start taking care of myself and put myself first in June of 2013. My family has been handling my small changes so far like champs. I'm trying to get the kids more responsible in the kitchen. I'm assuming I will be missed there for a while. My husband has been great too. I think he will have the hardest time out of everyone!. Can't wait till I'm on the losing bench with you!
