  1. Thanks Amy. That is what is so frustrating! I really feel my food is on track. I don't normally eat crackers, it's a once in awhile treat. The only thing I can see is to cut the sugars? I am over on my sugars, but most of it comes from the 1% milk I mix in with my Protein powder. I could do better about drinking more Water. I am usually on track, but could use more. And I know I need to increase my exercise. I have a 3xweek aerobics class that starts Monday, so I've slacked the last month on exercise, knowing that class is coming up. It was just so easy the first 6 months, and now its so much more work. And nothing I do seems to make a difference.
  2. Also, just a warning. The last time I tried to use a coupon similar to this one ($10 off $20) I was told they were invalid coupons, and my local store wouldn't take them.
  3. I'm 7 months post op, and have lost 98 pounds. I want so badly to hit that 100 pound mark, but I just cant seem to get there. I've been bouncing the same 2 pounds back and forth since early December. I know most of it was Christmas. I ate more than I should, and ate things I shouldn't have. But for the last 2 weeks I have really been back on track, and still nothing! I got down to 1 tenth away from my goal, then will gain a pound again. I went back to the basics, and started tracking all my food intake. I am staying between 900-1100 calories per day, drinking lots of Water, at least 80 grams of Protein per day, staying under my limits for carbs and sugar. I just don't know what I am doing wrong? I know my exercise specialist said this was to be expected at this stage, and it happens to everyone. He said you wont see a loss for awhile, but you are still losing inches. And it will cycle back and forth every month. He said to only worry if I don't see a loss for 2 months in a row. But I'm getting close to that 2 month mark, and still no loss. Any ideas on how to break a massive stall? Here's my food for the last 2 days, any advice? Breakfast: 2 envelopes sugar free hot cocoa 1 dannon light and fit greek yogurt Lunch: 1/2 cup raw carrots 1/4 cup raw snap peas 1/4 cup hummus Snack: Isopure Protein shake Dinner: 4 ritz crackers 2 tablespoons Peanut Butter 1/4 cup cottage cheese Totals: Calories: 927 Carbs 32 Fat 32 Protein 93 Sugar 30 Breakfast: Sugar free Cappuccino Tomato juice Dannon light and fit greek yogurt Snack: Isopure protein shake Lunch: Grilled shrimp greek olives and feta Dinner: Grilled Mahi Mahi cooked carrots and snow peas Calories: 959 Carbs 66 Fat 23 Protein 120 Sugar 40

    No More Protein Shakes/smoothies?

    So funny how all Dr's are different. I just have my 5 month post op appt, and mine said to continue with the protein shakes, twice a day, as a snack, not a meal replacement.
  6. I was the same way, I was able to drink normally within a few days post op. I could drink large amounts, and didn't have to sip. I was worried, but my NUT said it was fine. She said everyone is different, and we all have different anatomy. Just do what feels right for your body.

    Sleep Apnea Questions

    I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 1 1/2 years before surgery. I used a CPAP every night for 18 months. Within 4 months post op I wasn't sleeping well. I went in for a repeat sleep study, and had gone from "moderate sleep apnea" to mild. My dr reduced the pressure on my cpap, but told me to still use it. I cant. When I try to sleep with the cpap I don't sleep well, but when I sleep without it, I sleep great. Right now I alternate between using it and not, depending on how tired I am. The dr said to come back and see him when I have lost another 50 pounds. I am at 260 now, and we would talk about me not needing it anymore. I'm hoping!
  8. I'm almost 5 months post op, and never had a issue with my vitamins. Until now. I switched to a new flavor, same brand, but berry instead of orange, and they are making me sick. Not everytime, but twice in the last week. Within 10 minutes of taking them I am throwing up. Any advice? I hate to go get new ones, because they were $40 for the bottle. Would it help to take them with food, without food, night, day? Anything? So far the two times they made me sick, once was on an empty stomach, the other was about 30 minutes after eating some soup. Both in the morning.

    What are your staples ?

    Dannon light and fit greek yogurt (coconut vanilla, vanilla, pineapple and black cherry), Isopure low carb dutch chocolate protein powder, string cheese, mixed nuts (cashews, peanuts, almonds and pistachio), sugar free fudgecicles, trop 50 juice, crystal light lemonade, frozen turkey meatballs.

    Protein shots

    My Nutritionist said not to use them, that they are not a source of good protein, because they contain the wrong kind of protein, and most of what they contain isn't absorbed into the body. She said only to use protein sources with whey protein isolate. I use Isopure low carb, and they are 25g of protein for 6 ounces, 30g if you mix it with milk instead of water.

    Surgery in the Summer

    I had surgery June 11th. I didn't have any issues staying hydrated at all. I constantly carried water or crystal lite everywhere I went. I didn't have any problems after surgery drinking, even fast, large amounts. I could drink the same way that I did pre surgery. Some people are not like that tho, so it all depends on your body. The only issues I had was finding sugar free drinks on the go. I just made sure I always had sugar free drink mixes with me, and made my own, or just had water. And I couldn't swim for the first 6-8 weeks after surgery. So that was hard for me to stay out of the water for my kids.

    Is everyone on pre op diet?

    I don't think its "common". The majority of Dr's require a pre-op for at least a week or two. But certainly some Drs don't. I just think they are more in the minority. I interviewed several Drs, and one of them didn't require a pre-op diet, just the 24 hours liquid before. Every Dr is different.

    Snacks?

    Nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios:, celery dipped in PB, cottage cheese, low sugar greek yogurt, string cheese, carrots dipped in hummus, refried beans, a few turkey meatballs.
  14. Also, remember that our weight will fluxuate. One week I will lose good, the next not at all, or a gain. But at the end of the month, it all evens out as a good loss. Also, our periods will make us retain water weight, so that can account for some of the loss. My NUT also cautioned that eating too little in calories will cause your body to "hold onto the weight", so we need to make sure we don't eat too little.
  15. I'm 4 months post op, and this is the info my NUT gave me for what I should aim for as far as nutrition. I am usually right within these numbers. Calories: between 800-1000 calories per day Carbs: recommendations are 90 grams per day for patients 6 months post-op and 130 grams per day for patients greater than 1 year post-op. So I would say between 60 and 90 grams per day for you. Fat: between 25 and 30 grams per day (mostly from healthy fats) Protein: goal is a minimum of 65-70 grams per day Sodium: less than 2000 mg per day Sugar: less than 6 grams of sugar per serving (so if you are eating 3 meals per day, then you want to keep total sugars below 18 grams)
