    Sleevers by profession.

Pediatric nurse and mom to my 10 yr old son.
  2. Yep it looks like I will be having mine the day of surgery too
  3. I think you should go. Change of scenery would help some of your pain & misery. As for the reception or eating times, you could always excuse yourself for the initial, go stretch out in your room, have a protein shake etc & then go back to join for the activities. Amazing what some laughter, activity & change of scenery can do for the mind & body!

    Giving yourself permission...

Even in pre-op stage, I am beginning to struggle with this. I can so relate to the both of you. I'm realizing this particular area with be my biggest, nastiest, & hardest battle with myself. Thank you both for throwing this topic out there! It just brings it to the forefront of reality!

    August 2013 Roll Call

My doctor said I will be inpatient 24-48 hours post. I have read in the past on here that some do have it done as "outpatient" and go home same day.
  6. I can totally relate. I am a Peds RN as well

    finally really gonna do this

My doc told me no pre-op diet except a light dinner the night before & nothing after midnight the day of surgery. Feels odd to me since everyone else is having to do "something" for their MD. Guess I am very lucky

    Dr. Overby. UNC-CH
  9. Great idea about the 1 meal per day & protein shakes otherwise! I think I will shoot for that my final 5-7 days prior to surgery. Will definitely keep you posted :-)

  11. Well made it thru my pre-op just fine. Everything went smooth. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Overby!! Pre-Care was fine as well. I am a pediatric nurse & was so surprised that there was no bowel prep required or even a special pre-op diet. That just seems so odd to me. Of course I have already been preparing doing low carb, absolutely no caffeine and no sweets diet for about 2 months now. I have lost about 4 pounds since my initial appt back in June. I'm exercising at the gym at least 5 days /wk just to keep the discipline going. Did you have a single room or a double while in the hospital? I'm really hoping for a private room!
  12. Hey there! Tomorrow is pre-op appt with Dr.Overby. Surgery has been set for Aug 14. Is there anything special I need to know about pre-op appt?
  13. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL :-D

    Scared

So glad to hear! Best wishes on her recovery & your upcoming surgery
  16. I would also suggest contacting Cigna to see what is covered, what is required & what doctor is in-network for you. That way you will have an idea when you attend the seminars about the whole insurance coverage & testing process. I will be getting sleeved Aug 14th at UNC-CH with Dr. Overby.

Thank you. I'm still pre-op and these posts are so good to read. Gives me a bigger picture- no pun intended there.
