    July sleevers please check in..

I have been at this weight since April, with a slight fluxuation of 3-4 lbs. Feeling better than I have since I was in my young 20's. I have not reached my personal goal but remain hopeful. Surgery date: 7/8/13. HW: 238, SW 232, CW 159. I no longer have Type II Diabetes or HBP. I am 5'9" and am wearing size 8-9 or 10, depending on brand. My exercise of choice is brisk walking. I will be adding weight training soon as I was told recently that the cardio is not as productive in weight loss. Muscle gain will increase my metabolism. We shall see. I do have some anxiety about regain. I track my caloric intake and average 1200 a day. I would have thought at this rate, I would still be losing, though slower than originally. I get frustrated. It can be discouraging. I really wanted to reach my goal of 150.

    Weight for me!

My husband had Gastric Sleeve exactly two months before me. I am trying to be as successful as he has been in his recovery from food addiction and discovery of his health and youthful attitude.

    Any july 8 sleevers?

I am having trouble getting in fluids and food recently, too. I know it's not healthy but I just cannot get anything down. I am hungry. My stomach hurts from growling so. My weight loss has halted again. In fact, the same two pounds keep coming and going in the last week. Weird. Frustrating. Can anyone offer hope, please? What is this? Please tell me this season will pass. Thanks in advance.
  4. I was sleeved July 8 and had two hernias repaired. I was unaware that I had a hiatal hernia or an umbilical hernia. When I woke from sedation, the nurse told me that I had two hernias repaired. The pain caused by the umbilical hernia repair is intense. I can only compare it to my c-section years before. I felt like I had been sawed in half. I went for my one week check up today. I am down 11 lbs. all looks well except the continued pain at the site of the belly button and up my left side. The nurse said the only cure is time. I was not prepared for this type of pain and recovery. The other surgical wounds cause ZERO pain. If not for the hernias, I think I would be well on my way. Just thought I would post in case someone else finds themselves in the same position.
  5. I expected some discomfort but not the fierce jabs, like I am being stabbed repeatedly every time I sip anything. My procedure was on Monday. I had two hernias when they went in. The doctor fixed both hernias, one at my belly button. The other puncture wounds don't hurt at all. They just itch. I feel like I was sawed in half and put back together. Sometimes I cannot raise myself out of the bed because as I attempt to use those muscles, it feels as if I am going to bust wide open. Sorry to be so graphic but that is the most appropriate description I can use. Anyone else have this issue? My husband had his procedure exactly two months ago. He had no hernias and this was his first abdominal surgery. I have had four previous abdominal surgeries prior to my sleeve. I just knew I was going to breeze through this because of all of my "experience". But... then there were TWO hernias. Sometimes I feel like he expects too much from me in the healing department because he was up and driving two days post op. I am slowly creeping from one room to another. I am not a wimp either. This is PAINFUL. The other hernia was the hiatal. Is that what is causing me to have such trouble swallowing even water? My husband was drinking a bottle of water in five minutes and I am still trying to finish one 20 oz bottle of water since yesterday. I am using ice chips, as well but I cannot drink much at all. It is just too painful. My discharge nurse yesterday was not the warm and fuzzy type. She had her own procedure 3 years ago. So I ask her about the sharp pains and she smirks, tilts her head and says, "Get used to it. You wanted this, you got it." Nice, huh? Bitter much? Thanks in advance for any encouragement/experience/compassion you might be able to offer.

    July sleevers! Are we ready!

July 8th! Battling panic. Ready but wish it were tomorrow. The wait is excruciating. Final pre-op meal tomorrow. My husband planned a surprise at my favorite restaurant. He had his sleeve May 8. There is no turning back. I just do not like the wait.

    July 2013 sleevers

Now officially less than a week away. My nerves are already working overtime. Yikes! I am ready to begin my journey to health.
  9. My surgery is the 8th. I have had painful butterflies in my tummy since I got my date. I keep telling myself that a month from now, I will be well on my way to a healthy life. Sometimes the nerves do get the better of me. I also pray. I hope it won't offend you, but I will keep you in prayer.
