Kelsnikol reacted to cejiogu in 14 weeks pregnant 5 months post op glucose test ugh!
As an RN in a play with high risk pregnancy you don't have to do the test if you don't want to! If you failed the 1 hour then you should treat this like you have gestational diabetes. You need to watch the carbs and take your finger stick. They can do a1c hemoglobin to follow you. If they say they can't you need a new md.

Kelsnikol reacted to keglenne in 3 month post op stats
Im 3 months out HW 264 CW 196.4. What has helped me is my Water intake. Dont worry about how fast you will loose the weight thats not important. Loosing the weight is of great significance. Just know that the weight is gonna come off and that you made the right decision to a healthier you. Long as you are making some type of progress give youself a pat on the back. Keep striving to get to goal weight and you will get there. Now lets rock this sleeve!

Kelsnikol reacted to RJ'S/beginning in Is my FEAR founded?
First of all. Protein is the backbone of weight loss esp. with this program...If you are not getting enough nourishment your body will shut you down and in a hurry...It is protecting you from starvation and that is a normal reaction...Nothing strange here..
The less you eat your metabolism slows down as well and fat is restored in the tissues for safe keeping.....
Once you start taking in Protein and Water and Vitamins..Your body will relax and you will start to lose again...
Right now look at it like this..Your body is taking a much needed rest from everything it has endured through this journey so far..Stay on target, and keep going...and soon your body will say..I am still being fed..I am okay and I can release weight..
Don't you think the body is an amazing machine to be able to care for you like this!!! I do!

Another vote for Miralax, and for putting it in my one Protein shake every morning. Also, get those Fluid numbers up, and walk walk walk!!!!
BTW, I mix my Protein shake/Miralax as soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning (it's my new coffee), and use it to take all of my morning meds. Thirty minutes later, I'm ready for a soft boiled egg or something.

Kelsnikol got a reaction from Scorpion11 in How have you prepared?
Good luck everyone! Goirish is there a certain type of Protein Drink that your going to drink? I want to start trying some now so I will know what I will like and of course get used to drinking them. I also want to get a trainer but probably wont til after surgery. My husband actually went to school to be a trainer so he knows what to do, just not so sure i'd listen to him lol!

Milk of Magnesia usually makes you go after a dose or two. Then MiraLAX daily. It is clear and dissolves into anything. It is safe to use long term.
Stool softeners draw Water into your stool but doesn't make you go. Once you get going, continue on the MiraLAX every day.

i had this problem when i started purees/soft foods. especially because we have a hard time getting in Fiber with no raw veggies and fruits. i started taking miralax at night in 8oz of applejuice diluted with Water and it helped me tremendously! after doing it for a few nights in a row i started going regularly again. but still call your surgeon first just to make sure there's not an obstruction because using anything could make it worse!

I get the smaller size Protein Shots at Walmart and mix it with
fruit punch flavor with fruit punch crystal lite. I have mixed with lemonade crystal lite also and not bad. I use 32oz. Water too.

Kelsnikol reacted to clk in 3 weeks out and cant get protein in
It took me a few MONTHS to get to the point where I could hit my Protein and hydration goals consistently.
Focus on hydration first, then Protein. At this point it's hard. I doubled my scoops of protein to be sure I was getting at least 40 grams per shake. I never mixed with milk, either - I developed lactose intolerance post op and while I can now have most things dairy, milk is still off the table. I like picking a protein that goes well when mixed with Water. Sounds crazy but it's thinner so I was able to drink more early out that way.
I still do a shake a day, mixed with coffee, tea or Water. I've changed favorites many times over the last few years but one constant is the Syntrax nectar - especially chocolate. It goes well with anything.

Oh - and if you're on soft foods a bodybuilder friend of mine taught me to make sludge early out. Use one Tbs of peanut, almond, soy, or sunbutter mixed with one scoop of protein (chocolate is best, but use what you like) and add in enough water to make sludge. I then toss in a tsp of mini chocolate chips to make it more palatable, no lie, but you can skip that part. Chill it and then eat it up. Weird, I know. But strangely satisfying and it packs a calorie and protein punch. It's good for those early days when it's hard to even hit 500 calories a day and even now I'll do it once in a while if I'm low on calories.
