    Mad at myself for slipping

This is exactly the reason I had WLS. I would dutifully follow my current diet du jour and if I slipped , I punished myself by being more " off diet". Our sleeve is a constant reminder that we must stay on track, but if we slip , it's so easy to pick our selves back up.

    90 pounds in 7 months

    Excellent progress !
  3. Start weaning yourself down now, seriously. Start by mixing the "Real" coffee with the decaf over a couple of weeks at least until your cup is decaf only. It will decaffeinate your body slowly and will hopefully avoid the withdrawal headaches. They are horrible! Ps : I was back on my joe at the beginning of my 5 th month. I'm a hard core coffee lady.
  4. Happy anniversary to you!

    Bored with food choices

Surgeons differ, but yours is very strict!
  9. I had to "remind" myself to eat in the first few months, its normal. I was rarely hungry and it was easy to skip meals. This actually contributed to some of my early weight stalls. I made myself eat every 2-3 hours and had small portions of a Protein food through out the day. I would eat an egg, a Protein Drink, yogurt, or maybe cheese or deli meats.. In the beginning, we eat very little, and our brains want a MEAL, though we are only capable of a small meal. Try to eat smaller portions to avoid nausea. I have never vomited, but I had gotten uncomfortable if I accidentally ate too much. Do you weigh out your portions? This can help to identify your limits/ stomach capacity.Mine limit was 3 ozs at time in the beginning and is approx 5 ozs @ 9 months. Be sure to pace yourself also. Slow and steady. If your portion sizes are are small and you still experience nausea, be sure to call your surgeon.

    gastro doc says no sleeve

I had severe Barrett's pre-op , found on my work up. My gastro encouraged me to have the sleeve to fix it. My chances for esophageal cancer were at least 15% according to 2 MDs. My surgeon performed a " esophageal fundoplication" as a part of my sleeve surgery. I had originally planned on lap Band but both docs felt the sleeve was the way to go. I am a nurse and really researched this topic and the procedures and came to agree with their decision . I will be on medication for the rest of my life, but my reflux was completely absent for 6 months and only minimally present now. On day one post op , I no longer snored , I had no idea that my snoring was due to my esophagus. I had always assumed it was because I was overweight and had a deviated septum . Who knew? I encourage you to do your research and ask lots of questions. Good luck !
  15. The reality is the sleeve a terrific tool, but it's just that - a tool. What it does best is helps to re-train our brains and how we view food. I am speaking strictly from my experiences, but at 9 months post-op, I am still feeling a lot of restriction in my tummy. It is not impossible to overeat , but it is uncomfortable to over eat , plain and simple. The liquid diet will force you to lose weight pre-op, but those losses are almost impossible for us to maintain over the long run , and scientific research gives long term success approx a 5% chance. I have found that once I started to lose the excess weight, the better I felt. The better I felt about myself , the more I want to do the right thing. Be honest about your motivation. Are you looking for a life style change or a quick fix? Only you can decide your motivation to pursue WLS or try another diet. Good luck with your decision .
  16. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and wedded bliss!
  17. Don't be afraid to drink! You will not be able to gulp, but you do not need too, either. The ice pops will melt as you eat them Enjoy them frozen.

    How you see yourself

This is a really good question, and I am not sure how to answer. When I get dressed , I pick out outfits from my closet that are figure flattering and accentuate my new size ( loose size 10 also). I still have no idea when I go shopping for new clothes though. I pick up a size 10 dress and think " put that down, its too small" when in fact it does/should fit. Brains are a crazy thing.
  19. Give it a little more time. I catch myself walking a little hunched at times. For me, it's a posture issue, sometimes I need to be conscious of how I am standing Our bodies need to get used to our new "center of gravity". My "turkey neck" was really super obvious in my first 6 months. It is definitely starting to diminish. I am 52 yo and almost 9 months post op.My weight loss has slowed down on its own, and I feel "normal". I am still losing 4 or 5 lbs a month, and my body seems to be adjusting to it easier. Remember , your friends and family are still trying to adjust to their version of the "new you". It sounds like you are doing things in a healthy fashion.
  20. Finally crossed into the 150's for the first time in almost 30 years. This has been such am elusive goal for me for sooo long. I thought there would have been balloons or something when I got here, lol!

    Sleeved nurses.

I feel 4-6 weeks is reasonable for hospital nurse. There are always patients and stretchers and equipment that needs pushing , pulling or lifting. You want to minimize the chance for an incisional hernia as much as possible. Maybe your charge nurse can assign you to a patient group who are all "Walkie- Talkiie"? Oh wait- that's doesn't exist!
