  1. I am so confused. I am scheduled to get sleeve surgery on May 30th and I am scared. I have knee and ankle pain that is probably due to me being overweight my entire life but other than that my health is pretty good. I am 53 years old 5’3” and my current weight is 233. My brain is racing back and forth between try one more time to do it without surgery and the risks that come with it, and I have been trying and haven’t been under 200 lbs since my early 20’s. I’m so afraid I will feel regret or have complications after surgery that I don’t have now and am equally afraid that if I don’t do the surgery, I will have diabetes, high blood pressure, constant joint pain and all the other problems that obesity cause. I’ve always been so terrible at making decisions but this one is really hard. Did any of you struggle with this ?
  2. Congratulations! You look great!

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Hello all.. 2 days post surgery and I'm feeling pretty good.. One more day of clears and then on to full liquids for 2 weeks. I am so looking forward to a Protein shake..lol never thought I'd be saying that!. Still have some gas but gas-x seems to be working fine.. Minimal discomfort where the insiicions are..I have nothing in my band yet but I am not hungry at all. Gained 8 lbs in the hospital, I guess from the iv but I lost 5 yesterday..I hear that's pretty normal though.. I'll keep you all posted on my progress and you please do the same...this is a new chapter in our lives! I'm ready

    My day at the hospital

Yes..I have no trouble drinking. I don't have any fill in the band yet either. I can't drink as much though and I am definitely feeling full very quick.. I took about 2 bites of sugar free jello and was done..tried a ice pop could only eat 1/2.. I just cooked a meal for a friend of mine that is staying with me and although it smelled delicious I didn't have the desire for any.. I am trying to work on the head/emotional hunger part because I know that is my biggest problem.. Everyone at the hospital told me "it's up to you now" and I know they are right.. Sleep well my new friend xo

    Surgery Monday at 11

Thank you all for the comments..I got home today and honestly I feel pretty good.. Mild discomfort and a little gas but other than that I feel really good. Not too hungry but I got down a sugar free ice and some tea and coffee so far. Tried a sugar free Popsicle but I could only eat 1/2 before I felt full.. Sipping Water, although not too much.. Looking forward to Thursday when I move to full liquids!
  7. Surgery is set for Monday at 11am.. Feeling anxious and excited! I'm a little nervous about what to expect when I wake up and excited about this new chapter of my life. Tomorrow I am all clear liquids...please keep me in your prayers...
  8. Thank you Missy! and congratulations on your success! you go girl!
  9. Hello...I am so excited..I got my date today for Nov 4th! I thought it would be later than that so I am feeling like I need to get moving on making sure I have everything I need for the hospital and when I return home. Any experienced banders have any suggestions for me? Thank you!

    6 month pre op diet

It's ok lyn..it's only one more month..we are doing this because we need help.. I can't tell you how many times I told myself I was going to lose weight for an event or vacation only to feel like a failure because I never did what I intended to do.. I have surrendered to the fact that I need help and although I know this surgery is only a tool I think the restriction and relearning how to eat is exactly what I need. I'm 47 years old and I am tired of telling myself I am a failure because I can't lose weight and keep it off on my own..be kind to yourself and start where you stand! Yesterday is gone! Move forward and love yourself in the process..you are doing this surgery to help yourself..good for you..tomorrow is a new day my friend ! Good luck to you in your journey
  12. I thought everybody was great at the office.. I know that Dr. Geiss mainly does bands but Dr Gohil has been doing the sleeve for many years. There is another woman doctor (I forget her name) that does the sleeve as well. I guess they all have their own area of expertise. Good luck with your appointment and keep me posted!
  13. Hello.. I'm sorry for the late reply. I am still figuring this site out. My first appointment went well. I am working on getting the clearances necessary. They found a bump on my endoscopy so I had to go to another gastro doc and am scheduled for another endoscopy on Sept 9th. I was a bit bummed because I was hoping to be cleared sooner than that. :-( I'm just going to do what they tell me..lol.. I've waited this long, another few weeks won't kill me..I still have to do my sleep apnea study next Thursday night and then I'm done! I'm hoping for an October surgery date. How did your appointment go?
